Nevirissa "Neve"

Illusion: Sound Manipulation - Neve can create sounds that aren’t really there. She does this by manipulating already-present sound waves, so this doesn’t work when it’s quiet. She’s able to increase or decrease the volume as well as increase or decrease its reach. For example, she could turn someone’s curse word into a quack! It takes some energy to use (more energy depending on drastic volume change and distance change) and won’t work if she’s already exhausted.

Size Change - Pixies are naturally only inches tall but can change the size of their form to become smaller (down to 1 inch tall) or larger (up to 5’ if male, 4’4 if female). This process takes seven and a half minutes per foot grown/shrunk. The larger the size change, the more painful it is for the pixie while growing/shrinking just a couple inches only causes an itch. If they grow/shrink over 3 feet in one go, they cannot shrink or grow in the opposite direction for another 24-36 hours. If not on cooldown and larger than two feet tall, a sudden, solid impact can knock them straight back to their original size.

Not Fae - Pixies are not fae, nor will they register as fae to those who can determine species or read souls. They’re more closely related to humans than they are the fae.

Pixie Strength - Pixies can lift up to 20 lbs in their tiny forms and as much as a human in their condition could lift when human-sized. They’re twice as durable in their tiny forms, but they’re just as durable as a human when human-sized. When any larger than a few inches, they weigh half as much as someone of their height normally should. They have high stamina in order to keep themselves in the air.

Pixie Speed - Pixies are able to fly up to 40 mph in their original tiny forms and around 25-30 mph in their human-sized forms, slowing down the bigger they get.

Sustenance - Flower-born pixies can eat food for some energy, but they mainly need genuine laughter and smiles to stay alive. They need to be the cause of someone’s smile to feel full and energized, but any genuine laughter is free game (though it’s more fulfilling if the pixie caused it). They can also feed off any feelings of excitement that they caused, but it’s about as fulfilling as human food. On the contrary, negative expressions such as frowns, scowls, and yelling caused by the pixie causes said pixie great pain and distress, making them more ‘hungry’ for laughter and smiles. Spending time around a depressing mood makes them more sickly and weak.

Tinkly - Pixies tinkle softly when moving and jingle when making sudden movements. No exceptions. Their wings have a faint glow if well-fed with laughter and smiles.

Wings - Fairy wings are very sensitive, causing the pixie great discomfort if touched; if more than 30% of their wings are touched by human fingers, they will be unable to fly until they can wash their wings off. Their wings are weak to heat, wilting in hot conditions and rendering them unable to fly until their wings cool down; while possessing of water-resistant wings, pixies can’t fly in heavy rain or hail.

If less than 30% of a wing is damaged, the wing will be healed within a few days in which they cannot fly. If more than 30% is damaged, it can take several weeks more in which they still cannot fly. If their wings are plucked from their backs, there’s a high chance they won’t grow back at all. Fire and electric damage to wings will take twice as long to heal.

Fae - Merely hearing the word ‘fae’ makes pixies break out in sweats and shakes and gives them nightmares for a day. Physical contact with a fae/fae-touched causes a pixie great pain and nightmares for a week. The only effect it has on the fae/fae-touched is that physical contact with a pixie causes them great pain as well. If a pixie lands inside a fairy ring, they’re trapped; the only way the pixie can escape is if someone helps them out or destroys the mushroom ring.

Fire - Weak to heat, fire, and electric magics; any heat magic/aura is twice as hot to them, and fire and electric magic is twice as effective at damaging them.

Nevirissa was born from a daisy, wingless, raised and cared for by two loving pixie parents who lived in a community of pixies out in nature. Neve went to pixie school, where she learned how to control her magic and craft tiny things, but most of her knowledge was passed down to her by her parents, such as how to change sizes, proper wing care, and how to feed herself. She graduated from pixie school when she earned her wings, a symbol of adulthood in the pixie culture.

In her early adulthood, her home was raided by the fae, the pixies’ mortal enemies since several centuries before. Their homes destroyed and pixies crushed in front of her, Neve fled with her family and friends but was quickly separated from them, finding herself lost and alone, wandering the forest. She flew until she found a giant-sized civilization and, exhausted, collapsed inside someone’s bag.

The next thing she knew, she was awake on Manta Carlos, becoming a new citizen. She’s been here for a while; she doesn’t know how long since pixies don’t really keep track of time, but she’s since been a mooch and a freeloader, naturally, causing harmless trouble where she can.

Mooch! She has no official home nor a career. She doesn't require human food to live, can make her own clothes, and can sleep in any nook or cranny. This doesn't stop her from nabbing quarters off the street and buying herself some candy, though!
