Ain watched out of the corner of his eye as the girl had used some sort of runic magic to try to open the door, the girl was a mage of some sort and he only now noticed. He somehow didn't even consider the possibility and he was an Inquisitor, Ain truly had lost his touch. It took him a minute to get his hand off of his short sword under his cloak, he breathed then let it go.

The magic the girl had put on the door seemed to work for a second, but then the magic burst outward as if the magic wasn't the right method to open this particular lock - yet there was a sense that if the magic had been more powerful it might have worked.

He sighed, as he activated an ability he had called Mystic Investigation, the ability was something that only he could do among his elven bretheren and allowed him to see the invisible state of magic as well as magic objects within thirty feet of him. The first thing he noticed was the entire door had magic on it, the lock connected to the same magic circuit, and the cellphone was glowing with a faint magic as well.

Huh?

He was about to interfere with the girls attempt to open the door but he stopped for a moment, would she be able to do it on her own?

Zora watched with trepidation as the symbols appeared to start glowing, maybe even working... it seemed the runes were doing something. Suddenly, the magic folded in on itself and the runes stopped glowing. It was as if the door had absorbed the magic energy.

Studying the door from afar, Zora turned her gaze back to the symbols she had drawn. She was sure they were correct now that they seemed to have activated themselves... Slowly an idea came to her and she wondered if maybe, she could boost the spell somehow. Glancing down at her hands, and remembering that some mages used their hands to activate runes, she decided to try it. What could it hurt?

Going back up to the runes, Zora glanced at the young man, gestured for him to get back somewhat. She had no idea what her magic, crazy as it was lately, would do mixed with the runes. For all she knew it could cause an explosion or fizzle like a candle.

Placing her one hand tentatively over the symbols, Zora pressed against the door and the runes and let her magic flow through to it. Almost immediately, the runes started glowing vibrantly like cold fire and she jumped back quickly to where the young blond man was standing.

Amazed at this, she stared in awe at the symbols, wondering if now the door would open.

Ain watched as the girl then tried something a bit different, the girl was pouring more magic energy into the same kind of runes she had previously used, wait that wasn't the proper way to open it; It was too late to do anything to stop it. As she pulled back he really didn't know exactly what would happened, surely the girl knew what she was doing, but he actually was a bit worried.

The magic sparked with fiery magic power unlike before, the door shocked as if trying to reject the magic that was used but the powers instead collided and the door began to shake violently. Um, what did she do, it was as if the magics were fighting against each other causing a destructive force, then after a minute of shaking it finally stopped - nothing for a good moment like it had failed again - but this time a shock came from the runic lock to the side of the door and their was a massive shock that pushed at both Ain and Zoraida, followed by a explosion of of arcane energy sending bits of debris that was loose in the alley to fly towards them.

As a trash can flew their way, Ain interceded infront of Zoraida and took the hit knocking him to his knees. Ouch, that wasn't how it was suppose to work, he chuckled quietly. For a moment there was silence as a creak could be heard from the door, and it fell from its hinges into the alleyway with a loud crash bringing up clouds of dust.

Mesmerized by the sight before her, the spell was reacting in a somewhat unexpected way, it seemed to be building in magnitude as if the two magics were fighting each other. Miraculously her spell also seemed to be feeding the other one, almost overloading it... oh lord, what had she done? was what was running through her mind as she stood planted there watching in morbid fascination, not even aware she could do such things.

Then as the air built around her, she realised her magic energy mixed with the runes was causing something bad to happen, she could feel it, her hairs started standing on edge as she suddenly felt a force shove her backwards followed by a huge explosion. The man suddenly in front of her shielding her from flying debris.

And as soon as it was over, Zora heard a thud as the door suddenly fell off its hinges to the ground. The door was now open. Staring at it, looking at the mess she had made, she turned to the young man and grimaced. "It's open now... not as I hoped though." she admitted somewhat sheepishly, "Do you, should we take a peek in? See what's behind the door?" she asked rather uneasily, shook from the explosion and from the fact that she had caused it apparently.

