Looking for friends, family, mentors and/or ideas for a new character!

Hello~!

I'm wanting to make a teenaged character who's story is going to be focused on redefining and understanding herself in this new world. I'm still hashing out a lot (most) of her story, the things I know I want to touch on for sure are gunna be listed below. This story is something I've been thinking off & on about for a while to kinda go through my own thoughts on what my questioning of my gender is, and that's how I tend use my characters so bleh.

Her Story Beats:

her transition (mtf)
- This is likely going to be her initial driving motivation as she arrives on the MC Islands, a new place a new self! Somewhere she can be who she wants to be without fear or social rejection
self-discovery
- Part of her transition is re-figuring out who she is. What hobbies are really her, what stuff did she do to cope & shove down her feelings of transness? What parts of her does she like or not like? etc.
- I also want to focus on her forming friendships and exploring a lot of new things in this.
Pursuing Passions/Dreams
- There's more to her than just being trans, so I want to make sure part of her story is pursuing her passions once she decides what those things are.
- This & her hobbies are up in the air as I'm hashing out exactly the kind of character I want to write.

Plot Ideas:

An old friend from her old life has come with her to the island, and now she's stuck in a way. Playing up who she used to be around them, too scared to tell them the truth to lose their friendship.
- Eventually they'd either discover her actual gender identity or she'd grow comfortable enough to come out to them. Friendship strengthens
She meets an older LGBTQ+ islander/student, and they can help her with understanding herself and accepting herself. Sort of a general mentor figure and good friend who can help her adjust to island life in general and give advice on relationships, her transition, school etc.
New friends she makes on the island who never knew her before and only know her as her. Could be tied into the "old friend" story as they eventually form a larger friend group that all hang out.

Notes:
As you can probably tell, this character is still hugely under development, and I'm in the stage of sort of sifting through ideas until I settle on a handful I want to cover and enjoy. So, if anybody wants to design old friend(s) of hers, we can work on them together and build up their old lives and cultures etc.! I find this collaborative story writing aspect a lot of fun, so please please lemme know if you want to!

Any species is open to use for her old family/friend, I'm not entirely sure what I want her to look like honestly, but I think some sort of animal-esq creature though that certainly isn't required. They can also just look/be magical humans x3 Obviously, friends/mentors she meets on the island can be literally anything.

I think i want her to eventually do work as a professional artist! So other plots could be tied into her learning and honing those skills in a variety of mediums and finding mentors in those fields or meeting teachers to learn from! <3

I have a couple of characters who could help out with her self-discovery:

DeShawn Shine - A long-time and outspoken member of the LGBT+ community. He's a gender non-conforming trans-masc. Simply being on the island and having the option to change was enough for him to feel comfortable. Additionally, he's a big online personality on MCI and the English parts of the Narrow Reality, doing digital art and gaming streams.

Konpeitō Hatsu - He's also a trans man, but only came out when he came to the island in 2019. With the short amount of time he's been alive, having grown up in Japan, and his pre-island social experience being the internet, the LGBT community is still an enigma to him. A lot of what's accepted on the island, such as being gender non-conforming and poly, still sort of flies right over his head. The whole reason he went to a god for shape-shifting powers was mostly so he could transition. Could be a good option if you want someone someone to be a mentor and grow alongside her.

Oooh, I think both DeShawn and Kon would be great for her to meet on her journey!!

Maybe DeShawn could be one of her art idols that she eventually meets? That could be really touching as far as moments going, seeing that being trans is normal/okay and look, one of her heroes is GNC and he does great work and lives a happy life here. That could be one of the things that helps give her the nerves to socially transition on the island instead of living in the closet as she has been.

And since Kon is part of TWIS, perhaps he could help her take those first steps of getting settled on the island and showing her that you can get one of the sex change/transition bracelets when she does come out to him? And since both have a habit of constantly seeking out & trying new things perhaps part of their friendship is in trying new stuff together and suggesting hobbies to each based on what each likes to do?

Both of those sound great! I haven't gotten to use DeShawn in a thread yet since he's my newest character, so it'd be nice to finally give him a test run and figure out his personality. He already considers himself a "mentor" in the online community, in the sense that he's not afraid to answer questions, share parts about his life (excluding the supernatural stuff in the Narrow Reality), and show resources he supports.

I can offer Storm as a teacher they may see as a mentor! She's a butch lesbian werewolf with a good amount of life experience and is always willing to lend an ear.

Adelyn, Dezzie and/or Jessica may be good options for friendships, I think!

Dezzie has just started feeling attraction toward women.

Jessica is a very extroverted California beach girl lesbian who cares a lot about LGBTQ+ matters.

And Adelyn kinda just gets along with everyone lol. She's also bi/demisexual and it took her a while to figure it out. Storm is her ~~mom~~ guardian too, so if she becomes familiar with Storm, she'll be familiar with Adelyn too.

To add to what Kath said, Kon is also close friends with Jessica, so that would be an easy start to your character getting a friend group.

Ahh!! I'm so hype to see how you've designed your werewolves because I was wanting to do the ears & tail thing as well but wasn't sure how everyone did their lycanthropes. So maybe she could be a werewolf.

alsO I all of your lovely girls. ~~I feel like my girl would crush really hard on Jessica~~ (@Keen if that pings?) I would love for Jessica & Kon to form the basis of her friend group! Especially since they're both pretty involved in the island community, least from quick skim of their bios. And they seem like a lot of fun and a good influence on someone in need of a support group.

And I think Storm would be great for the mentor/teacher role. c: I could see her being the kind of character mine would go to for support or if she's scared & needs help in something.
