The delicate young leaf in Bastien's hand glistened as globules of oil slowly seeped out of its minuscule fibres. Satisfied with what he saw, Bastien slowly collected the oleturgically extracted persimmon leaf oil into a small empty glass vial. A fine addition to his collection, he thought.

Not having made any friends since his arrival to Starlight Academy, Bastien had been spending his time collecting oil and salt samples from trees and rocks around the campus for his studies. Although to him, his studies probably meant to him more as a passionate yet guilt-driven duty, one he has been carrying ever since the passing of his elder sister Qarijja. The thought snaps him back into focus, stinging him bitterly. He corked and sheathed the vial back into his waist pouch, and decided to take a stroll around the courtyard to clear his mind.

As Bastien was walking along the branching stone pathways he spotted a young man dressed in black, fiddling with a palm-sized stone, staring mindlessly at the ground. Having the desire to get to know people and nothing else to do in particular, Bastien decided to approach the young man.

"Are you new here, too?"

The wind blew briskly by as Haskell sat down by a large tree, laying his back against it as the leaves slowly fell down around him. A small, quiet spot which no one wished to disturb, one that he would take advantage of. He admired mother nature for the beautiful creations she had brought to the world, but not without its inherent flaws. He had been pondering his studies, wondering where to go next; he could already bring back the dead in form of a spirit, but he now needs to find a way to bring them back in a physical medium. Reanimation of the dead? Does resurrection even work? What magical power would be powerful enough for such miraculous feats?

Perhaps he needed to read more tomes on spells which would allow for him to perform these feats, but not without a magical conduit, which he lacked. Spirits aren't powerful enough, and do not possess the raw magical essence to perform such a thing. Demons, on the other hand... He can only exorcise them, but even then these are only lesser demons. To be able to control them requires skills on another level, he thought. A thought for another day?

Stressed in his lack of understanding on how to fully take advantage of his knowledge in necromancy, Haskell continued to fiddle with with one of his Godstones. The question which seemingly came out of nowhere as he was deep in thought startled him as he dropped his ruby stone onto his bag he had between his legs. Haskell had turned up to face this intruder of his peace and solitude, but tried to maintain his slight composure.

With a brief pause before he actually replied, "I got into Starlight Academy not many days ago, so you could say that." Engage the conversation, he's probably going to leave soon anyway, right?
