As Zoraida cast the spell to freeze the ground, Ain noticed immediately as he still had his Mystic Investigation active that it was a wide range spell that targeted the ground and leaped into the air while still avoiding the spells, and in what appeared to be a flash freeze everyone in front of them had there feet frozen to the ground, and the lizard man who was on the ground at the time was actually frozen in place unable to move.

Ain seeing a moment to strike, landed and dashed over to the many cloaked figures and swiftly began hitting them with the limbs of his bow, knocking the cellphones from them and knocking them out. The speed of this action, combined with the fact they couldn't move made it easy, to hit them where it hurt. It was actually good timing, if Zoraida had not cast that spell in time, he knew he would not have been able to dodge the spells of the additional spellcasters in the small space of an alleyway and it might have been game over for him.

Swiftly he put his long bow on his back once more so it wouldn't get in the way.

There was a small reprieve in the battle so he ran back to Zoraida, but slipped on the ice on the way back and fell on his ass in front of her. Ouch, he was really starting to hurt, but he simply popped back to his feet and pretended that he didn't fall at all. Maybe she didn't notice, a lot of things were happening after all.

His violet eyes moved to the tired Zoraida with concern, all it took was a spell like that to weaken her to the point of exhaustion it seemed. More people would be there shortly, they needed to move and the only place to go was the doorway that was blown open.

Another thunder crackled again, a flash of light filling the sky...

For the moment they needed to regroup, so he did something that he thought was necessary, he pulled his arms under Zoraida's legs and back, and lifted her up into a princess carry. He felt a bit awkward about it but they needed to go, and without a single confirmation he he ran into the once black dragon marked doorway.

Inside the place was four unconscious men and one unconscious woman, but that was just at the entrance, next to them was a table that had been flipped and cards scattered every which way. It was quite clear that they were playing cards until the explosion, and they never got to finish the game. He then looked over to the side wall and noticed several boxes lined up in rows, the boxes were all labelled Woodland Imports with invoices attached that have not been signed or received.

On the other side of the room was a door leading to a hallway that led somewhere, it was likely where that one man ran off to when he was spooked, but right now it was quiet. He closed the door and locked it.

He then put Zoraida down, and kept a more firm watch on the alleyway while remaining as hidden as possible...

Trying not to give into any sort of exhaustion, Zora focused her attention on everything around her. Her spell had worked to some degree, it had frozen temporarily those who were hurling magic at thrm. Seeing the man come out from around the corner, Zora was going to yell at him to be careful, the ice was slippery. But before she could say anything, she saw him slip backwards onto his butt. Grimacing at this, she just pretended not to notice.

When he finally made it back to where she was standing, Zora looked at him tired like, and did not even protest when he suddenly scooped her up in his arms and hurried her to safety. She just automatically held onto him tightly as he moved toward the building, trusting him to take her somewhere safer. Once inside, he placed her gently back down on her feet. There Zora glanced around the darkly lit room, she noticed the playing cards strewn everywhere, the overturned tables, chairs and finally the boxes... they were from Woodland Imports. And they all had unsigned invoices on them.

What, in god's name, was happening here? she wondered feeling something between shock, dismay and realization that her company was involved somehow in trying to almost kill them; and at this, she became increasingly more and angrier - to the point that she just didn't even think twice about what she was doing and started off down the hallway. "I'm going to check out the building." she said to the young man her voice now holding a hint of deadly calmness mixed with a hint of anger.

"My company is involved in this - somehow." she explained coolly, "And I need to find out who's behind all this," she said gesturing to the room, not tired any more, her exhaustion had been replaced by adrenaline and quiet and growing fury.

And if her brother was involved in this, in smuggling her company goods, running illegal gambling houses, and trying to kill her, she would kick his bloody ass. She had done it in the past and would do it again if she had too. "Tomas... you better not be involved in his," she murmured heatedly under her breath as she moved purposefully down the hall, glancing back to see whether the young man was coming or not.

For whatever reason it looked like whatever people were previously coming to the alleyway had stopped, and they either were looking for them elsewhere or had no idea they had gone in the base instead of leaving; either way they were left to their own devices for now.

Ain listened to what Zoraida was saying and really had no idea what was going on, everything just seemed like a mess, was she really willing to go further in and was this about her company. This was a bit much for him to understand, in fact, he just wasn't following the events as well as he should have being an Inquisitor in the past. As he ran to catch up he noted a name she said, Tomas, he didn't know who that was but she seemed troubled.

Was this girl really going to be alright?

As they walked down the hallway, it was noted by Ain that the architecture was not that of an old warhouse, but had been rebuilt at least with to resemble a stone complex, even the ground was now stone brick, and the only light was magically lit torch sconces. These people had put some extra effort to make this place seem more dank and dark, if that is what they liked, it didn't matter to him.

