He frowned in thought as she explained what happened. "That's....this island exists so people won't have to do that..," his brow furrowed, "if they his something....unsafe..dangerous about their powers, and it hurt you. That's incredibly irresponsible." Matteo didn't tell most about his demonic nature, but that wasn't dangerous to others.

"I...I'm sorry," the firey cat statue on his shoulder vanished, "there your friend." He did mean everything he said though, and now he couldn't help but worry about Addy. They hadn't known each other long, and the way they met was unusual, but he did care about her.

Matt smiled, "looks great, I'm happy I btought it here." The bike did look good, "and its nice to get some productive use out of my fire, besides lighting my smoke." A small bird statue made of flame appeared and perched comically on the side of his head, "though I guess it does have a few other uses."

Pain crossed Adelene's face as Matt said that Lochlann was irresponsible for hurting her. This wasn't the first time someone pointed out how flawed this relationship was, and she knew that, but she also told herself that it was more complicated than that.

She shrugged at Matt. "Shit happened back then." That wasn't the first time she described it that way. Her best friend almost drowned her in a stormy sea and ate her-- yes, shit happened. "It was technically his fault, but it's not that simple."

While they were cleaning up, putting the tools back together and gathering all the replaced parts and the rusty bolts, a series of steps made its way down the stairs from the second floor. It was Adelene's brother, Alaude, and he stepped into the shop, curiously looking at his sister and Matt and at their work. "What's happening?"

"Oh! Al, this is my friend Matteo. And currently my customer." Adelene hurried back to Matt's side to gesture at him. And then she gestured at her brother for Matt. "Matt, this is my brother, Alaude."

Alaude nodded at Matt, but he neither smiled nor offered a shake.

He wanted to say more, tell her how shit didn't just happen, there were causes and affects. Choices that lead to people getting hurt, Matt didn't tell people he was a demon, but his demonic nature wasn't a danger to anyone, you don't ignore something that could be dangerous to someone you cared about. In the end, he remained quiet, for now anyways.

Matt turned his attention to her brother as he appeared, giving a small smile and returning the nod, "good to meet you, and yeah I brought my bike down for a look over." Alaude didn't come off as particularly friendly, but he'd be polite all the same, it was his shop after all.

"Addy did a great," he said gesturing to her, "bike'll rune better than ever I'd say." The repairs were minor, but Matt greatly appreciated it, the bike was one of the few things he had from his old life.

"Ah." Alaude didn't speak much before turning away and heading to the exit. "No idea when I'll be back, so if you're planning to go out, make sure to lock everything," was all he said before disappearing into the streets. Addy watched him leave, and made a sheepish chuckle as he disappeared.

"He's... not the most sociable person," she said, and almost sounded apologetic towards Matt for it. "He acts like he hates everyone, but he's really just dishonest about himself."

Adelene dusted off her arms and shirt, but a lot of stains and dirt still stuck on her. She didn't exactly mind it much usually but this time-- "Oh, hey, wanna do a test drive? I'll go with you. After I change clothes, I guess." She wanted to go out, and if she doesn't change out of her stained clothes, she'd attract too much unwanted attention.

"Let's talk about my charge after giving it a go," she added, grinning.

Matt chuckled a little, "family's important, its good you two take care of each other." He'd give anything to see his family again, change the past, he couldn't help but blame himself for what happened, even though it wasn't his fault.

"A test drive?" he asked tilting his head and smiling, "I'm confident you did fine job." His smile widened a bit, "though I supposed it wouldn't hurt," he grinned a bit. Odd, this was supposed to just be a little repair run, instead he found himself having fun with a friend.

He glanced at Addy's bike, "I don't think I've ridden with anyone since I got here." Matt hummed in thought, and laughed a little, "I remember, I was living in Wales when I was a teenager, I kept getting in trouble for racing people."

"Race?" It wasn't exactly what she had in mind, but Adelene found the idea to be a good one. She was pretty good with Svadilfari after all, and it seemed like Matt was also capable of crazier stuff. "Well, we're not in Wales. Let me change my clothes. We're going for a drive, I insist!"

She hurried upstairs and went back down a couple of minutes later, now rid of her dirty working clothes and was already wearing a clean batch. Jeans and a simple tee.

"Sorry for the wait! Okay, so, repairs are done so this is no longer a mechanic-customer thing, we should go out for a drive as friends, okay?" Addy walked towards Matt, patting his shoulder, before going to her bike in the corner to push it to the exit.

Matt waited patiently for her, a small ball of flame circling him. He didn't have any friends, we'll maybe one or two, he'd felt hollow for a long, just isolated. The events that lead him to coming here had changed him into something not human, made him question everything about himself. Now, there seems be a shift in things.

He smiled as she patted his arm, he had a friend. Following her, he pushed his bike out beside her, "hope you can keep up," he told her teasingly as he mounted his bone and pulled his helmet on.

"You know, I never did give her a name," he said patting his bike, "looks like you'll be keeping her up and running from now on," he tilted his head, "how about you name her?" The bike meant a lot to him, so letting someone else name her meant a lot as well.

Addy made sure to close the overhead door and lock it before mounting herself on Svaðilfari and wearing her all-black helmet. The glass part of it was already pulled down, completely hiding her face. She laughed, but the helmet made the sound muffled.

"Name her? I can't! That's your responsibility as the owner, don't push it on me," she said jokingly before starting up her bike's engine. "Actually I can't believe you haven't named her yet." It actually felt very flattering for Matt to ask her to name the bike, but she was too embarrassed to accept, and besides, she didn't have any good ideas for it yet.

"Okay, where's our finish line? Let's race to a good restaurant and the loser pays for lunch."

And so they raced, it was the most fun Matt had had in years. In truth, she'd already been something of a light, a light in a what had been a painful lonely last few years. He was starting to open up again, letting people in, something he hadn't done in a long time. Somehow, Addy had opened a door to him, if a just a little. It was the beginning of something, something neither expected.
