Ray had figured out her power after several terror filled memory exchanges, and had already made herself at home. She was good at boarding, and even though it made her unpopular with the girls, all the guys who skated seemed to be accepting of her.

At the moment, she was in a circle of about 5 guys, laughing and chatting with them. She was obviously the center of attention, but it was only because of the tricks she'd pulled on her board earlier that day.

Her hair was pulled into a messy bun, and her figure concealed by a pair of baggy jeans and a baggy graphic tee. However, there was no grime on her face this time. She brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face, revealing a fresh pink scar that ran lengthwise down her forearm.

A guy made a crude joke, and Ray laughed, slugging him gently in the arm. She rolled her eyes, and said, "Oh come on, what are you, in Kindergarten?" to which his ears turned red and his pal beside him was like, "Oh burn."

Chris had been wandering aimlessly, as he had taken to doing since registering at SA, and had decided to pop into the Lounge. When he saw Ray he did a double take, noting how many guys were around him. He felt a twinge of something, either jealousy or brotherlyness, he couldn't quite place it. No smile adorned his face this time but he was unsure of whether or not he should make himself known.

Though the guys around her were all sitting or lounging around he figured that he could easily squish them. Deciding to say something he moved so that he was beside Ray, glaring at the guy nearest him who dared try and complain. "Hey Ray." there, short and simple,. He didn't think he could handle anything more than that.

Ray glanced at Chris and sidled a bit more to the side to allow room for him. "Hey Chris." she grinned up at him, and then introduced the other guys.

They all seemed a little uncomfortable, but Ray's lack of nervousness soon transferred to them, and they were back to teasing Ray as though Chris was just another one of the guys.

One of the guys made a joke, and Ray laughed, tipping her head back to laugh harder. Everyone else was laughing too, but Ray was completely unaware that all eyes were on her, since her own eyes were closed. She ended her laugh with a chuckled and poked the guy in the side. "That was a good one." she complimented, grinning up at him.

Chris, against his better judgement, sat down casting a raised eyebrow to the exchange. On the outside he was perfectly calm but on the inside he was fuming just a teensy little bit. She had laughed awfully hard, did she really find it that funny? Or maybe she was messing with him. No, why would she do that? After Ray had taken off he had chased after her and brought her home, It had been one of the quietest rides of his life. She hadn't said a word about what happened to make her scream and take off like that but Scythe, who by consoling and such in the closet, had learned the truth and told Chris on the phone when he called to check up later that week.

Since then he had packed to come here and had taken a few days to fit in. But fit in he had, better than Scythe and with no crazy girlfriend to boot. He had seen Ray but it was always just a quick glimpse as she ran off to do whatever with the group that followed her around. No need to fume, they were just casual admirers. Right?

Having Chris around made her feel slightly uncomfortable and squirmy. She cast a glance his way, and wondered why he had a raised eyebrow. This of course made her more uncomfortable. Had she done something wrong? Said something wrong? She grinned easily and moved back a bit. "I think I'm gonna go you guys. I'll see y'all later." she waved and turned on her heel, walking away with a confident air she didn't feel.

Once her back was turned to them however, the confident grin on her face disappeared, and she nibbled on her lip, absently tracing her new scar. She was pretty sure Chris had no interest in just how uncomfortable he made her. So she'd just pretend he didn't.

Her mind raced for a direction, and she suddenly changed directions going towards the door to outside.

Now Chris was definitely confused. He excused himself without a word to the others, which probably didn't matter as they were breaking up into their own little groups anyway, and followed Ray to the door. He didn't say anything, nor move loudly to announce his presence. He wanted to think before he said anything.

But it looked like she was going to take off yet again and he wanted to talk. "Ehh, Ray?" Was she avoiding him? Was she uncomfortable around him? "Did I do something wrong?" Chris knew that they would have to find a way to stop being so uncomfortable if Adrian and Scythe continued to be friends. Especially since his mother was so prone to throwing parties and the like with the Mischeatos.

Ray spun around when she heard Chris's voice, and shifted uncomfortable for a moment, answering just a bit too quickly. "What? No. Not at all. I'm just really tired. I've had my fill of large groups for today that's all." she took a breath to say more, and then realized she was babbling, and so shut it again.

She decided to look anywhere but him. "Umm.. Why? What made you think that?" she asked, locking eyes with him for a split second, before looking away again.

Alright, so she denied the accusation, he could live with that. "Well, it's just that you seem to be avoiding me." He rubbed the back of his head. Just what was going on here? Why did he even really care? He didn't. Okay, so why was he still standing here? And why was he talking to himself? This was weird beyond belief.

"I don't know really. Everytime I go to say hi or whatever you're gone." This was too weird for his liking and he slowly started to back away. "Sorry, I've got to be somewhere to do... something." Oh yeah, smooth.

Ray watched him leave with a confused look on her face. It didn't last long, because the skater who had made the joke earlier approached her. "Hey Ray?"

Ray looked up with a raised eyebrow at him. "Yeah Greg. What's up?" she cocked her head, waiting for an answer.

Greg shifted and looked very cute. "Um, well. After getting to know you, I really like you." he said, getting his confidence back at the end.

Ray looked even more confused. "Um.. Okay?" she said, nibbling on her lip nervously.

Greg shook his head and grinned at her. "No that's what you're supposed to say AFTER I ask you out." he moved closer to her and grinned down. "So Ray, do you wanna go out on a date tonite?"

Ray's eyes widened slightly. "Um...." she was stunned.

Greg chuckled. "Great. I'll meet you in the lobby at 7." And then her was gone, leaving a very stunned Ray behind.

Whoa there bucko! Did he just hear what he thought he heard? What he thought he heard was a rather shy boy, one he recognized from the group, asking Ray out and then taking her stunned surprise as acceptance. A part of him wanted to go back and bash the guys face in, but the smarter side of him decided just to keep on walking.

So he kept walking, cracking his knuckles to aleviate some tension. He managed to find the way back to his room and slammed the door shut, causing a disgruntled look from his roommate. He snarled at the guy who immediately shut up and turned back to his books before sitting on his bed in frustration. What the heck was he going to do?

[[TIMEWARP, whoosh and all that jazz]]

Chris, in the many hours before seven had gone from glaring angrily at the floor to glaring angrily at his roommate and eventually to pacing up and down the room angrily glaring at everything. Finally his roommate kicked him out, muttering something about him waring a pathway into the carpet. He didn't mind, the room was to small for him anyway. So he was in the hallways, now what?
