On the way to the dorm room

She was barely able to refrain from laughing seeing his cute childish reaction. Such things always made her wanting to tease them even more. "Your ears wouldn't really disappear, Kenta." She said. "I only thought giving you experience of being under an interesting kind of spell I happen to know to cast. You see, I can create vivid illusions of almost anything existent. That's why I said I can kind of transform, while I actually can only create the illusion of being transformed. I used to do it often when I played with my friends back at home. I could turn us all in almost anything we wanted and I'd simply neutralize the spell once we got bored." She paused for a couple of seconds remembering her carefree days with a warm expression.
"But, well, I guess you're not interested in playing games..."

She nodded. "It is... But you know, illusions can be very unpleasant too. Luckily, I've mastered the spell, so there is no doubt I can pull it off properly."

She then decided to show him how it works so she put her suitcase on the floor, closed her eyes for a second focusing on the creation of wanted spectacle and whispered "Shiro", and in the next moment she stood in front of him with a new appearance, having fox ears and with a green eye instead of red.

"What do you think?" she asked pulling her fox ear and winking at him. Right after that she whispered "Owari" and returned to her normal state.

Akane picked her suitcase up again listening to Kenta talking about his transformations. "Well, improving your powers is always good. Comparing to the illusion, the power of transformation sounds less useful, but you never know - there might come a time when it could come in handy..."
She blushed lightly at him complimenting her look "Thanks. Well, it's not really how they'll look like in the future. I made them now the way they match my current appearance color-wise and size-wise. When I become a real kitsune I'll change drastically... Like, my height... hair length and color... my eyes.. even my voice will be different..." she stopped mumbling.
'And that's when my mother will lose her child again and this time for good. If only I could see her once before that happens...' she thought clenching the rim of her kimono trying to suppress her sadness.

The sound of his voice brought her back to reality and put a stop to her sadness in an instant. He looked frightened and that was the last thing she wanted to happen.
"Yes Kenta, exactly that much. I'll have almost nothing of my current appearance left and I'll grow stronger, so much stronger... However, there is an essential part of me that will always stay the same no matter what, and that's my soul. The nature of my being will never change. So don't worry - just consider it something similar to growing up!" she smiled gently and hoped her words would put him at ease.

It seemed to her that nothing she said really changed the mood. On contrary, things got only worse! He stood there upset, but obviously not because of the fact that she will change. There was something else that upset him and, although she couldn't be sure of it, she believed it might have had something to do with changing itself.
She watched him silently while he stood there, and followed him in the same manner as he started moving. She gave no answer to his question.

"Kenta..." she finally spoke, breaking the awkward silence "is there something troubling you? You can tell me anything. I'm something like a big sister to all the kitsune and, apart from that, I would also like to be your friend... So if there is anything troubling you, perhaps..." she hesitated for a second then continued "perhaps some experience with changing or anything else, please speak to me! Maybe I could do something to help you."
