The burning had ceased at this point. Iris could finally sigh in relief without feeling something singe inside. She brought her head down to lay on the table, her hands playing with the now empty box of lunch absentmindedly. "I want to say something like 'that's cute' because I sort of think it is, but I think that's probably unfair to you."
Awkwardness, no matter how endearing she found it at times, never really was something she'd wish on others. Although, she didn't really have much experience with it. Her style was to power through such situations, and when that failed, to find another angle. As far as she knew from the other awkward people she met in the past, they couldn't quite take that approach.
His wording was interesting though. It implied that it was just talking he was uncomfortable with. "So, you're awkward about talking. I'm assuming you mean just talking? Because if you're awkward about everything else as well, like cute, pushy people like me, you're going to be having a bit of a bad time."
