Shortly after her special moment with Xavier, things went awry. She fell ill and became unable to keep any food down. Her mood fluctuated for reasons more than it being the anniversary of an unfortunate event. Most damning of all, her cycle was off. All this time Marissa transitioned from clueless to denial to dread. No way, they were careful! They talked about this! It couldn't be true! There was absolutely, positively no way Marissa Kelly Smith was pregnant!
Yet when she left the doctor's office, it was in tears. In her hand, a confirmed diagnosis. There was a baby growing inside of her. Despite having a few friends she could turn to, she felt alone and vulnerable. This was how Ryan and her were conceived; she got knocked up just like her crappy mother. Unlike her mother though, she refused to force Xavier into this situation. She was a big girl! If she had to be a single mother, then so be it! She wasn't weak; she could take care of herself. Who cares if she had no idea what she was doing? Adulting couldn't be that hard!
...could it?
....oh God, would she be a single mother?
The girl tortured herself with the information as she tried to operate. Pretend everything was alright. As anyone who even casually checked on her could tell though, she was not okay. Not even slightly. Forget about any emotional signs, no healthy person was just casually throwing up every other day.
She had to tell him. Xavier deserved to know. He deserved to be the first to know even.
Risky put on her most comfortable outfit and walked her way to Xavier's apartment. She couldn't even bring herself to apply her makeup. Her face without the dramatic eyeliner appeared softer than normal. The girl hesitated as her hand reached to ring the bell. It was kind of shitty cornering him in his apartment with the news. Most boys would hightail it, but he didn't have that option. He couldn't kick her out either without looking like a massive jerk.
It seemed hilarious to even consider such options when it was golden sweetheart Xavier, but her mind already anticipated the worst as she forced herself to press the doorbell. Her ears listened to it ring inside. Something about the act caused her to fall into a cold sweat. There was no running away now. No ducking behind fancy phones.
Marissa had to tough it out.
