Of Virtues Past (Closed)

He is a hard worker when it comes to both family and work, he is good with details and confident in all that he sets out to do but humble enough to let his actions/work speak for him. He is ambitions to reach the top of the corporate ladder and competitive to be and stay the father of the year.

Now i just need some interesting quirks to complete his personality, hmm, maybe adding some sort of morality system

@"fish_with_a_pencil" i looked it up and chastity is apparently about purity, knowledge and honesty? what if her ability ilgoes something around revealing truth or the pure form of things? like negating particular shapeshifting or illusions. maybe she could purify or cleanse things? or healing. or like, a spell of hers makes people unable to lie. idk... just a thought.

i just want you all to know, i keep referring to my character wrongly and calling him "terrance nightingale" in my head
and for some weird reason i see terrance being really doting towards cassie that it's bordering siscon

anyway, i have a few ideas about abilities?? they just sorta poppped up in my head while i was in church. so. here goes this long post so im just gonna drawer all these

<details><summary>1) Humility</summary> - I see her ability is based on being "humble". I think it could be that she can take qualities (or powers) away from people--kinda like Amon form Legend of Korra — but specifically those that they're most proud of (like you know, if I'd give an example here in SA, if it was Pride, Humility can take her voice). It's like a way to "ground" people who think they're all high and mighty to teach humility. It's pretty OP though so I figured there could be a side effect. And she has to use some sort of catalyst to do it and use a container where to place the quality in a way the owner can reclaim it by stealing the container.</details>
<details><summary>2) Temperance</summary> - I'm still sticking with the power of restraint on him but other than his holy ribbons, i guess he can probably do force fields too but to an extent of imprisonment sort of thing. Basically it's kind of forcibly teaching restraint to others.</details>
<details><summary>3) Chastity</summary> - i've been playing with the idea of purification for her case. She could purify water and make healing water out of it that can heal impurities (injuries, burns wounds and the like) and if she makes people drink that, it'll act like truth serums. She's basically practicing purity without the sexual sense of being chaste. And since that's all her power can do, it'd make so much sense that she has the slingshot for a weapon...........right?</details>
<details><summary>4) Patience</summary> - I can imagine Patience has the ability to harden their skin and turn themselves into a human shield. Or they can project a really cool shield like Steven in Steven Universe. His Patience virtue takes place in that his shield is the embodiment of his fortitude and dignity. They need to be really calm for his shield to get really strong and if they panics or in any way falters, it weakens.</details>
<details><summary>5) Charity</summary> - this took me a lot of thinking but i see them as a walking lucky charm and they can bless any object with luck to make them good luck charms too up to a certain period of time or the number of times it was "wished" on. It's kinda like a counter to Greed's ability to make probability turn on his side, Charity can share that luck with others which is how their virtue works. But it's general luck and not just money. </details>
<details><summary>5) Kindness</summary> - first thing i thought of is animal communion. Sorry, Anz. Okay but it's not as original but I see Kindness' ability works like Charity's except instead of on objects, Kindness' works on people. It's like buff magic in my head. Like they can bless people with strength, speed, or some other enhancement. Like some Holy Blessing of sorts. Unlike Envy who... steals bodies...? I think Kindness borders a little more selfless so instead of taking something for themselves, they give something. Also, Kindness gives the premium hugs for S class comfort. I have a character that's supposed to be a demon based on the sin Envy and her second power is the Evil Eye and she brings negative energy to whatever her heart sets on. I figure Kindness could give the comfort and positive energy.</details>
<details><summary>7) Diligence</summary> - i haven't really thought of anything but I have a vague idea of time-space manipulation but it's only limited to objects around him that makes him needlessly productive in things.</details>

And, the Sins actually have a tattoo/mark on them that identifies then as the seven sins, I'd imagine the Virtues have holy objects given to them? Like for instance, Terrance has the blessed bindings on him (both chains and cloth) and it's kind of astral in form so it's inside him. Patience's could have been a blessed astral shield and it's also inside of him. For Charity, if in reference to the water purifying, it could be a pendulum or something like it. Humility's could have been a holy astral sword and that's what she uses to cut out the quality. ....I haven't thought of everyone else's.

