Gomph peered over the rail of the trawler as it plugged steadily through the foggy sea. For a brief moment he thought he glimpsed the outline of something massive in the distance but another blink and it was gone. This place felt wrong to the young demon, like they were trespassing upon something... what was the word? Ancient? Sacred? Significant.

He shoved his hands back into the pockets of his ill fitting jacket and gave the person beside him a nervous glance. Less than half a week ago they'd managed to escape from the facility and still he knew little about them. Pan, as they'd introduced themselves, had introduced themselves as a much older demon than he and had freely offered explanations and answers to why things were like they were. Even with all of that information however, he only knew three things. That Pan was an aspect of lust while he was one of gluttony, that the former had some sort of mental abilities, and finally that the captain of the boat who seemed to be waiting for them as they fled the docks meant them no harm. Speaking of which...

Gomph's gaze slid from Pan up towards the wheelhouse. For three days they'd been travelling across the water and during the whole trip the weathered old man had said nothing and hadn't left the wheel for a moment. Not to eat, not to sleep, not even for a cup of coffee. The whole thing was a little disconcerting. "You sure about him?" he asked his companion quietly. "About the island of things like us?"

If there was one thing that Pan was not a huge fan of it was boats or more specifically ocean travel. Pan had always preferred land, something about the solidity of it. Water, especially the ocean, was anything but solid and highly unpredictable. However, it seemed this little boat trip was a necessity. Where they had been before was not safe and this voyage promised that the other side would be.

Pan stood next to their newest, and currently only, friend Gomph as their eyes strained to see something through the fog that surrounded them. They didn't really know what they were looking for but whatever it was, Pan could feel its presence; this feeling of approaching a well kept secret.

They weren't paying much attention to their companion until suddenly he spoke. The words pulled Pan from their thoughts and they glanced over to the man driving the boat and then back at Gomph. They pulled the collar of their long black coat up a bit, before returning their gaze to the fog ahead of them.

"I've heard of this island many times before. Demons visit it often but they aren't the only creatures there. Its supposedly some kind of sanctuary for those who are, well, not quite "normal". As in the normal human mortal sense."

They let out a heavy sigh and glanced back at the man driving the boat. "As for him... Yes, he is taking us to this island."

The fledgling demon sat in silence for a water and gradually became aware that the shadows in the distance grew darker and more defined until the outline of a pier could be seen from the deck. "Finally, land." His stomach let out a loud grumble, a less than gentle reminder that there hadn't been much to eat aboard the boat. After having gone through what little food they'd swiped on their way out, a few bits of hardtack he found laying around, two barrels and about a hundred feet of rope he'd just accepted that he was just going to have to go hungry for a while. Hopefully he'd be able to rectify that on the shore.

Gomph fished a small envelope out of his coat pocket, the only thing that the captain had done that even vaguely approached communication with him was shoving it at him and muttering something about congratulations. He'd read through it of course and it was a letter of acceptance addressed to him...by name. Considering where he'd been the last decade and a half he wasn't sure how someone had managed to track him down, know when they were going to escape, know that they were going to make it to the boat and have the man offering them a ride have the letter waiting. The whole thing reeked of weirdness.

"Can... can we get something to eat when we arrive?" The envelope had a bit of money inside of it for necessities, it claimed and he intended to get a good meal in before even trying to wrap his head around..wherever it was. The Manta Ray Carl Islands or something?

At the sight of land, Pan felt a huge wave of relief. After three days, they were beginning to wonder if they were ever going to reach the island. Despite what they had just told Gomph, they had been experiencing many doubts. While they had heard of this island many times throughout their life there were parts of them that felt uncertain such a place could exist. But thankfully, it seemed this voyage had not been for not.

Pan watched as Gomph pulled out the letter he had received when they had first boarded the small boat. Pan had not been aware of any schools on the island but somehow the thought didn't surprise them too much. It was odd though how well planned everything about this boat seemed to be. But then again, when had things in Pan's life not been odd.

At the sound of Gomph's words, Pan turned their attention to the creature beside them. They gave a small nod. Pan was lucky that their demonic attributes were easily controlled, well at least they were now. Even with their craving for lust, they only felt it when they had found someone to lust over. Of course, during that time whoever Pan was currently falling over was all that the poor being could think about. Thankfully right now, there was no one to think about. However, Gomph did not have that luxury. The hoped that with time he would learn how to curb the hunger more (or at least manage it) but Pan had met a couple other demons of gluttony in their life and all of them basically lived a buffets. Not that that was such a terrible existence. Food was a pretty wonderful thing.

"Of course. We shall find a place to eat and then talk of what to do next." They glanced at the letter in their friends hand and then back to the land mass growing closer and closer by the second. "We have much to discuss."
