Wednesday strolled up to Monday’s front door, schoolbag slung over her shoulder, Frodo peeking out over her shoulder from inside. She carried a few of her old magic tomes, a small pouch of spell reagents, and some dye as well.

Wednesday didn’t expect to be sharing her magic around for a long time, even with other members of her coven. Her family like to keep their secrets, a trait that Wednesday would have picked up whether they drilled it into her or not. She could practically hear her mothers disapproving tone in the back of her mind because of what she was planning to do today.

But the situation with Ganymede was something she felt needed an exception. The young boy had been invited into Monday’s home without really knowing all the baggage that came with it. Even if the curse never spread to him, the fact remained that the coven’s curses could potentially put him in danger. As a member of the coven, she felt it important that she help to make sure that didn’t happen in some way, and hopefully sharing her knowledge with Ganymede could help.

So here she was, outside of Monday’s home, hoping to teach him how to apply some of her family’s magic to help him protect himself. Wednesday knocked on the door and waited, free hand scratching underneath Frodo’s chin as she did.

Ganymede was excited to see Wednesday. He liked learning magic; he was good at that. It made him feel special. On top of that, Wednesday was probably his favorite out of Monday's covenmates.

Monday and Candle were busy with the store. So when Wednesday went around to the back and knocked, Ganymede was the one who answered. He was wearing a little dress. It would be the first time Wednesday had seen him wearing a dress.

"Hi Wednesday!" he said with a big smile. Then he'd turn to her cat: "Hi Frodo."

He held the door open for the two, inviting them in.

Wednesday blinked. She certainly wasn’t expecting to see Ganymede in that dress, almost every time she’d seen him before had been in his usual suit and tie look. It ended up throwing her off for a brief moment.

“Good afternoon Ganymede. That dress certainly looks nice on you.” She smiled, the compliment genuine, even if a small amount of confusion was visible on her face.

She stepped through the door, Frodo hopping out of her bag as she passed, padding up next to Gany and brushing up against his legs, purring softly.

“How have you been lately?” She asked, heading inside and placing her backpack down against a wall, fishing around for one of the books she brought.

"Thanks!" Closing the door behind Wednesday, he would curtsy at her, then drop all the formality to start petting Frodo and showing him some love. "It's one of the things they let me keep from my first home." Ganymede had complicated feelings about it, but wearing it felt nice sometimes.

"I've been well! I'm getting high marks, and I've made a couple of friends at school. Care for a drink? I can make it any flavor you want." Gany didn't mind playing host for Wednesday, since he liked her so well and she was in Monday's coven. But mostly the first thing, he realized. No way would he be giving Tuesday this treatment. Maybe not even Saturday. Ganymede was doing this on his own terms, and that made him feel much better about it.

Besides, he liked showing off his flavoring spells.

Frodo, being the little attention hog that he is, purred and brush his head up against Gany's hand, clearly enjoying the affection. The familiar found the Nek0 comfortable, likely due to their shared feline heritage. Wednesday put her things down and watched them as Gany talked, smiling.

"I'm glad to hear it's going well for you." She said. "School is still taking a bit of getting used to for me, honestly, but I'm not too surprised you're fitting in fast."

Ganymede was definitely a lot more outgoing than she was, so it was easy to imagine he'd make friends quickly.

"Um, if you don't mind making some, I wouldn't mind some coffee."

Wednesday didn't specify a flavor, so that meant Ganymede was going to choose a flavor. Because, damn it, he was going to show off his flavoring spells. "Okay!"

Ganymede took a second to play with Frodo just a little bit more, then he stood up and disappeared. Just around the corner, Wednesday would already hear Ganymede at work getting the coffee brewed. He had it done in record time.

Once it was done, he brought the cup to her on a plate, and he made sure she saw him cast two quick spells on it before handing it over. It was perfect drinking temperature, no blowing required despite how much it had been steaming moments before. And on top of the usual coffee flavor, each sip tasted like a bite of chocolate cake, complete with frosting.

"What did you want to teach me?" Gany made no effort to hide his excitement, bouncing on his heels, full of energy.

Wednesday accepted the drink with a smile and a quick thanks, bringing the cup to her lips and taking a sip. Her eyes seemed to light up almost right away.

"Wow, this is good." She said, encouraging smile sent his way since he seemed so eager to show it off. "I should visit you guys for coffee more often.

She set the plate down after he asked his question, before pulling off her school jumper, leaving her arms bare for him to see the swirling, arcane tattoos that cover them.

"Well, since you've been interested in learning magic, I thought I'd show you how to make some of these," She explained. "These tattoos need a lot of preparation, but they can be designed to give all sorts of benefits. I'm still um, learning how to make them, but I thought I could show you a few basic designs."

She rubbed her arm, smile looking just a bit more strained before she continued.

"I know we kind of um...blindsided you with our conditions, so I figured showing you some things that might help keep you save could make up for that."

It's obvious just from her tone she still feels a little guilty for how Gany was introduced to the covens curses.

Ganymede just kept smiling at her. He didn't mind the danger they were putting him in by being around him. He was used to arcane dangers lurking around every corner. He didn't know anything different. But he was touched by how Wednesday wanted to spend time with him, and teach him how to keep himself safe.

"Does this mean I get to have cool tattoos like yours?"

He recognized that Wednesday felt guilty about the coven being close to him and putting him at risk. That just made Gany worry that Monday and the coven would give him back. He was making her feel bad, and now he was feeling pressure to fix that, so they wouldn't give him back.

At that, Wednesday managed a more natural smile, and a small giggle.

"Well, I suppose that'll depend on how fast you learn." She said, grabbing her books and laying them down on the nearest table. Frodo, seeming to detect the catboys worry, started to brush up against him again. Wednesday, not being quite as good as reading people, didn’t seem to notice. Gany seemed eager to start, and that was good enough to put her own worries aside for the moment.

She opened the book to its first page. The page was covered with symbols similar to those on Wednesday’s arm, with several notes handwritten in german next to them. Many of the notes were clearly done in different handwriting, many members of her family had contributed to them.

“I’ve told you before the basics of how my spells work,” She began. “It’s like a math equation, you put different variables together to get a specific output. So, before anything else, we need to decide what we want to do, then what spell components we need to get there.”

She looked back to him, comfortably in her element explaining her magic.

“Wanna get started?”

Ganymede loved Frodo. And unlike most humanoids, Ganymede knew what it was like to have cat ears. He knew how he liked his to be touched, and he applied that to Frodo. It calmed him down for a second, just reaching down and playing with Frodo's ears. He could see why his master had liked doing that so much.

This didn't stop Gany from paying attention to what Wednesday was saying. He watched and listened carefully, ears swiveled towards Wednesday to catch every word. When asked if he wanted to get started, he gave an enthusiastic "I'd love to~!"

It may have been too enthusiastic. He sincerely was excited to be doing this, but he was playing it up. He really was grateful, but he was trying very hard to get that across.

"What kinds of things can they protect somebody from?"
