Zeke had never been on a date before, never even been in a situation where he thought he could ask someone out. The island had largely changed that, he'd developed a crush on Lycia, and had managed to ask her on a date. He'd dressed nicely, picked her up from the dorms, and made their way into the city.

"Luckily that snow finally stopped," he'd say as they walked, "they've started to clear everything." Indeed it made getting through the city easier, especially now with them walking together.

He'd smile, "thank you for coming Lycia," they made quite the sight, him being quite a bit short than her, her hanging on to his arm as they walked. "I think you'll like the show."

Lycia wasn't really supposed to be dating anyone without her father's permission. As a princess she was supposed to be married off to a prince or other nobleman, whatever would benefit her kingdom the best.

But she was far, far away from her family. She was on a grand adventure and sometimes you had to break rules on an adventure. Besides this was fun and Zeke was fun to be around.

She walked along with him, wrapping her arms around his and letting him lead her through the damp streets. The snow was melting but with that came lots of puddles and streams of draining water. Lycia was dressed in a shirt dress as usual but tonight it actually covered her shoulders and she was wearing nice leggings to stay warm. Because she was out in public she was wearing a hood too, though it was a darker shade than her usual daytime greys or tans. Not that she really could tell.

"I am glad to come with you for Valentine's Day. It is my first one ever," she smiled softly and looked in what she hoped was the direction of his face. It wasn't exactly right, and she was instead looking a little bit too high.

The show. He'd told her there was going to be special music but hadn't fully explained it. She hadn't quite caught on yet that he'd picked this particular event especially. "I do like to listen to music. You will describe the things I can not see, yes?" She'd agreed to come just based on him asking pretty much.

He couldn't help but blush a bit as they walked and talked, Lycia's smile seemed extra pretty tonight. "Yes of course," he'd say when she asked him to describe things, "you won't have to worry about that." It was going to be a special show, something he'd picked out especially for tonight.

They arrived at the building, he'd stop briefly at the doors to hand over their tickets before leading Lycia in. He'd describe the hall to her, how it was pretty, but simple. He'd find them their seats, with servers appearing to offer them both food. Soon they were settled in nicely.

"The show should be starting soon," he'd say, quickly checking the time on his phone and shutting it off. The musicians began to appear on stage with their instruments, with him describing them to her.

Then it began. The music start slow, lovely music, the magic reaching out to their minds to show them the first images. They'd be show a balk room and dancing colors, the colors at times forming into colors. All moving in sync with the music. It was a form of hallucination, but quite harmless.

He'd scoot a bit close to her, just in case she got scared. "Do you see?" he'd ask, both happy and nervous.

She had nodded happily, fully trusting him to guide her and describe anything important. It was pretty exciting actually.

She was all smiles and listened with rapt attention as he described everything. Even minor details seemed to amaze her as she sat there holding his hand still. Even once they were seated, and she didnt need to be guided any more, she left her hand in his.

Lycia's request from the servers was something she hadn't heard of before. Shrimp Scampi. The waiter had mentioned it on a list of specials for the evening and Lycia had jumped on the opportunity to try something new.

"It sounds like a pretty restaurant. Thank you for bringing me here for dinner Zeke," Lycia cooed as she squeezed his hand lightly.

Then the music started and it was beautiful. The instruments were not familiar to her but music itself had a certain universal quality to it. She tapped her feet lightly along with the music and grinned. But when the magic started taking effect her unseeing eyes widened. She went completely still and just watched for a few moments. She could see colors swirling and drifting into shapes around them. A room full of souls with great sweeping splashes of color.

At first she was scared. Afraid that something was wrong with her, and after the few moments of shock passed she felt Zeke a bit closer to her than before. "It is...," she began and then faltered as she was at a loss for words. Lycia leaned on Zeke and stared with mouth agape at the things she was seeing. Even if it was still all in her head it wasn't quite like her dreams. This was different because it was really happening. A distinction she sometimes forgot to think about, but there it was.

"...beautiful," she finally managed to finish her thought. Lycia's voice was full of wonder.

He'd smile when he heard her words, blush as she leaned on him, he'd give her hand a gentle squeeze. Very few things in his life had ever felt right, this was one of those few things. "It is beautiful," he'd say, watching the colors shift into various shapes, all in sync of the music, "but uh....you're more beautiful," he'd say in a moment of courage.

The colors then took a new shape, one that was vaguely of people in a ball room. They danced, twirled about as the music continued. "They're dancing," he'd say to her, the music picking up the pace and the glowing figures doing the same.

People around them gasped at the beautiful sights and sounds, the music and images working in perfect sync. Zeke was still new to magic, things like this still amazed him, and watching them with Lycia made it that much special.

Soon the figures grew wings, their dance moving to what looked like a multicolored sky. A sun of lavender appeared to greet the winged beings, shinning down onto the viewers as well. Then it seemingly started to rain around them, the drops like glass, with the light of the lavender sun shinning through. They could feel any of it, but it was an amazing sight to behold.

