Anya woke up a while later. She put a hand to her head and looked around. The room was spacious, but it was dark, and from what Anya could tell, nearly empty. She waited for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. "Sabriel?" She whispered, figuring that their captor would still be around. She wasn't looking foward to conversing with him.

The boy's ears twitched when she spoke his name, and he slowly woke up. He blinked a couple of times, his vision blurry (not like there was anything much to see, anyway). His head hurt, and he wondered where they were. Sabriel slowly sat up, wondering where they were.

"Hi, Anya..." he said softly, rubbing the back of his head and flinching where he felt a nice bump. He sighed inwardly. "I'm guessing that you too don't have any idea where we are, either..."

Anya shook her head, which only made it hurt worse. It was pointless to do so anyway, since Sabriel probably couldn't see her. "Nope. But obviously we've been kidnapped. Are you hurt?" She asked.

"No. Are you?" Sabriel asked. "But, um, stupid question time. Where are you?" He couldn't see her, but she sounded close. Even so, he wanted to make sure, because being alone in this darkness wasn't exactly something he was enjoying.

The man smirked outside the door. He could faintly hear their voices, but he wasn't going to interrupt them just yet. In a few minutes he would, but he could let them suffer for now.

"Right here." Anya reached over and touched his arm so that he would know she was there. "We need to find a way out of here." She told him, her voice getting softer.

Sabriel was glad that she was right there, and took her arm as well, only so that the two wouldn't be separated. If something happened to her that he could have possibly stopped, he wouldn't forgive himself. The boy looked around, knowing he could get out of here because of all the shadows, but he couldn't teleport other people with him. He wasn't leaving without Anya. "Yeah..." he said. "Got any ideas?"

At this point, their captor entered the room. "Trying to make an escape plan, I see..." he said. By the sound of his voice, he didn't sound very old, and was probably only in his late twenties. "Well, it's futile, little children. You'll stay here until I get my ransom." At this point, a malicious smirk came over his face. "Now, if you don't behave, you might end up dead before I can get my money. I don't think yourselves or your loved ones would like that, now would they?"

Anya shrieked when he walked in. She bit her lip and took a deep breath to regain momentum. "Ransom? What are you talking about? What makes you think we're good for ransom?" She asked crossly. She was never in a good mood when she got kidnapped.

As the man walked in, Sabriel brought himself in front of Anya a little bit. If he tried to hurt her, he would have to get through him first. The boy didn't care what happened to himself as long as Anya got out of here alive. The boy narrowed his dark golden eyes, though the movement probably couldn't be seen in the darkness.

The man chuckled darkly and walked forward. As he saw Sabriel move a bit more in front of the girl, he laughed once again. "Don't worry, Sabriel. I'm not going to hurt your precious friend," he said, only to receive a cat-like hiss from the boy.

He shook his head, and crouched down in front of the two. "Your family is rich, Anya, and I need money," he explained simply. "And I know I'll probably get double the money if I took you and your little friend at the same time." He laughed again, patted the two on their head, and stood up. "I'll go give out that warning now that if I don't get the money, they'll never see you two again." That same malicious smirk came to his face and he left the room, locking the door behind him and laughing until he was too far away to hear anymore.

Sabriel growled as the man patted his head, but didn't announce that his family wasn't exactly rich. He turned to Anya. "We're in some serious trouble," he said quietly once the man had left.

Anya was grateful when Sabriel moved in front of her. "I think you have me confused with someone else." She said, but it was already too late.

She turned to Sabriel. "Yeah, we are. I wish there were some sort of light." She said wistfully.

Sabriel looked around, and slowly stood up. He slowly moved over to a wall and started feeling around. After a few minutes, he found a light switch, and turned it on. There was a small lamp hanging from the ceiling, and the lightbulb flickered slightly. It was dim, and would probably go out sometime soon. Even so, it was a light, and it would be good enough for now. "Well, there's a light," he said. "Do you think there's any trap doors or anything that could get us out of here?"
