When she looked his, and their eyes met, she stiffened and gulped. He was really close.
Her voice faltered the first time she spoke, so she cleared her throat and tried again.
"A-A kiss. A real one." Her voice grew higher the longer she spoke, so she cut her request short, looking ready to bolt.
She thought this could have gone two ways.
1) Laetus had no idea what she was talking about and kissed her on the cheek.
Or 2) she made him uncomfortable and she'd have to try her damnedest to never show her face around him again, ever.

He may not be romantically knowledgeable, but he was still old enough to know this much. Laetus blushed a bit, taken off guard at her request. He stood there for a moment, coming to understand the request. When it finally clicked, he smiled. Laetus put his hand under her chin, gently tilting her head back before bringing his lips softly to hers.
Maddie hadn't expected that, truthfully. She had seen this request crashing and burning all around her.
Having never been kissed before, Maddie wasn't sure what to do, or where to put her hands. So she stood still because it seemed like the smartest thing to do.
This kiss felt softer than Maddie had imagined them to be. In the movies, people didn't appear to kiss softly. In the movies, kisses were hard and passionate, and sometimes in the rain.
Her heartbeat had jumped in her throat, and she felt the hum of it in the tips of her fingers and toes.

Though it lasted moments, it felt, at least to Laetus, that it lasted forever. In truth, this was pretty new to him as well. When he finally came away, he was a bit nervous that he had done it too long. His cheeks were the same cherry red that hers often were.
"S-something like that... Right?" He asked, a nervousness in his voice she had never heard from him before, though he tried to play it off with his usual smile.

Maddie opened her eyes. She didn't want to move her mouth, to speak and break the tingling sensation. She nodded, reaching up and brushing the tips of her fingers to her lower lip. She was glad not to be the only one blushing.
"T-Thanks," she replied in what, to Maddie, sounded dumb.
Thanks was not what you said to someone who kissed you. Not at all. But Maddie couldn't think of what else she might say about it. You have soft lips? That felt like the best thing ever? My stomach feels like a butterfly house?

"O-oh, um..." He laughed nervously then sighed and slumped, defeated by his inability to think. "T-the same thing, honestly. I... Kinda... Talked through my chance back on the boat thingy."

The moment was awkward, but it made Maddie smile and in the next second she laughed. Not a hard laugh, but a breathy, relieved chuckle.
"Good thing you didn't. Then what would I have spent my wish on?"
Maddie wished her hands weren't so clammy, and her face wasn't hot. Seeing him so nervous gave her an unusual bit of strength. Her voice, when she chose to speak again, wasn't even wavering. It was just pure elation.
"I never thought my first kiss would be so awkward, or after I threw up. I'm glad it wasn't like the fairytales. Now it just feels unique to me...and you. I'm glad it was you I got to share it with."

"I'm glad you feel that way... It was... Really nice." He mumbled, trailing off. He was surprisingly lacking in words to say.

And I just realized... Laetus is gonna end up on a list, isn't he XD You think the fact he's young for his species means anything?
