Yikmo was bouncing around in his chair! His dad told him his papa was going to come today! Dad had told him all sorts of stories, and showed him pictures. The little boy was really excited! His papa had white hair, just like him!

Dad said something about going to get groceries, and Yikmo was okay with that. Groceries meant food right? That sounded fun! He was really excited, he'd never been to a grocery store before!

The door creaked open, and Yikmo bounced excitedly over, hugging the legs of the person who walked in.

A new kid.

He supposed it was to be expected. Amphy always had a soft spot for injured, weak or abandoned things like Ardos. That was fine with him. He liked it, in fact. Ardos was a pretty nurturing sort of guy, and he decided to take on the mantle of second parent to Amphy's kids because... Well, truth be told, it made him feel all nice and fluttery inside.

He was weak. He knew it.

He placed a hand on his head, gently. A small smile. "I'm Ardos. It's nice to meet you." He offered his hand for Yikmo to take. "Let's get groceries. Do you have a list?"

Yikmo backed away after his quick hug, looking up at his papa with awe in his eyes. The Young boys green eyes sparkled with wonder, a grin spreading across his face as he got excited. His papa was so cool!

Instead of shaking Adros' hand, Yikmo jumped up to give Ardos another hug, clearly very excited. Then the little boy pointed to the name on his jacket, the big block letters. He nodded at his papa's next question, holding up a shopping list Amphy had written, his sleeve falling past his hand as he held it up.

Yikmo was pumped. He hadn't gotten to go grocery shopping before, but his dad said it was fun! There was food, and free samples, and so much cool stuff!

It seemed like the child couldn't talk. That was going to be a bit of a problem considering Ardos didn't know any sign language, but that was fine. He could work around this, because he cared enough to. Ardos nodded at the name on the jacket.

"Yikmo. All right, Yikmo." He couldn't help but chuckle when he was hugged again. He thought it was nice that such a small child could be so affectionate with him. Usually, he scared them off with his appearance. Since it didn't seem like they would be walking around holding hands, Ardos picked up Yikmo and took the list in his hands. Ah, of course, the usual vegetables and organic stuff. Fish. With that, he left the house and locked the door, and started walking out of the Underground. "Have you ever been to the city before? The groceries? They have all kinds of food — oh, right, here."

He pulled a Hershey's Kisses from his pocket and offered it to Yikmo. "It's chocolate."

Yikmo smiled brightly, nodding as Ardos said his name. His papa was so cool! He had super cool hair, and he was so strong!

The plant boy shook his head. He'd seen the city, but he'd never gone there before! Yet, at least. His dad said something about a 'hospital' but Yik wasn't really sure what that was.The grocery store sounded so cool! His dad made a bunch of cool dishes with food from the white box, so Yik was excit-

Yikmo's eyes lit up when Ardos handed him the Hershey's Kiss. It was so shiny! He looked up at his papa, super excited about this. He put it in his pocket, and gave Ardos a hug in thanks, before kissing his papa's forehead. Or trying to at least.

Amphy had done the same to Yik when the small boy gave him some flowers the other day, so he assumed it was what you did!

Ardos smiled, rubbing his now wet nose. "Well, thank you. I feel very loved."

Once they reached the grocery store, he put Yikmo down and opted to hold his hand. Man, he hated fluorescent lights, but what can you do? He pulled out a shopping cart and looked over the list.

"Can you read? Do you know what 'bread' is?" Ardos asked as they stopped in front of the grocery's pastry section.

Yikmo's sleeve slid down his arm as his papa held his hand, the young boy looking amazedly around the store. It was so big! And bright! Look at all the colors! Oh man, this was cool.

Yikmo nodded at his papa's question. He could read, sorta. He still had trouble with a bunch of words, but he could read! And he certainly knew what Bread was, it was that softy whitey thing his dad made food with.

Yikmo pointed at a loaf of french bread, almost as long as he was. That was bread, right?
