Kadir al-Akram

A man sized cloud of mist would quickly float into the hall, reforming into a young man in a clear area away from the group. Kadir wore a decent looking tex and a black mask, while it all looked good on him it was a first for him so his tie was a little off.

He'd look over the all with his sharp eyes before making to the table and grabbing a cup of punch. Never in his life had he been to anything like this before, it was so fancy, the gruff young man felt a bit out of place.

The half Jinn would drink his punch rather quickly and start to wander a bit, looking to see if he recognized anyone. Then he spotted her, he'd chuckle a tiny bit and walk to her, "nice hat you you got there," he'd say, looking her over, "you look good."

He was unaware that his close proximity had his dance partner on edge to some extent. He might have noticed her stiffen up at little at it, if he had been expecting it. However she was the one who asked him to dance after he had left the implication there. He would not have dreamed that women did so while not wanting to in anyway.

"Around a year and a half I believe." He said to her question. "Long enough to be a quite the boulder for me. Short enough that it might be a pebble of time for others." He added, making it clear that he was young and not the long lived with the fact a year was such a large time. His comment for those it wouldn't be a small amount of digging to figure out how old she was compared to him.

Glancing over the various people clustered around the refreshments table Left Paw identified a few that appeared to be alone. It was difficult to know whether someone was just waiting or actively looking for a partner to dance with though. Left Paw decided it was time to just move forward and approach one of them. There was little reason to wait any longer.

He stepped forward towards the woman in the white and gold dress. She had been standing by one of the pillars with her back to it. A reasonable way to watch the rest of the room. She did not appear to be waiting for food or in the process of eating so Left Paw walked closer. "Hello. Are you waiting for someone else or would you like to dance with me?" Simple and to the point. There wasn't any hesitation.

Far enough behind Left Paw to give him and the person he was approaching a little space, but not too far, Right Paw continued to keep pace with Left Paw. She was not paying attention to the woman in gold and white. That woman was Left Paw's focus. Instead she was looking around at everyone else. Other available people, the table of food, dancers, even the entrances and exits were part of her shifting gaze. Possible opportunities for dancing were noticed, and were perhaps going to slip away without being pursued, but she did not stray any further to approach them while Left Paw proceeded with his attempt.

Top hat had indeed been able to get her hands on some champagne, and was sipping it at the edge of the ballroom, pretty bored. Maybe she should just scarce, this didn't really seem worth going through all the trouble of renting a suit and putting on makeup.

She smelled him before he got close, and turned to look at Kadir as he walked up to her, obviously recognizing her. Her lips twitched a bit, he had sharp eyes. But since they were in a masquerade...
"Do I know you?"
She answered, and sipped her champagne with a small smirk.

"Looking. That's a definite maybe. I honestly came here to have fun, yet wouldn't mind making friends or something more." He twirled Dorothy. His mother would be happy to know that he was finally dancing with other people. "How about you, My dear Dorothy? Anyone in your life?"

She let out a light giggle when she was twirled. “Yes I do have someone special, but I could always use more friends.” She tilted her head slightly, having fun a ball did seem like a great way to spend the night. “You just gotta find your cinderella but get more than a slipper at the end of the night.”

He smiled. "What if I just got a slipper, oh Dorothy? How would you get home without my help then?" While he was referencing the book, he also meant that she couldn't go far without both shoes on her feet unless she walked barefoot. "Would that make me your prince charming?"

She blinked a bit confused beneath the mask she was wearing. “Well I hear hot air balloons are in this season.” Oh she really hoped he wasn’t flirting then again she had admitted to having someone so she figured he was just being friendly. She had no problem with joking around and he was a decent dancer.

“As long as you’re the kind of Prince Charming that doesn’t mind being a good looking friend, sure.” She looked around the ballroom one more time surprised she’d managed to dance this long without an accident.

Since when could he speak like that? The mask was getting to him. "Yeah, hopefully, no one gets stuck in one this time," He laughed. This girl, she got all his jokes, and she made more just like them. Even if she was taken, he still had to know who she was. "I don't mind. Your Special someone probably might though. You think I'm good looking, and I think I just flirted with you by mistake."

James Logan

As they danced his ability would allow him to see her outline whenever she went out of sight. He wished he could turn true sight off so he couldn't cheat but it was always on, he couldn't help it. After a bit of waiting he decided it was time to cut, he was patient but he thought it was time to step in.

Moving to the dancing duo he'd smile, "mind if I cut in? We had a game going, had to find my girlfriend and it seems I've successfully done that." He'd give Marcus a calm friendly smile, James was a pretty patient and calm person.
