Leucos shook her hand, taking care not to tighten his grip too much. "I..I guess you could say I'm having trouble with my power.." He said as he shuffled his feet. "Stop fidgeting..she seems nice. No need to act so shy.." Leucos thought. For once, he took his own advice and managed to force his amber gaze someplace other than the floor.

"It..Well..I can't shut them out..emotions..I can hear them.." He said, and blushed as he realized how crazy that sounded. "Great, now she probably thinks you're insane." Leucos was sure his face was a wonderful shade of scarlet at this point.

However, his mind tuned into something else nearby. Sadness. However the cause of the emotion was quickly apparent as the person the emotion was coming from appeared to be reading one of the many sad romance novels in the library. Pushing the emotion to the back of his mind, he turned his head to look at Chloe. "I..I'm sorry for zoning out there." He whispered, as he once again stared at the floor.

"It's okay."

His face turned red. Chloe smiled reflexively. She used to love making people this flustered - but it was different when the real reason for his discomfort was a problem with his powers. The half demon thought about Leucos's problem for a moment, and it didn't take her long to think of a solution.

"If reading people's emotions is the problem, that should be an easy fix. The school has bracelets you can ask for which nullify your powers when you wear them. If they're making you feel like you need to hide in the library, that's unacceptable. I mean you shouldn't have to put up with that."

Leucos grinned slightly at the thought of finally being out from under the thumb of his powers. "Maybe now I can start putting my life back together.." The thought alone was enough to make him almost jump for joy. Although he managed to restrain that impulse, however the small grin was something he couldn't repress. Finally after all the blackouts, headaches, and noise, he'd be able to find peace.

"Um..Do you know where..I could get one of those bracelets.." He asked, although he hesitated slightly. Here he was asking for things after he just met someone. Leucos barely managed to force another wave of embarrassment down before he shuffled his feet awkwardly. "I..I'm sorry for being so...what's the word..." He struggled for a moment as he tried to recall the word in English, his feet stilled as he concentrated. "Weird..yeah..that's the word.."

Chloe laughed a little bit even though she was trying not to. "You're not too weird," she said. "It's no problem."

She used her tail to push herself up from her sitting position, then she offered a hand to help him stand. "There's probably some more of those bracelets in the infirmary. I can walk you there if you want." She was relieved that helping him could be so easy.

Leucos allowed himself to be helped up and nodded rapidly. "I'm..still new here so I don't exactly know the way.." He said. "I'm..not even sure how I found this place." Leucos said sheepishly as he tried to find somewhere else to look.

"I don't even remember where the entrance is.." He said quietly while looking around the corner that he had 'Appropriated' for the duration of his time in the library. As he tapped his leg thoughtfully, another thought crossed his mind. "Will..will we need to cross back through the courtyard to get there.." He asked, although the fear that he had tried to suppress managed to come forward before he made the conscious effort to keep his facial expressions neutral.

Right. Hearing people's emotions was overwhelming for him, so he didn't want to be near a bunch of other people. That's why he was hiding in the library.

She brought him to his feet effortlessly. "We don't have to go through the courtyard," Chloe reassured him. "We have a pretty clean shot at the Infirmary from here, actually. That way's mostly empty."

She couldn't help thinking that giving this kid a hand would make her and her club look better. It seemed like a sort of cold way to approach this situation, now that she thought of it - but the thought always crossed her mind. Maybe her father had already ruined her. He had, accidentally, trained her to come up with an excuse for every good deed she performed.

"So, uh, aside from all this. How have you been adjusting to the island?"

Upon hearing that going through the courtyard wasn't required, Leucos relaxed slightly. As for getting adjusted he'd had his fair share of issues. "Adjusting is..taking some time..I was supposed to find my dorm room..but I got lost and then..well. Here I am." He said, while he wasn't exactly comfortable with Chloe, he believed she wasn't out to get him, and had begun to regain some confidence in his speech.

"It's odd..meeting people who understand. Or don't look at me like I'm a demon for knowing what their feeling deep inside..N-no offense if you are a demon." He said, as he finally noticed the Chloe's tail and horns. "Well..I'm not saying you are one if you're not..but..In case you are..I don't want to be offensive..Uh..Som ikke kommer ut til høyre..." Leucos said as he scratched the back of his head. He had already begun blushing once again, "I hope I didn't offend her..God why am I so weird.." He thought to himself, wanting to disappear before he said anything else that could be taken as offensive.

Som ikke kommer ut til høyre = That didn't come out right

As Leucos spoke, Chloe led him out of the library. She smiled to herself a little bit as he backpedaled. He realized that he'd said something bad, and he was mortified.

"I think you're doing pretty well," Chloe said. "I mean, you're already worried about whether that was an insensitive thing to say, and you already seem to realize demons like me aren't, like, embodiments of evil." She chuckled. "I think you're doing a lot better than some of the other new kids I've met. And you're solving this thing."

She was still holding his hand, which was probably weird. Like he was a child. She considered draining a little bit of strength from him - without access to her father's night club, she would need to find her fix without it somehow.

"You know," she added as they stepped outside. "I actually have... kind of a girlfriend, with powers like yours. She tastes emotions instead of hearing them. Empaths aren't totally unheard of."

Leucos relaxed as he realized she hand't taken any offense to his horrible attempt at social interaction. He then blushed again as Chloe complemented the fact that he had managed to cope with everything relatively well so far.

He took a moment to notice the surrounding area as they exited the library. Definitely less people nearby than in the courtyard. "One plus side to being able to sense emotions is as long as they're strong enough, I can tell if anyone's nearby." He thought to himself as he picked up varying signals from different rooms. Mainly impatience and boredom, although contentedness was there as well.

Leucos pulled himself away from the emotional background noise just as Chloe told him that she knew someone who fed off emotion. He blinked several times trying to decipher the information. "Y-you mean I'm not the only one like this?" He asked with a tone of awe in his voice. Leucos didn't even try to conceal his expression as his eyes widened with full blown wonder. If Chloe hadn't been holding his hand, he would have most likely stopped and cried from relief.

"All this time..I thought I was alone.." He said, his voice cracked slightly before he managed to control his emotions and avoid crying in front of someone he just met.

Wow. Leucos seemed shocked that he wasn't alone. She slowly realized that she was present for the major emotional breakthrough of a stranger, and it made her slightly uncomfortable.

"We actually have a word for people like you. Empaths." She kept talking, hoping it would smooth them out. "I vaguely remember hearing about a group for people with empathic powers, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that right? It's something you can look into. And we have a couple empaths in the DSU. Which is, ah, the Demonic Student Union. I'm actually in charge of that one. It's a club for demons, but people who aren't demons will also come, especially if they have friends or family who are."

Of course she managed to make this about the DSU again. She was almost embarassed at herself.
