"College student? Heh. Suppose I shouldn't judge a girl's age by her height, huh?"

Though if memory served correctly, No one should ever try to guess a girl's age at all unless it was plainly evident that they were a small child. In all other situations, it was best to make an educated guess than subtract five or ten years, or more if the woman in question seemed older. The same logic applied to weight, but Jacob doubted that would ever come up with the little waif before him.

While it was hard to believe that the girl that did not even come up to his chest was college-aged, her unusual looks and the general situation of the Academy itself gave her the benefit of the doubt. Surely there were more than a few instances of people not looking their age. Hell, there were people with the inverse problem in that they looked young but were hundreds or thousands of years old.

"Hm. Private tutoring. I guess there's a problem or two you have help with? A problem only I, apparently, could help with?"

He spun his sword around a bit and let it rest on his shoulder. The doubt he afforded Dorito went a ways toward balancing out the reservations he felt when the... thoughts came back into his head. Jacob was still only coming down from the high of putting on a sword show for the kids, so his ego was a inflated enough to humor the girl in front of him.

"Well then. What kinds of things do you need my aid for, hm?"

"Yeah, I get a lot of that... First goblin at the school, go me!" She kept herself cheerful but the racial diversity of the school was somewhat lacking. Goblins were dirt tier supernatural creatures, of course there were none in Starlight Academy... Another glance at the way Jacob stood, the way he flourished his sword and the way his body moved, muscles flexing as he did, pushed a lot of thoughts from her mind and some entirely different ones into it. He seemed to be catching on a bit though, maybe he wouldn't need as much nudging at this point.

"Oh, I'm quite sure you're the only one who can help me with a few problems. Care to head back to my dorm with me?"

The way Dorito turned, the way she shifted so she was sideways from Jacob's perspective, her femininity and her curves a little more obvious from that angle. She let Jacob see how much woman was in this girl as she smiled and gestured for him to accompany her. It was a slight and dainty gesture, but it was enough. She wouldn't stop poking him, though, feeling how much pride and ego was in the flourish of his sword, the cockiness in how he rested it on his shoulder. She wanted Mr. Cummingham's 'cockiness'. It was so easy to impress her, I still got it! She let some more ego stroking sneak from her to his mind, She's eating it up, she's into me. I'll play it cool but keep going. She let the less-than-decent thoughts play off of the confidence she spoon fed him, trying to ensure that his confidence stayed up and stayed focused on her. Why not head back to her dorm with her? Just some innocent tutoring? She made it sound like he was being sarcastic with himself, some more mental images punctuating that last remark as she smiled at him, waiting for his response.

When she admitted to being a goblin, Jacob found himself a little stunned again.

"Goblin? Really? Huh. That's a new one to me. You're certainly a lot prettier than I thought a goblin would be."

Despite the prodding thoughts and feelings in his head, Jacob's compliment came off much more honestly than flirty. It was just him being himself for a moment before the thoughts came rushing back into his head. Even without the influence, he probably would have kindly complimented her anyway.

But it at least explained her lack of height and (maybe) her name, and her appearance. Jacob could definitely see the goblin influence in her now that she made it clear, but she looked a lot more human and feminine that he would have imagined.

Soon enough he felt his feet following behind her without any real input from his head.

"Are you sure? Shouldn't I get changed or get my books before we get to the tutorin'?"

The sarcasm in his mind's voice spilled a little into the open world, a habit he remembered employing frequently in his own youth when he was *ahem* going through girlfriends. It was always playful to act like they were actually up to something constructive and good, and not something else entirely. The niggling doubt in his head warning him of his actions came back, asking him if it was worth to play along, even if he WAS kidding and not going to follow through. He had to think of the consequences, and his feet stumbled a little as he hesitated.

It wasn't the comment itself so much as the sincerity behind it that suddenly made Dorito blush a little and trip up in her steps. The awkward delivery aside, it was a rather forward and kind remark and she wasn't ready for it. "Aww, you... Making me blush here." She smiled and tried to laugh it off, not sure if she did so as well as she had hoped.

The tone shifted when he made his next comment, and that step outside of her control shifted back into gear as he asked about getting down to 'tutorin''. "Oh, that's alright. I got everything we'll need in my room, and I don't think we'll need to change, either, Mr. Cunningham." She let the implications sink in slightly before once again whispering her thoughts to him, giving it some time for Jacob to ponder what she was suggesting on his own before assuring him that he was okay with it. I think I can like what kind of tutoring she wants, I can definitely give her the lesson she's interested in too. She kept the confidence and indecent thoughts on a slow drip, wanting to ensure that she wasn't drowning out Jacob's own thoughts but that he was well aware of what he wanted from her. When he stumbled a bit she let out another soothing thought for him, another soft reminder. She's into me, and why shouldn't I? She's not in any of my classes, and hey maybe this is just some innocent tutoring? Worst case scenario a student's grade's get better. Well, best case scenario... A quick flash of all too vivid imagery punctuated her last message.

One of the great follies of Man was His astounding ability to rationalize. Any bad situation or dubious idea could be dragged from the pit of hesitance and doubt with enough talking to one's own self about how it COULD be good or downplaying what COULD be bad. Hindsight is said to be twenty-twenty but forethought would forever be nearsighted until Man invented a way to block out all but the most logical trains of thought.

Such was the gradual defeat of the niggling doubt in Jacob's mind, the little voice that could have been Reason. Experience told him otherwise, but all the Coulds and Woulds overpowered it as he hypothesized that Dorito really was just looking for tutoring. Worse yet, Jacob had experience to help strengthen his rationalization. He had students flirt with him before to get private lessons, believing that they could somehow trick the answers out of him or they somehow did not believe that they could just ASK him for help. So maybe Dorito was the same way: a misguided method working towards an honest goal.

His hesitation faded and his feet began working again, keeping up with Dorito on the way to her dorm and the lesson. Except now he was more fully invested in the idea that he actually was just going to tutor her instead of anything else.

"Alrighty. I just hope your ready to learn, cause I'm serious about my tutoring."

It was difficult to discern if his tone was serious, or flirty.

This was going perfectly, She couldn't quite tell if he was still flirting or if, at this point, an 'innocent misunderstanding' had won out. She decided to stay the course though, could be either and could switch between either. It had felt to Dorito, though, that she had won. What she had won? Well she'll have to unwrap it to find out. There was a niggling sense of doubt in the back of her own mind, but she dispelled it quickly, focussing on Jacob with a large smile. "I can't wait, I've got a lot of homework and you have no idea how good it feels to get help."

She moved a little closer to him as she walked, smiling to herself as much as to him. As they walked she kept a few whispers seeping from her to him, making sure to keep his confidence up, to try and maintain that strong high he had from training, that glow he had from showing off for the crowd. She also always kept something suggestive, some hint of what might occur in the back of his mind. Who knows? Maybe that's also in the forefront. It felt strange, being able to give others thoughts but not know their own, being able to write and not read. Cute girl, let's see how she handles the 'curriculum' She led him to her dorm building and up towards her dorm room.
