Isaac approached the stables. It was well after dark by now, but midnight was prime time for creatures of the night such as himself. He was supposed to be only drinking donated blood, but that wasn't as satisfying as the real thing. Animals didn't satisfy him, either, but he at least found it rather calming to be around the horses, they were better than people in most ways, especially because they didn't really talk.

Slipping into the stables, Isaac drew near to one of the stalls bearing the name plaque "Lily" and reached his hand out to rub the white horse's face. It snorted softly and pressed against his palm. "Good girl," he hummed. Even animals seemed to be drawn in by his vampiric aura, instead of realizing that he was a predator...which was helpful when it came to finding his next meal. Fear made the blood taste different, but it was best when his subjects were relaxed...sweeter, in a sense.

Isaac pulled an apple from his pocket and placed it on a flat palm, feeding it to Lily. Her soft lips grazed his hands and her whiskers tickled his fingers, making him pull a corner of his mouth up into a smirk. He continued to rub the horse's face. It was nice here. Quiet. He could get used to this place.

Ven was absolutely exhausted but what else was new.

He was dressed rather casually than normal--a pair of black jeans, a tight t-shirt with a metal band logo scrawled over it, and a pair of fingerless gloves that were less for the style and more for stopping him from scalding his hands on the coffee he drank so very frequently. Unfortunately, the coffee cup he carried was empty, and he discarded it shortly.

Ven was painfully lost.

He could tell by the smell of horses that he was out by the stables somewhere. His soul had slipped out earlier in the afternoon and he'd woken up...in a field. He wasn't entirely sure how he'd ended up there, but the stable was the first building that Ven thought he might find a familiar face to help him.

Unfortunately, he could barely keep his eyes open. Ven fought off the waves of exhaustion that were gripping him.

Luckily, there was someone standing in the stables--another student, if Ven could judge by apperances.

"Uh, excuse me," Ven called into the stables, leaning against the door frame. "Any chance you could tell me....where the hell I am, I guess?"

Ven had not learned the first rule of the island: don't tell strangers in dark places that you're alone and lost.

Lily was pushing her head against Isaac's chest while he rubbed her long white neck when he heard someone approaching and looked up, watching as a boy entered the stable, looking lost. Hm. Could be a meal, if he played his cards right. The boy also looked rather exhausted. He supposed it made sense; it was rather late at night, after all.

"Stables," Isaac replied dryly. Wasn't that a little obvious? Maybe he wasn't a student, so Isaac added, "Starlight Academy." Perhaps that would clarify things. Isaac pulled another apple from his pocket and fed it to Lily, then combed his fingers through her silky mane.

The stables. Right. That's why there were horses.

Ven leaned against the door further, trying to make sure he was balanced. Yes he was. He was doing okay. He could keep a grip on himself until maybe, just maybe, he went home.

"Okay, so the stables, thanks," he said, resisting the urge to say Captain Obvious. Actually Ven was more concerned with another pressing issue: "Why are you at the stables in the middle of the night? Are you lost, too?"

Isaac stumbled back a little as Lily pushed her head against his chest once more. "I don't have any more," he told her, pushing her back gently and scratching her head while she nickered contentedly and nuzzled into his hand.

He shrugged at the other boy's question, "Not lost. Just nocturnal. I came here because I was bored, I prefer the company of animals to the company of people. They can't talk back." And they seemed to also be affected by his aura, which was why the horse seemed to like him so much. The aura that hid the predator that he was.

"I suppose you're going to want help finding your way back," Isaac gave a put-upon sigh. Since the horses couldn't talk or give directions, he was going to have to be the one to do it.

Ven had to admit, he didn't exactly blame the other boy's logic for preferring the company of animals over people. There was a certain ring of truth to it that resonnated with his corse.

"Fair enough," Ven sighed. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his fist, and when the other boy mentioned leading him back, Ven exhaled again--this time with relief.

"That would be absolutely wonderful," Ven said. "If you could get me back to the main building, I'd really owe you one. let me know how I could make it up to you, if you can."

Isaac gave Lily one final face-rub before stepping away from the stall. He'd return once he'd completed this...errand. He liked spending time with the horses out here, and he felt like they probably didn't get enough attention from the other students. He wondered who took care of them. Probably someone who was hired by the school.

A thoughtful look crossed his face as Ven brought up the subject of payment. "Well. Now that you mention it, I suppose you could owe me a meal," he replied, flashing a set of pointy fangs to make his point that it was not the traditional kind of meal that he was talking about.

Here was the problem with being tired.

Ven wasn’t exactly a stupid person. He did his best to pass his classes and keep up on his studies, but when he ran the risk of passing out in the middle of an exam or an important timed assignment, it meant he was missing a lot of information. He was often left cramming everything he could in whatever waking time he had, so certain very important details often slipped through the cracks.

Right now, Ven’s main concern was getting back. He was using every remaining ounce of energy he had to keep focused on his goal: get back to the dorms and someplace safe before you pass out, Ven.

Which meant that the other boy’s flash of fangs in the darkness fell right through the cracks of Ven’s mind.

“Yeah, no problem,” Ven said, and he gave a tired nod and equally tired smile in return. “Just tell me what you like to eat and I’m happy to get it for you.”

Ven started to follow the other boy, moving away from the safety of the barn door. Unfortunately, Ven felt a horrible—and all too familiar—feeling start to course through his body.

“oh, shit,” was all he managed to say before his body betrayed him and his legs started to buckle. If he’d been near the doorway, he might have been able to grab onto it, but the cataplexy came on too fast and left Ven tumbling into the other boy.

It didn't seem apparent that the boy understood what Isaac was, by his casual response. He opened his mouth to clarify what he meant by 'meal' when the boy suddenly started to collapse. Normally, Isaac would have just watched, but the boy was too close and hit him. Reflexively, Isaac caught him, his vampire strength helping to keep him from faltering in the slightest. His skin was cold against the other's, like ice...it was his natural temperature. He raised an eyebrow.

He realized quickly that the boy wasn't able to recover and support himself, so Isaac knelt to ease him slowly onto the ground, leaning him back against the wooden slats of the nearby stall. "Uhh. You okay there?" He lifted a hand and rubbed the back of his head, confused, but not really all that concerned.

Ven was going down and he didn't even get to yell 'timber' or anything else kind of funny before it happened. Luckily, the other guy managed to catch him. Holy shit, he was cold. Ven struggled to try to regain some kind of control over his body, but it was coming and going rapidly. His vision doubled and he blinked, shaking his head, trying to think not now not now.

When he finally managed to get his voice back, Ven nodded. His mouth felt dry.

"Yeah," he croaked, tilting his head to crack his neck. "Thanks for that. I uh...that happens sometime. I can't really control it."

He gave a tired laugh and looked at the other man.

"I feel bad crashing into you and I don't even know your name," he said, offering out his hand. "I'm Ven, by the way."
