Zachary smiled at her answer. It was as good as any, and was about what he had said when he had first been presented with the book.
"The book of red moon is the first book Garou are presented with when they are to learn about the history of the changing breeds and the world itself. We're unsure as to how many changing breeds there are exactly due to some wars that I'll cover some time. For now, this book tells about when Gaia was new, when she lived and when the spirit world and this one were one. The changing breeds were supreme and we kept humans much as they keep cattle today. When they grew too big in number we culled them so that they would be manageable. During this time all Garou were of one mind, but they fractured into tribes and the rest of the changing breeds eventually saw the folly in keeping human numbers low." It was a part of the history that he wasn't proud of. When he had first heard about this he had almost forsaken the Garou then and there.
"Such times were called the imperium. This lasted for over a thousand years, and to this day it is the reason why humans, most humans anyway, go into a state of shock when they see one of us transform into our war form. Naturally not all of the tribes agreed. The Red Talons, those born of wolf blood, cursed the day and swore we would regret it. Unfortunately we were right. Human expansion has pushed many species to the brink of extinction and today humans cull wolf numbers. Some call it karma, I call it pointless bloodshed. I digress, the tribes today are: The children of Gaia, the Fianna, the bonegnawers, the glasswalkers, the silent striders, the silver fangs, the get of fenris, the wendigo, the uktena, the shadow lords, the black furies, and there still exist the star gazers though they have left for the beast courts of asia which is where I am from." It was complex, there was so much information and it had taken months for him to learn all of it when he was taught.
" As we're focusing on me, I'll touch on the beast courts. There are two tribes of werewolves native to asia. The Hakken, the sister tribe to the shadow lords though we are nothing alike, and the star gazers. I am of the Hakken tribe. Beyond that the beast courts consist of the Khan-weretigers, the Samebito-weresharks, the Tengu- werecrows, the Zhong Lung-weredragons, the silent striders, the wererats who's japanese name i've forgotten... i think it was the Nezumi, and, most recently, the Kitsune. The Nagah, or weresnakes, exist there as well." He stopped, not wanting to overload her with information all on the first dat-.. meetin-, get together.
"Basically I'm saying we have a very rich and extensive culture. For you to learn everything about everything would take years literally. As for the humans going insane when they see us change, for some reason I'm an exception. The veil doesn't protect me like it does others of my kind. It makes it more dangerous when I change because other than the obvious intimidation factor, a human will not forget about seeing me. He will not rationalize me as a figment of his imagination, and he won't run in terror. It's unfortunate, but I've learned to cope." He said. There was more, but he wanted to gauge her reaction thus far.