Just then voices could be heard echoing down the halls, it appeared to be a conversation in progress, a feminine voice could be heard, "--the door was a considerable expense for us, The Black Wings, linking it to the magic tool application was also much more difficult than simply overlaying runic magic over it." as that finished another male could be heard. "THAT is not what is important, Daph, who gave you permission to target Tomas's sister. I made it quite clear that we were going to keep a distance from those people." the feminine voice continued. "I'm sorry Basil, I really didn't think they would notice if we stole some of their shipments. In fact, it had been a few days, we were really careful. We even used magic to make the shipping docks forget they received it, it was a perfect job." the man's voice immediately answered back, "Clearly something went wrong, Zoraida is here--"

Just then another crackle of thunder could be heard from outside, and it started raining hard. The heavy rain pouring down on the building, and for some reason even beyond the hallway...

With that both Ain and Zoraida reached a big double door, this door was the same in design as the one outside with a runic lock on the side next to it. Ain wondered if she intended to blow this door open too, and glanced at her curiously.

As they moved further down the long darkly lit hall, Zoraida could hear snippets of a conversation echoing through the walls around her. Slowing her pace, she stopped finally and placed her finger to her lips in a "shhh.." as she looked at Ain in a meaningful way.

Listening to the conversation, it became clear that they knew Tomas, and he was probably somewhat involved, but also the phone, the one she had slipped in her skirt pocket had something to do with it. Taking it out, she turned it over in her hands, turned on the screen again and saw the same screen as before - it required a passcode. Feeling somewhat frustrated, she turned it off again and pocketed it, deciding to keep the phone, maybe give it to the police later - or perhaps something else, she didn't know.

Feeling somewhat calmer now, she looked around her, glancing up when she heard the thunder... It was raining, that meant humidity, water in the air around them. Wondering if it was enough, she glanced down at her hands, so far, her magic had been okay, stronger than what she'd normally like, only slightly uncontrollable though.

Looking at the door, she sighed, she wasn't sure she wanted to go in there, but what else could they do? Glancing around her, she noticed everything was magically lit the place had been built to avoid detection using the warehouse as a cover.

This was not good, they needed to get out of here somehow. She didn't think she was strong enough to take anyone on, and if she did and killed someone? Then she'd be in trouble... Decisions. Glancing around her again, she noticed the air was now heavy with moisture, and this gave her an idea.

Taking Ain's hand, she moved down the hall, "Just follow me and don't let go of my hand, okay." she told him, "You probably won't be able to see anything, but I can," she said in a soft voice. Her magic did not affect her like everyone around her.

Then, she placed a hand directly before her and the water in the air around them turned to a very thick fog that would envelop those in the building for a few minutes, enough for them to leave the building, hopefully unnoticed.

"Let's go..." she said now in a normal voice, tugging his hand gently, the fog was thick enough to even muffle a whisper, She then lead the strange man carefully back out from where they came, back out the door, the encompassing fog still surrounding them as she kept up the magic just long enough for them to make it somewhere they might safely escape from.

Ain was a bit shook when Zoraida took his hand, his face under his helmet was beet red from embarrassment in the fact that he was holding a girls hand. He had never actually done something like that before, but he complied and tighten his grip on Zoraida's hand as he followed closely behind her. The misty fog made him unable to see anything, which was strange for him and made him worried.

He held his breath when he heard a group of men pass by them in the hall and they didn't seem to notice them. The voices from behind them could be heard as they left, "Open up the door, we need to report that we can't find them." another more youthful voice chimed in. "I can't find my magic tool, uh, where did I leave it?" the other voice responded sharply. "You idiot, those things are a expensive trade secret, Basil is going to kill you. Literally." the youthful voice could be heard softly sobbing as Zoraida and Ain left the hall and could see the alleyway ahead of them.

It was raining down hard ourside, a few people were crowded around the exit of the alleyway treating the people that were frozen and knocked out from just a bit earlier. They didn't seem to notice Ain and Zoraida due to the magic fog that was created around them, but were they just going to walk past them?

Still holding onto Zoraida's hand, he trusted her to figure it out, as he did he raised an eyebrow at the thought. Why was he trusting her again, it didn't matter, he just did.

The magic Zora had used would quickly start dissipating as the rain fell on them, so she hurried up her pace somewhat to lead Ain to some abandoned warehouses nearby that hopefully would be a good place to go from. With some luck, they could probably get back to town from there or she could call the police or something, she had not thought that part through all she knew is that they desperately needed to get as far away as possible from what was happening.

And as they moved to safety, the logical businesswoman slowly starting to take over again as she thought about how closely she had been to causing serious problems - or getting herself - as well as the young man with her in trouble. She could cause massive problems for her company if she were caught here today she realised.