Also I think Charity and Kindness could be twins because their Virtues apparently overlap. Like so: Patience>Temperance>Chastity>Charity>Kindness? But that's just me. I know you guys want to build ideas on your own but i'm just putting it out there,, suggestions and all,,, aha haha h a,, I totally respect if you don't want to use these for your characters.

@"hyperhurricane" I love your purification idea for Cassie, and I totally wouldn't mind Terrance being very doting on Cassie. It would be funny, since she's not chaste in the traditional cutesy saving herself way, instead in the "I'm never ever marrying it's icky i'mma stay single 5ever" way, when someone asks who's going to take care of her if she doesn't get married, she just points to Terrance. (Not in an incesty way, but in a, "dude, I just need to whine a little and he gives me candy and money," kind of way or something. We can work out the details.

Approve of Charity's powers; fits with what I've envisioned of her (she wants to be more like Greed and use her powers for herself but she can't) but if I may have a say - I think that if she has luck powers, it works like so:

She can grant luck to others, and she does so at the cost of her own luck; however, when she does, the luck slowly returns and is greater for a short duration. This is how her power manifests for now but it is more abstract; at its basest form the power is simply luck and probability control that can manipulate any luck or probability that isn't her own. However, being young, she can't quite manifest it that way yet.

it's possible that they can be not biologically related if it's the holy item idea though~! they could have adopted some? so if you guys want anything outside of angels and such. the sins aren't all related too.

but personally, i like the family of angels idea better. i can see them running around being not-so-holy. [ED: by family i mean group sort of family. group of angels. not necessarity biological family. sorry for the confusion]

also i have an image of terrance with wings in my head and it looks beautiful

I was wondering, since we are a family and all that, do we have the same hair color and/or eye color or any similar traits?

I think this power would suit Diligence just perfectly. I think i saw someone mention that we should stop aging at some point or another but if that range from virtue to virtue then i'd like if he can be just old enough to have this power

Old Prime

The user has great status both mentally and physically despite their old age either from years of training or off the fly making their opponents often underestimate them as well and they make it appear as if time has had no effect on their physical condition making them a force to be reckoned with. Some users have great intellect and are capable of being master strategists as well.

This next power could come to be invaluable both in and out of combat, the power seems to work extreemely well with the other and the fact that Diligence is the father only seems to make it so much better

Telepathic Connection

The power to link minds with another living being through a close bond. Allowing communication between the two minds.

I am not quite sold on Old Prime though.

I have a question: would the virtues be on earth for no particular reason? I mean, if they are biologically related and it just so happens that they are all born as the seven virtues?

the others and I were on the cbox about it and i'm actually pretty sold on the idea they they were chosen to be the virtues and were entrusted with the holy items that they wield. i think that in itself already makes their purpose? like, they're there to teach the heavenly virtues to mankind. the kids just so happened to be chosen as well because they were somehow worthy of the task of embodying the virtue they hold.

i don't... really want to push this idea into anyone of you guys, but i guess i kinda like the idea of them having some sort of lore like the seven sins.

also something i thought about this morning about the holy items. im not sure if you all agree with the holy item idea though but i can imagine they're all astral in form and the virtues actually keep them in certain places in their bodies. and they can summon/project these from certain parts too. temperance might have his around his stomach area, chastity at the heart, humility right around the diaphragm, kindness and charity in hands, and diligence might be at the head? because i think diligence is about mindset. (i find it hard to think of anything for diligence why is this)

about old prime er... i'm having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around that ability;; but i think telepathic abilities work for diligence though so i think the connection is a good idea. and if the holy item is involved, it could possibly strengthen their connection.