Ain dusted his self off and stood up right up right, he sort of just stared at her judgmentally for a bit with his hands on his waist. It wasn't just seeing behind the door now, it was seeing what the door was protecting. As the dust settled he noticed something just beyond the doorway, he looked further as he stepped closer, and he noticed that at least six people were on the ground knocked out just inside. 'Uh, are they okay?' he thought to himself as he glanced back at Zoraida then back at the doorway.

He got closer and noticed that all of the people were cloaked figures with very human features, they appeared to be breathing which was a bit of a relief, but they were just a bit too close to the door on the other side when Zoraida used her magic on it. Before he could make a decision to leave before matters got worse, one of the men struggled to his feet, and looked into the alleyway at the two people, "Wha--We are under ATTACK!!" he yelled loudly as he ran back inside, completely in shock over the door being blown off.

This wasn't good, he looked back at the girl behind him, were they attacking a base now? That wasn't really the plan, he would probably leave now if the girl wants too, in fact, there was no way she would want to keep going right?

Zora felt the man's slightly accusatory stare at what she had just done and at her questions about checking the place out. She knew now that her reckless actions could have killed them and felt herself moving between embarrassment, mortification and defensiveness. Usually, well not usually, but lately, she was more careful about things like this and rarely used her magic if she didn't have to. She knew better, and now she might have put themselves in grave danger. Not about to use her magic again, Zora felt herself pale, fear building when a cloaked figure appeared at the doorway and started yelling.

Backing away quickly, Zora looked at the young man worried, she could, if she had to, move magically to another location, even if she ended up in South Africa instead of somewhere safer on the island, but she wasn't about to leave the young man alone, she couldn't bring herself to do that to another person.

"I think we should go...now..." she said with urgency to Ain as she quickly removed her high heels, ready to make a run for it if she had to.

Things were escalating rapidly, figuratively speaking they were in the eye of the storm and though he mostly ignored the people looking through windows when they arrived it now occurred to him that they may all be of the same group. Was all these old warehouses part of their base, or were they missing something.

Ain blinked slightly when Zoraida removed her high heels, and proposed that they make a run for it. Oh, her footwear were terrible for running in, why exactly would she wear such things if they were hard to move in? It then took him a bit to notice that she appeared a bit shorter without them, not that this was the best time for him to even be thinking about this.

The longer they didn't move, the more footsteps he could hear in the distance coming from all sides; they needed to move at once...

He moved next to Zoraida, as he caught the first glimpse of a cloaked figure rounding the corner into the beginning of the alleyway, the face poking out of the hood was lizard-like. The lizard-like man beared his teeth when he saw some people on the ground inside the door. "Who dares attack The Black Wings--" the lizard-like man extends his claws and looks at Ain then at Zoraida. "Huh, Zoraida Del Bosque of Woodland Imports!?" he seemed a bit nervious as he knew exactly who she was, as he fidgets backward, his eyes falling to the destroyed door in shock and a bit of fear. "You came pretty fast, I didn't think you would notice right away. I underestimated you... and your abilities." as the man spoke two other cloaked figures flank him and block the exit out of the alleyway. "That door was reinforced with the most expensive wards and runic magic, and you just destroyed it instantly. How powerful are you?!"

As the lizard man spoke, the sounds of more people could be heard in the distance, though still a ways off he was clearly buying time to box in Zoraida and Ain.

Ain knew that he could escape on his own just fine, but if he did that it would be at the cost of leaving the girl behind. He brought her into this, he would not leave her to her fate. It wasn't clear what he should do, behind them was the now opened door to their base, in front of them was three cloaked figures and more coming - he would leave the decision up to the girl and would help if she wanted to force her way through.

Zora stepped back a little when the cloaked lizard-like man appeared, eyeing him suspiciously, on guard now, sensing that something was up, and staying fairly close now to the blonde haired young stranger that she had managed to land in a very unsettling situation.