Once out of sight, Zora let go of Ain's hand. "Sorry, about that. I think we might be safe or somewhat safer now," she said as she glanced uneasily around them still hearing sounds and voices nearby, but thankfully, they seemed to be moving away.

They had luckily slinked away using the fog magic, he was sure they would have been caught but he soon learned how useful the girl Zoraida was. He actually knew of a person that used similar magic, it was the blue Inquisitor and was quite effect at creating chaos with ice magic and floods. The girl was much the same, but of course not an elf, and she was much more attractive... for a Human girl.

As he released her hand he gasped a bit, his attention more on that then the enemies around. Not that he would tell Zoraida that, oh wait, he couldn't.

The words of Zoraida were noted and he nodded to her acceptingly - twice, she had no reason to be sorry as it was him that brought the matter to her. He was glad that she was safe, not as much for himself as he was at least somewhat confident in his abilities.

Ain was wet from the rain now and felt a bit of water in his helmet, ugh, he hated when that happened. Taking off his helmet he revealed the full view of his physical features, his pointy elf ears, blonde messy hair that was wet from the rain, violet eyes, fair skin and a youthful appearance - if she known what an elf was she would be able to tell immediately. He shook his helmet out as he looked at Zoraida calmly, he was never one to panic that much, but this still escalated rather quickly for JUST a cellphone.

Rather than put his helmet back on in this rain, he put it in his bag and began shaking off his red cloak a bit. He then realized that they had to head out into the rain again to leave the old warehouses and get back to the main city, he sighed. He hated getting wet almost more than anything... couldn't they wait out the rain first?

Zora leant back against a stone wall, she was getting really quite tired now that they were in a somewhat safer space and her adrenaline levels had dropped. Her body was finally reacting to all the excitement of the day's unexpected events, her mind now racing at what she had learned.

Seeing the young man remove his helmet finally, she noted with surprise that he was an actually elf. She had not expected that. Zoraida took in his blond hair and violet eyes and realised he was quite good-looking.

"You're an elf?" she stated with a laugh. If she had known, she may have been less worried about him. Most elves had a reputation for being able to look after themselves. Oh, well, she'd not dwell on it. She probably would have reacted the same way anyways regardless of him being an elf or not.

"I guess we can wait here til the rain stops... " she suggested, while also thinking she was definitely hailing a taxi as soon as she was back in the safer part of town. The funny thing is the "safer" part of town was probably only just a few blocks away but it felt like miles away instead.

Ain blinked as he didn't even think about the fact that she hadn't seen him without his helmet before, well, to be more exact he never really introduced himself or even found out her name from her own mouth. He however remembered the lizard man knowing her, if he remembered correctly the man said her name was Zoraida Del Bosque of Woodland Imports, he assumed Woodland Imports was a business of some sort.

To the statement that he was an Elf, he let out a small laugh, and pointed to his ears; a small smile now on his face. So, she did know what an Elf was, were they more common here than he thought? He never seen an Elf in Manta Carlos Island in all the time he was here.

The small smile soon faded back to his usual serious expression.

When she mention waiting until the rain stopped he breathed out in relief, before leaning on the wall next to her as the flashes of lightning and the crackles of thunder rung out; the rain continued for the time.

He sort of stared at Zoraida, it wasn't like he meant anything by it but there was little to do in the time they waited, his eyes scanned down her expensive looking tailored attire ...among other things, and fell on her barefeet. Oh, he tapped on Zoraida's shoulder then pointed to her feet. Did she forget in all the excitement?

Zora smiled when he pointed to his ears, it was actually very funny. Neither of them had exchanged a word about themselves til now. Now that they were actually out of danger and waiting for the rain to stop falling. For all they knew either one of them could have been a crazy psychopath.

Resting against the wall, Zora just listened to the rain falling and the storm breaking overhead. It was actually a comforting sound, she liked rainstorms - usually. Or when she was at home or indoors at her office. Lost in thought and companionably silence, Zoraida glanced at the elf when he tapped her shoulder. Looking at him, she followed his violet gaze down to where he was pointing ... and there she saw that she was still barefooted, having taken her shoes off before they were attacked and never having put them back on.

Laughing at this, Zora just shook her head, "I think I may have lost my shoes forever..." she chuckled. "Oh well, I guess it's not the end of the world, at least we are alive," she said, surprised actually that she hadn't noticed til now but thinking it was a good trade-off. She'd have prefered to lose her shoes than her life.

"I think the rain may be letting up soon?" she said as she looked up, listened to the rain falling, and then back at the elf. "Thank you for helping me out back there, " she said remembering know that he had actually carried her to safety during the fight when she had been too weak to actually do much more than stand.
