Tora tilted her head to the side and frowned. "Um, you do too know who I am. I told you twice now...." (it was only once but she didn't remember) "It's Tora."

She glared. "And you just don't like me...or maybe you're just a mean bully. It has to be one of those two!" She nodded once.

He shook his head. "I'm not a bully. I'm against violence, actually." But that was beside the point. "And why would I hate you if I just met you?"

"He has a point on both accounts, Tor," Xar said softly. "Maybe if you try being nicer you wouldn't keep arguing with the boy."

"Oh, do shut up!" Tora said, disgust covering her tone.

Nicolas blinked. "Me shut up?" he asked. He had heard her voice change, but still wondered. Maybe he wasn't supposed to hear that other voice... he could pretend not to if it was needed.

Though he was glad one of them was sensible.

Tora stared at him. "No, not you! I was talking to Xar! So shut up."

Xar burst out laughing. "You need to learn to be more nice, Tor."

"And you need to learn to keep your mouth shut!"

Xar growled. "Don't take that tone with me, Tora. I won't put up with it."

Tora scoffed. "Won't put up with it? I won't put up with you!"

"I'm three years older, Tor. Respect me."

Tora burst out laughing.

This conversation was increasing in its odd level. Nicolas stared at her, and gulped. "Xar? Who's that?" he asked cautiously, unsure if he wanted to see the reaction to this.

"How old are you?" Xar asked cautiously, trying to gauge if this was compitition or not.