Lycia almost hadn't caught the compliment. She was so amazed at the music and the "visual" display in her head. Almost. "You think I am beautiful?" She seemed a little surprised. Excitable, cute, and even a little weird were all things she was used to hearing about herself. Beautiful, at least coming from someone who wasn't her parents or her handmaidens, was not so common.

She bumped the table a little, lurching their cups, as she moved to try to give him a sort of one armed hug. "You are very sweet," came her quiet reply.

And then, because her mind just worked like that, Lycia reached back to where she was pretty sure her shrimp was to try to grab one and feed it to Zeke. Probably a really bad idea given she couldn't see the shrimp or Zeke's face but... oh well.

Her attention was once more captured by the captivating performance and she mostly forgot to eat food herself. Lycia felt like she was floating in a sea of glowing light. A mixture of the glowing bundles strands of everyone's souls and of course the hallucinations from the music. She made small sounds of wonder and amazement but mostly her mouth was just hanging open a little.

Lycia couldn't help but hold out a hand- just to see if she could feel the glittering glowing raindrops. She couldnt of course but there was a pretty high chance some of this would inspire the Dream that night.

"I do not think you know how much this means to me," she whispered as tears filled her cloudy eyes. "It is like a thing from my dreams but here in the real world."

He blushed, returning the hug, accepting the piece of shrimp with a chuckle. She'd accidentally pushed it onto his cheek at first, but he didn't mind, the night was going amazingly.

Then he heard her heart filled words, saw her start to tear up. "It's why I wanted to show you," he'd scoot a bit closer, his arm slowly wrapping around her shoulders, "it seemed like something good and special, so I wanted to share it with you." It wasn't just because of his crush on her, but because of her being such a sweet, kind girl.

The angel-like beings of light floated back down, the dancing figures floating around the audience. The glowing droplets began to swirl as if the wind had picked them up. The lavender sun's rays began to change color, adding to the beauty and spectacle of it all. The swirling droplets started to come together, forming forming fountains that floated upward.

"Your first Valentines Day, so I wanted it to be special for you," he'd say, his face growing redder as he talked. He'd never dated before, but doing something nice for the girl he liked, it felt right.

Lycia was making a little bit of a mess with dinner. Apparently also on Zeke's face, but she didnt really know that. She did giggle though as she realized she missed his mouth at first.

She actually leaned into his arm as she felt it wrapping around her shoulders. Curling up into his embrace and leaning her head on his as they watched the show continue. "This is very special to me. I will not forget it," she murmured. Feeling the urge to be quieter and not interrupt things too much.

"You are a good person Zeke. I am having a lot of fun with you," she whispered to him. Lycia was interrupted though by a gurgle from her stomach and she giggled at herself. "I think I forgot to eat."

Her hand searched around for a fork and her plate again.

Zeke would smile when she leaned into him, cuddling with a girl on a date, another first, and definitely a good one. He'd chuckle just a little when her stomach growled, helping her find her plate and fork, and grabbing a bite of his own food.

The beings of light ceased their dance and began to line of in front of the audience. The water faded, as did the rays from the lavender sun. The beings bowed as the music came to an end, and in a flash of brilliant colors it all vanished. An announcer arrived into the stage, saying that there'd be another show shortly, and that they were giving everyone some time to chat and eat.

Turning to Lycia he'd smile, she course it, but she made him smile quite a bit. Glancing down at the show plan they'd all be given he'd quickly read what was coming next. "So, after we eat they're going to remove all the tables and stuff, make room so we can dance with the lights," he'd take a quick sip of his drink, "I'm really enjoying this, thank you for coming with me."

He'd eat a bit of his food, chuckling and wiping at his cheak, having remembered the small mess that was there. "I was a little nervous about tonight, but it's going amazingly."

With Zeke's help it was much easier to find her food. Although it was kind of getting a little cold from being neglected it still tasted delicious. The shrimp reminded her of a tiny version of desert worms but not in a bad way. She munched along as the dancing lights took their bows and Lycia happily clapped for the performers.

She couldn't see him smiling at her. Or him turning towards her for that matter. Lycia just assumed he was probably finishing his own food or looking at something. Since he'd started explaining the next event she figured it was probably him reading whatever it was he had with the schedule on it. "Dancing?" Her smile ignited again. "That sounds fun. But you have to keep me from falling or running into people." Although the mental image of her twirling around bumping into people until she was too dizzy to stand up was kinda fun. She'd done that in the Dream before. At a grand party back home too, though she had gotten in trouble for that one.

Nervous about tonight? Why would that be? Lycia turned towards his voice, accidentally bumping into his head a little with a soft thunk. She made a startled noise and reached up to hold her head.

There was a long pause before Lycia broke down into a fit of giggling. "... do not be nervous. It is a very fun night even mistakes happen." The waiter came over to check on them and then remove their plates as Lycia was giggling. The waiter looked between them, with the girl giggling happily while cuddling up with the guy, and gave Zeke a hidden thumbs up of encouragement behind Lycia's back.
