Ray smiled at the waitress thankfully. "I'll have a water with lemon." she inquired. Then the waitress was gone. Ray shifted her position to get more comfortable. Adrian was so going to be dead after this.

Ray had a sudden thought that he might be walking home too. She forced herself to remain calm. He owned a car, and he could drive. Which of course made her feel a little nervous because she was in a very tiny dress and she didn't really want to walk home alone.

She was so lost in thought that she almost missed the waitress coming back to ask for their orders. Ray ordered the cheapest thing on the menu, the Chicken Cesar salad. And then she went back to playing with the salt shaker, focusing all of her attention on it. This wasn't awkward. Not at all. Adrian was so going to die and by her hand.

When the waitress had taken Chris' order, she disappeared again, and Ray nibbled on her lip. Her mind raced for a conversation starter that could not possibly have an alterior motive. "So what do you think of SA?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. Lame question. Smile and bear it. she told herself, inwardly groaning at her stupidity.

Chris couldn't suppress a grin when she said something about liking SA. "You know, that sounded awfully like a question that someone on a blind date would ask." He noted how uncomfortable she seemed and measured it up to his own level of uncomfort. Alright, he couldn't stand it anymore.

"Ehh, Ray. I'm really sorry for the things I said at the beach. You're right, I shouldn't have been there at all. It was none of my business and I apologize for all of my actions and words." He held a hand across the table for her to shake if she agreed. "Friends?"

Ray returned his grin and laughed. "Yeah...I'm pretty sure any question can pass as a blind date question." she remarked. She looked a little stunned when he apologized.

Then she nodded her head. "Yeah. I guess I was pretty angry too. I never think when I'm mad. I'm sorry too." she took his hand with a smile. "Friends." she agreed, though in the back of her mind she told herself, Oh please let him have forgotten my parting comment. She took her hand back and layed it flat on the table, trying to ignore the tingly feeling that had been caused.

"Alright then." He shifted in the seat a bit, noting that this could be a verrrrrry long night. Not if he was careful about what he said and such, but he knew it could be uncomfortable for both of them. Especially since her last comment kept playing over and over in his head, making his thoughts all confused and squishy.

Dinner had finally ended and Chris went to pay the bill. He returned with a sucker for her and handed it to Ray with a flourish. "Here you go Ma'am." He lead the way to the door, peering outside at the dark night. There was absolutely no sign of Scythe and his car. "I'm going to kill her. She said I'd be walking home but I didn't think she was serious." He stuck his head out the door anyway, just in case he had missed her. No such luck. "There's no chance that you're getting picked up is there?"

Ray took the sucker and immediately popped it into her mouth, following him out the door. She rubbed her forehead, not sure whether to be uncomfortable, nervous, or excited. "Looks like there's gonna be a double homicide tonight." she muttered, looking around for Adrian's car, though she knew he had been serious.

She heaved a sigh. "They're making us walk home." She wondered how on earth Adrian had escaped the protective big brother gene. It was like he was purposefully trying to set her up with Chris. She stepped out into the dark night before that idea could show it's self in a blush and she crouched down, removing her high heeled shoes from her feet. She turned and smiled at Chris. "Well, at the same time, I'm glad you're walking home too, 'cause I wasn't too keen on walking home alone."

Chris watched in amusement as Ray slid off the high heels. "Those things must be deadly to walk in." He quipped, looking out at the long dark road that lay ahead of them. In reality it wasn't that long, but it could still be pretty scary. Especially if you were in a dress, which Chris was glad he was not because that would just be stupid. "Even if I was walking the opposite way of you I think I'd have to walk you home first." He shrugged, starting to walk but keeping pace with her.

"That dress is a beacon for 'Attack me! I'm alone and defenseless!' Not the smartest choice." Though he figured she hadn't had anything to do with the choosing he still liked it on her. He cleared his throat , unsure of how she would take the compliment. "You... You look really nice in it Ray."

Ray grinned up at him. "Oh they are very deadly. They're why I tripped." she chuckled, holding said heels by their ankle straps.

She nodded. "Yeah. I guess I should have figured that if Adrian and Scythe picked out this dress they'd have somebody safe to walk me home." And then he cleared his throat. She glanced up at him with a raised eyebrow. And then she looked away, desperately trying not to blush as badly as she knew she was.

Suddenly she felt a loss on balance, and reached out for anything to stead her. Unfortunately, that anything was Chris' arm, and she wound up bringing him down with her.

"What the-" SMASH! Chris was dragged down as Ray tripped and fell. He was a little embarassed to find their faces separated by only a few inches. " Ehh hi." He composed himself super fast than cracked a shy smile. On second thought, I don't think it's exactly safe to walk home with you." He joked, quickly disentangling himself from her and reaching down to offer her a hand. "Are you allright? I'm pretty sure you landed on me, but you know." Flashing her a grin Chris experimented to make sure no bones were broken or twisted.

"I'm in perfect working order." He jiggled a leg to prove it, though he doubted she could see in the dark. As it was he could barely see the end of his nose. He still felt a little tingley from her grabbing him but he awsn't sure if that was because he was developing a bruise or for some... other reasons.

She couldn't help but blush with his face just a few inches from hers. She discovered, once he was standing and offering a hand to her, that she had been holding her breath, and took his hand, standing and smiling a bit shyly too. "I think it's the dress that makes me trip, not the shoes." she joked uneasily, trying to erase the fall from her memory.

She looked away and smiled softly. "Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for breaking my fall." she teased, acting as though their fall hadn't rattled her in the least. Thinking about it again, however, just made her blush more, and she was extremely thankful that it was dark.

"Come on, let's go. The sooner I get back the sooner I can change into more comfortable, less accident prone clothes." she joked, starting forward again.

Pfft, he had just realized how easy it would have been to kiss her when they were both down. He had always been a little slow on the uptake when girls were concerned. Figuring that it was probably not the best of ideas, nor the mose comfortable pushed the thought out of his mind when they were up and walking again. Mrrr, silence. Not good, it allowed to many thoughts to embed themselves in his tiny little man-boy brain.

"Ehh, no problem. Just try to give me a little bit more warning and next time I might be able to catch you with less pain." He teased, unsure if he could trust himself awlking so close to her. But he had no choice, especially if he now had to keep an eye out for falling girls. "What are you going to do when we get back? Besides killing Adrian I mean." Crud, he hadn't meant that to sound like an invitation to do something later.
