He has a gold armband wrought in the shape of a celtic knot that is almost always coiled about his left upper arm.
Personality Description: Ruari is first and foremost, a troublemaker. His endless need for adventure is never sated, which can get him into a myriad of iffy situations. Of course, he’s very capable of getting himself out of these things, although the amount of collateral damage is usually very high. His fun loving and outgoing attitude make it easy for him to get along with others and other to get along with him. He takes great pride in his clan, family, and his task as guardian of the Gae Bolg. Insulting any of these things, or insulting him directly is not encouraged.
However, on the flip side, he’s not very good at reading people. As such, he’ll sometimes miss certain social cues, remaining blissfully ignorant if he accidentally steps on any toes. While Ruari means well in most of his interactions with others, he’s not the most socially graceful of people. If he has something to say, or you ask for his opinion, it’ll be blunt and honest. The truth does indeed hurt. He’s not exactly quick to anger, however should one sufficiently annoy him, chances are, they’ll find themself thrown through walls.
Species Abilities: N/A
Powers: Hound of Chulainn: Ruari as a descendant of Sétanta, or Cú, has a near inhuman amount of strength. He can pick up and throw most heavy objects, no more than one ton. With ease, and has a near inhuman amount of stamina that lasts for about two days. However, he does have a limit. After two days of intense physical activity and no food, he will collapse. And should he have no way of replacing the energy he has lost, he will die.
Gae Bolg/Spear of Mortal Death: A magical spear that is said to never miss the heart of its target. Upon impact, the spearhead releases thin, vein-like vines that are covered in thorns. These thorns then cause massive amounts of internal damage as they spread throughout the body. However in fact, this spear has several major downfalls. This ability only presents itself when the spear is thrown, the spear itself alters fate as to not miss. However it can still be tricked by illusions, or the fate altering abilities of another.
Subsequently, the spear will not hit its target if they are behind a wall or other defensive barrier. It must obey the normal physics of the world and dimension it is in. Aside from this, if an immortal, someone without a heart, or other similar being is struck by the thrown spear, the ability will not work as the spear has no true way to kill said person.
The spear's thorns by proxy do not work against those who are already dead, or do not have a corporeal form. If the spear is not thrown or if its abilities do not activate, it is simply used as a more durable magical spear. As the spear was created from the bone of a fallen sea monster. It is incredibly hard to destroy. However the spear is not bound to Ruari, and can be stolen. However, they will never be able to use the secret ability of the spear unless properly taught.
Biography: Ruari was born in Northern Ireland and into the Nialláin clan. As such, they are the descendants of the Hound of Culain and protectors of his legacy. One such legacy is his spear, the Gae Bolg. His childhood was fairly normal for the most part. Loving parents, grandparents that spoiled him as a child, and a father that gave him martial training. He was taught to use a sword by the age of ten. He spent the rest of his time being taught the use of the spear, and bow. By the time he was fifteen, he was proficient in the use of all three categories of weapon. However, all was not as it seemed, as a criminal element had tracked down the location of the Gae Bolg and intended to steal it for their own use.
They nearly succeeded late one night, had they not woken Ruari with their break in. What happened next was to be expected of marching unaware into the house of the descendants of Culain. Ruari was woken by his father and told to go to the room in which the spear was kept while he checked the house. The thieves snuck past his father and entered the sanctuary.
Ruari, unarmed and at a three against one disadvantage did the logical thing. He used the spear. Three dead thieves later, Ruari’s clan began the source of much debate due to the inhumane way in which the thieves were dispatched.
As the clan had no way of actually disclosing what had happened, things looked dire, until a letter arrived in the mail. Ruari was asked to attend Starlight academy while his clan thought up a decent cover up. While his parents were wary of first, their backs were against the wall and they had no other choice. They sent Ruari to Manta Carlos during the summer along with the Gae Bolg, in the hopes that he would be able to adapt to the new place before the year began, along with taking the spear into hiding with him.
