"Ah, I see. I have also never had sex." She said simply, nodding. She took Bel's admission in stride, she had no reason to think of it as embarrassing or unusual. After all, she thought being a virgin was normal.

She did, however, notice the change, looking slightly confused at Bel's uncomfortable reaction.

"Oh, is this perhaps a sensitive subject?" She frowned a little at herself. "My apologies, I thought if you talked about this with Agnes often then it would be ok..."

"Yes, no -yes, it is sometimes a sensitive topic, but, no, it's fine, you're fine. It's okay and normal to be a virgin," Bel admitted a little too quickly, "I - I just feel odd about it sometimes." she confessed as she glanced at Euphemia sheepishly.

"Agnes is the one who'll talk about sex, I - I just, well, sort of listen, ask the odd question," here she paused, feeling silly now for being flustered.

"It's stupid really, but I feel a bit inferior for being a virgin," she finally told her with a tiny sigh. "My goddess, who I am, is a goddess of love and fertility, and how am I supposed to bestow the grace of either if I, myself, have never experienced romantic love, sex ?..." she admitted, now reaching the core of why it bothered her so much. It wasn't about being shy about sex, it was more about just not having had sex before.

Euphemia's confused expression remained, even after Bel had explained her reasoning. It seemed like such an odd thing to be worried about. Though as she listened to her go on, she started to wrap her head around it.

"So...if I understand correctly," She eventually said. "You feel that, in order to perform your duty, you require experience in areas of love and sex?"

Euphemia knew even less about love then she did about sex. The church would always speak of love, love for God, love for each other, but love was not something she was taught she deserved. Nor was it something she was capable of giving.

She had that one time, but that was different, those feelings were fake, not hers.

"While I admit these are things I understand very little, I do know the importance of having adequate knowledge of one's purpose. However, I believe there is no need for you to worry. If there is no urgent need, one should not be expected to take their role before they are ready. I am sure you will have the time you need to learn."

She of course, had no idea of the nuances of what Bel was expected to do, but for her it seemed simple, and she stated it like it was.

"Of course, if there is any way I could assist you in this, I would be more then willing to offer what I can."

If anyone else had said that, it might have sounded like an innuendo. Euphemia however seemed to completely miss the implication.

"Yes, that's basically it, I guess," Bel admitted somewhat amazed at how easily Euphemia had put into words her fears and frustrations.

"I feel inadequate, or a fraud, in a way," she admitted with a sigh, leaning back comfortably in her armchair. "Like I should know these things, but I don't."

"And, how can I give others advice, bestow blessings of love, when I have no idea what sexual and romantic love are like? I know there's a difference, but I have not experienced them, so when somebody comes to me, how do I really know what is needed or wanted?" Bel explained to Euphemia, feeling better and more confident about things now that the initial embarrassment was out of the way.

"Thank you, but I am afraid you can't really help me with that, not really," Bel said, trying to keep a straight face. She knew Euphemia didn't mean it that way, but it was sort of funny just the same.

"I was afraid as much." She frowned, before nodding. "If I happen upon something that may assist you, however, I will be sure to let you know."

Euphemia felt stumped herself. Issues like these, feeling like a fraud, these were things she had never experienced before. All she could tell is that it bothered Bel greatly, that it was important to her. She felt obligated to help her but had no idea how.

She tilted her head to the side. "Bel, do people often come to you for advice?" She asked.

"Thank you, Euphemia, I would be interested in whatever you might have in mind," Bel said, very grateful that she wanted to help, though Bel surmised that the only real way she could do that was if Euphemia happened to find Bel somebody she liked, was attracted to and wanted to sleep with.

All of which weren't an easy find, so far Bel had only met one person, who maybe fit the bill, but she wasn't sure she wanted to go and "solve" her problem with somebody she had just met just because she was feeling impatient. Especially if that somebody was, as she suspected, a party boy, troublemaker and, possibly, a heartbreaker.

"I guess, I mean, I believe I do..." Bel said with some hesitation, she had never considered the question before. She had just accepted the fact people often approached her to ask her things, or for blessings, or advice on whether to use a blessing, or even about the blessing other gods had. "I never really thought about it before, but yes, quite often people will stop me to ask for advice or just to talk whatever," she admitted.

"Why? Did you want to ask me something?" Bel asked Euphemia with a look that was both curious and concerned.

"No." Euphemia shook her head. "Nothing I would wish to trouble you with currently. I was just considering your duties as..."

She still hesitated to actually call her a goddess, her own religious beliefs only allowed for one, and to acknowledge a deity that was not Him still felt wrong, sinful. She tried to rationalise it, thinking of it as a simply a phrase rather than something that was literal. That should be ok, shouldn't it?

"As a goddess, as one who others would look to for guidance." She continued, "I am sure you must advise others on more matters than just romance. Such responsibility must require you to be knowledgeable on many things."

She wondered if Bel could help her, if she could identify what it was Euphemia needed to find. But as she said, something like that was not something she wanted to trouble her with, it felt like a lot to ask.

"It must be quite a burden, especially as it bothers you so." She concluded. "I was simply curious if that was the case..."

"But of course, " Bel replied rather sheepishly, "I have given advice on all sorts of things. I am sorry if it seemed that I just do love and relationships." she said to Euphemia, embarrassed that she had been so focused on sex, and having it, that she had forgotten the other important things in life.

"My main abilities are based on life itself, path, protection, goals. If there is anything I can help you with, or you think I might be able to help you with, please ask," Bel told her earnestly as she adjusted her weight in the armchair."

She frowned to herself, an uncertain, almost uncomfortable expression painting her face.

"Very well. As you are aware, I am...very uncertain of where my time here shall lead." She explained. "For all my life, my path had been predetermined, I was well aware of what I was to do, what purpose I was to serve. Now, I have none of that. I have no idea where my life should take me."

She sits up straight, hands folded on her lap, meeting her eyes.

"Would you be...okay with me coming to you for advice? In the future?" She asked, slowly. "I am unsure of what I will do for now, but I may have questions eventually, and you appear to be knowledgeable, capable. I would be very grateful if you did me this favour."

She punctuated her request with a bow of her head, still showing deference even to someone who should be a peer.

Bel let Euphemia explain and as she did, she realised that she understood her in a way. She, herself. had spent ten years now training to be who she was. Told she had a purpose and what that purpose was, and she could understand how Euphemia felt, because every October, leading up to Samhain her own powers diminished leaving her feeling unfocused, easily irritated, and somewhat afraid that she'd be left without them and without a purpose in life.

"I understand your fears," she told her very truthfully, "And I will help you as much as I can and whenever you need it. I may not be able to find your purpose in life, but I can certainly help you discover it," she told her.

"Right now, my abilities are low, almost gone until Samhain is over, but normally I am able to see life paths and guide people, although I rarely do this because if I mislead you, your burden becomes mine to carry..." Bel told her gently, "However, that said, I will try to help, and provide advice to you as much I can and whenever you need me to, without entering too much in the profetised." she told her dorm mate.
