Ardos let out a surprised laugh-squeal when the little one started gumming on his finger. It didn't have any teeth yet, so it was more uncomfortably wet and squishy than anything. He removed his hand and gave it a brief pat on the head. He wanted to listen to his more rational side, cut off attachments before it starts being dangerous, but Ardos was rarely a rational person as much as he hated to admit it, and he found the dragon hard to resist.
The dragon and the mother, really. Ardos usually thought most situations were stiff and unpleasant, but even deep in a dark forest with possible threat of danger all around them, he was the most relaxed he'd ever been.
"To the town it is. There are a few groceries near the forest. There might be one selling goat milk."
The implications of that made Ardos' head fizz out for a few moments. He found that he liked the scenario — Amphy as the mother, Ardos as father, and their small dragon child. He watched Amphy kiss the dragon, and felt nothing but deep fondness for the two.
"You think I'm handsome?" he said, maybe a little more hopeful than he intended. He cleared his throat, but he wasn't able to get rid of the smile on his face. Man, was this what smiling felt like? It was painful. "I — er, I wouldn't mind raising the little button with you. A couple pair of hands can't hurt."
Ardos walked ahead of them, following the 'path' they took to get there from Amphy's house to the opening of the forest, mostly because he didn't want Amphy to see the stupid smile on his face. Why won't this wear off. Ugh.
