Xylina knew that she was safe, why else would they move to a dusty old house on an island made for supernatural creatures and people that were different. She had read the letter, looked around the campus and could tell that things were different. She didn't have to pretend to be human but even so she was jumpy. She Checked her closet, her bathroom, locked all her windows twice and closed all her curtains.
She knew that there was an alarm system but for some reason no matter where she went she had trouble feeling safe. Then there was the thing with Alex, he had saved her but she had never met him. She knew that he was her brother, they both had red hair and green eyes. Her parents had shown her pictures...told her stories but she couldn't fathom another family member she had never met until recently. She felt like they had hidden him from her, just like they hid the war from her. She had ended up kidnapped because of it, kidnapped when she was actually following the strict rules on how she spent her time. Maybe if they had told her she wouldn't have felt smothered or felt like locking herself in her room to get away from people.
Alex was the only one who actually let her do her own thing, there wasn't constant hovering even if she could tell he wanted too. As much as she wanted to be the same annoying little sister she was before the kidnapping she couldn't help but want to hide away. She was a bit mischievous and rowdy...maybe that's why she was a good target. If she stayed in the house it would never happened again.
Eventually after watching reruns of Jimmy Neutron she fell asleep. Her tv casted blue and white shadows around her room. It was kind of weird, she stayed in whatever form she fell asleep in. It wasn't a surprise that she ended sleeping in her human form, her foot dangling slightly off the bed as she clutched onto her pillow for dear life.
Flashes of the room, being dragged, being hurt...they just keep playing over and over again as she tossed and turned screaming. It wasn't like anyone could hear her in her dream. Her screams were loud enough to wake up her brother. Static built up causing her hair to stand up a bit and then hit the lamp on the nightstand causing it to split in and half and fall on the floor. The sound of the lamp breaking and falling, woke Xylina up scream before he eyes scanned the room for a threat.
Once she realized she was in her room she focused on calming down. It scared her that she had stayed human, normally she turned back into a dragon. She didn't like the new place...it was new and she was scared to be herself. She was scared to look anything but human just in case.
