Starlight Academy was fascinating to say the least, and the students in it even more so. Within the first week of orientation, Luna had learned and discovered many different things about the school and general culture of Manta Carlos. However, throughout that week she had been much to light on herself by skipping her regular training routine for the sake of familiarizing herself but today she was determined to get back into the endless grind. Moreover, she could take this as an opportunity to get to know the gym community a little more and hopefully score a practice match.

Walking into the gym, she was surprised to find it rather empty but didn't pose much of a problem. Instead, she proceeded to the nearest treadmill to start her warm-up run. Perhaps someone keen to have a duel would enter whilst she was still there.

@Max!! It's a little short, my bad.

Frysta headed into the gym, looking around before beginning to do some stretches. It was disappointingly empty today. Frysta was normally one to train on his own, today however he was kind of looking to get a match in. The young dragon wanted to get some sparring in today. Despite looking into new ways to utilize his abilities, he still needed to keep his current skills polished.

He did take note of the girl on the treadmill. She didn't seem like the fighting type, but then a lot of people didn't seem like fighters that were in fact accomplished warriors. That was still something he was getting used to, all the variety. He'd take a shot with her.

"Um... excuse me, would you be up for sparring with me?"

Upon hearing a voice call out to her, Luna immediately slowed down the treadmill and stepped off to properly facing the stranger. Placing her arms casually by her side, she stood in a relaxed posture as she gave the other a slight nod of respect. After all, she would much rather not come off as rude, especially on their first meeting. Taking a short moment to observe the new presence, she immediately noticed his hair dyed a similar azure blue shade as her own and his eyes an intensified reflection that colour. Now that sure was interesting.

Taking a step forward, she couldn't help but have a closer glimpse at the male before she replied his question, her voice composed and tone unhurried and languid. "I would be honored to have a spar." Pausing for a quick moment, she then slightly sheepishly added "Could you please lead me to the sparring rooms though? I'm a little new here."

Frysta smiled when she agreed to have a match with him. It would've gotten awkward if she'd turned him down. Oh she was a new arrival then? Well, he'd take care to help her out as much as she needed. It seemed like the school always had new arrivals, but it was almost always similar levels of adjustment needed.

"Ah no worries, if you need any help with anything else... well I guess I can share my contact information after our match," his voice was rather cheerful. He was admittedly excited to have a sparring partner that wasn't just another ice dragon. Her hair was blue like his, but she sure didn't smell like someone from his village. "Right this way."

Frysta led her a short way, to the power rooms. Plenty of people used them for sparring, as they were designed for such things. "You won't have to worry too much, these rooms are built to handle all sorts of abilities people have. It's actually impressive," he moved to one side of the room, removing his workout jacket, not that it did much for him. He took a fighting stance.

"Whenever you're ready."

Mumbling a quick thanks, Luna followed her new acquaintance to the sparring room, glad to be exchanging contact information. She was impressed to say the least; Luna was no stranger to powerful opponents and understood the immeasurable extent certain individual's capabilities can reach, however, according to him this room could bear the brunt of it. Though she had a few concerns, she eventually decided to take his word for it.

Walking a few paces away, Luna too conformed herself into a defensive stance. Her hand and hovered above the hilt of her sword for a few beats but decided against it; her opponent, being a male, was likely biologically stronger than her and she would need every trump card she can get. The tip of her tongue glided across her bottom lip as she furrowed her eyebrows in concentration, searching for any possible weakness in the other's stance. Keeping her voice in a calm and tone composed, she spoke.

"Ladies first I presume."

Wasting no time, Luna lurched forward, feinting a tackle. Once she was close enough, she then dropped to the floor and used one foot as a pivot while the other swiftly swiped in a horizontal arc to take her opponent out from his legs. A safe but calculated first move; should she miss, the momentum would propel her movement backward, giving a few meters worth of distance to cover for her split second of vulnerability.

Frysta readied himself as Luna went in for a leg sweep, a decent opening move. Frysta didn't miss a beat when it came to dodging, he moved back quickly enough. He exhaled, his breath visible. While he hadn't done anything to Luna yet, she probably felt the temperature dropping when she came in for her initial attack. His body was cooling off, and he was moving to strike back.

In spite of his generally calm demeanor, Frysta's fighting style was an intense one. Vicious, one might even say. He moved to close the distance, using his left arm to guard, striking with his right. A frigid straight punch aimed at her gut. Nothing too fancy, not yet anyway. He'd noticed her sword, and he was waiting to see how long it would take before she drew it. It was a fair trade, considering he was a dragon.

Truly, was fascinating; it seemed that the closer she got the...colder it was. The change wasn't so drastic to render her immobile but it was no doubt a noticeable change, not that she was against it. Once she regained her composure, she immediately noticed that Frysta had already closed the gap and was ready to strike. Luna was impressed to say the least, however, in the midst of a duel, anything but her full attention would be an insult to her opponent. Pushing all praiseworthy thoughts aside for the time being, she dragged her mind back into the battle.

Without much momentum left, the sidestep dodge felt sloppy but did its job regardless, her torso missing his strike by a hair's breadth. Keeping much of the weight on the balls of her feet, she allowed her instincts to guide her fluid movements and like a rubber band stretched to its limits, Luna snapped back. Twirling around, she aimed a knee kick to the center of his back, opting for precision and nimbleness rather than a display of brute power.

Frysta had no time to move out of the way if this attack, but he could still counter her strike. One thing people don't fully take into account with dragons is the fact that there really is no good place to strike them. Any competent member of the species knows how to utilize their entire bodies as weapons. And this is before factoring in any elemental prowess they might have. Frysta partially shifted, sprouting his wings to knock his opponent away.

Within his community, partial shifting was a nearly forgotten art, but for a child who's wary of someone coming to assassinate him ...it was a welcome skill to learn.

Frysta retracted his wings back into his body. He readied himself for whatever was coming next.

As the pair of great wings sprouted form his back, Luna was caught by surprise and only had enough time to cross her forearms in front of her chest forming half-assed block before being thrown behind. Rolling backward on the foor, she quickly scrambled onto her feet as she warily locked her gaze back on her opponent. Just as Luna processed that strange occurrence with a "wings, wings very big", they were already long gone. A flicker of curiosity crossed her face as she continued to stare, motionless but her posture on guard. As she spoke her tone portrayed her cluelessness yet her apathy tainted her voice.

"You're a shapeshifter? Demon? Dragon...?"

For a split second, Luna was tempted to launch an attack should her question distract her opponent even in the slightest but she refrained herself from doing so; such a style of battle was below her. That being said, the other clearly did not ask or desire to participate in any small talk hence after a few moments of standing idle, a slight awkwardness seeped into her posture.

His counter attack had done its job. Did a bit more, even given the fact that she had sort of stopped to ask him what he was. Frysta faced her down, circling her in a truly predatory fashion. He'd shifted his arms so that now they were covered in black scales, his hands ending in claws.

"I'm a dragon."

He answered calmly before rushing at her. This time he took a swipe at her with his frigid claws. If she wanted to talk, they could talk more after the match was over.
