"You do realize that's kinda messed up, right? You don't...hurt anyone do you?"

Maddie tensed. Did the fae have different morals than humans? Maddie thought it must have been so because he wasn't shaken up by the idea of crime at all.

Maddie stepped closer to him, as if he might protect her from her negative thoughts.

Laetus looked confused. He patted her head. "Ofcorse not. It's a game. Wouldn't be any fun if I did that, would it?"

Maddie couldn't understand how he saw kidnapping people as a game, but, at least, his money wasn't "blood money". Technically.

The later it became int he day, the more crowded the fair was. By the time Maddie and Laetus had returned there, the place was packed.

Maddie had suggested they ride the circly wall thing (her exact words). As they waited in line, Maddie was staring at Laetus expectantly, a coy smile in place.

Laetus agreed. A good choice. As they waited in line, however, she kept giving him a look he didn't understand. He tilted his head at her. "What's on your mind, Cherry-chan?"

"I'm just waiting for you to do that cute thing where you start tapping your foot and getting all frustrated."

She looked away from him so he couldn't see the blush coloring her forehead and making its way down her face.

"I was almost looking forward to it."

Laetus laughed. "Well it won't seem genuine now that you've said something." He teased. It was odd though, he wasn't being impatient like he usually was. He was still thinking about her questioning. Did she really think he would hurt someone for money? ... Well, maybe he could show her how fun it could be some time... or... maybe he shouldn't. He could always find another way to make money...
As usual, his thoughts trailed off into tangents.

"I can pretend," she grinned. "Or we could switch roles, and I could be the impatient one making portals, and you be the shy little girl."

Luckily, they wouldn't have to resort to that. They were finally at the front of the line.

"Don't get queasy. That would be the worst."

He grinned at this idea. When she turned to get on the ride, she would see a flash out of the corner of her eye. When she looked again, Laetus would be replaced with a young girl, about the same height as she was.

"I don't do shy though." She said, sticking her tongue out at Maddie. The girl would grab her hand and drag her onto the ride. "And I don't get queasy either." She added as they got into place on the ride. She would turn her head and smile at Maddie.
"Ready, Cherry-chan?" She asked as the ride started spinning.

Maddie stumbled after the girl into the ride. She hadn't realized her (she?) could do that! Wait...did that technically make...?

Once she had been strapped in, Maddie continued to stare at the girl. "So, you...are a girl?"

Maddie didn't know some magic let people switch gender like that. Had he switched sex or was it some illusion?

Then the ride began, and all Maddie could hear was the roar of wind and screaming in her ears. All she could see was a blur of different colors. Red, yellow, black, brown.

Then her stomach knotted.

The girl laughed. "IIIILLLLL EXPLAAAAIIIN AFFFTERRRR THE RIIIDDEEE" She yelled over the sounds of screaming and whirling.