Hearing the man address her, but with some hesitation, - apparently, he knew who she was and for some reason, this actually made her somewhat braver - but only slightly. Obviously, he was hesitant about straight up attacking them, not entirely sure why.... Zora began to wonder if her brother had anything to do with this.

The sounds of more people coming their way, made Zora feel more anxious and somewhat scared, she was going to end up acting on impulse, she knew it and that probably wasn't good.

"I can leave this place," she told the young man, "But I can't take you with me, and I'm not leaving you here alone either," she said with a sense of urgency mixed with firmness, having made up her mind not to just take off. Although she had no idea what they could do except run - or maybe try freezing them, but she wasn't very hopeful about that working properly and if it didn't then they might be really screwed.

As things started to get more serious, he noted the word of the girl he heard to be called Zoraida, his mouth opened slightly in surprise that she was refusing to leave him, a complete stranger that has only known her for no more than an hour. She explained that she could get away, but refused because she was not willing to leave him. It was certainly true that he would be fine, but for some reason the act of staying with him made him a bit happy.

A thunderous crackle could be heard in the sky, as darker clouds had started to cover over the days sunlight...

Ain smiled a bit at Zoraida as he pulled out his long bow, and nocked an arrow; he would need to be careful not to kill them within the city limits or he will have police after him again but he still would shoot them in the arms or legs just fine. Readying his bow to fire, he aimed at the lizard man.

The lizard man shocked by the fact Ain pulled out a weapon, pulled out his cellphone, the other two doing the same for some unknown reason. "OPEN, " he said as the cellphone sparked with magic power like that of a magic wand, the other two following suit repeating the same word, "OPEN." The lizard man hesitated a bit, before firing off a firebolt at Ain's feet. "I don't know who you are, but The Black Wing's will crush you if you don't stand down. So, what do you say? Stand down please."

Without really listening to what they had to say further, Ain fired an arrow at the lizard man and grazed his hand causing him to drop his cellphone. At that moment, the fighting had started and the other two Black Wing members fired off magic at Ain with incredible casting speed, the one on the left shot out a large icicle spear that threatened to pierce him, the one on the right fired a firebolt just like the lizard man.

Ain dodged quickly to the left to avoid the icicle spear and watched as it as it kept going and pierced right through the thick door that was on the ground, as if knowing where Ain was going to move the firebolt flew early and ignited him into a ball of fire as he was knocked back by the spell. Their magic was very basic yet it was more powerful than normal, he noted this fact, as he shook the flames off of him with his speed... still it burned him a little.

His eyes fell to the cellphones, were they instead magic tools disquised as cellphones, before he really had much time to think they were already firing off more magic, the lizard man rather than act without the cellphone - dived for it on the ground. Another icicle spear grazed past him, and this time he managed to push off the alleyway's wall to dodge the firebolt.

Just then, five more cloaked figures appeared behind the other three and pulled out their cellphones, "OPEN," each one said almost in unison. This was getting worse by the moment...

"Maldita sea...* " Zoraida muttered in utter dismay as she saw things started to escalate around them, the sky darkening, magic flying everywhere, the lizard-like individual asking them to stand down, and the young stranger flinging off arrows as he tried to avoid fireballs and ice spears hurling past them.

Ice spears? she suddenly realised, a water source... not sure what she was going to do she bent down and grabbed a hold of one, the cold wetness being instantly absorbed through her hand as she allowed her body's magic to recharge itself. It had been a while since she had used any sort of battle or defensive magic - she hadn't ever needed it - but her father had insisted she know how to defend herself.

Watching Ain duck behind a corner, out of the way, she was pretty sure - or hoped - that he'd not be affected. Then she quickly knelt down on one knee, put her hands on the ground - said a small prayer to any god that was listening that her magic didn't fail her or go awry to badly - and began freezing the ground, causing anything on it to be frozen solid, and any person, except her the caster, standing within the radius of her magic to quickly be frozen with a inch layer of ice to the ground, immobilizing them... the spell would only be temporary, but the ice would need to thaw before they could move again.

Finishing, she actually felt herself start to slump forward a little, dizzy, drained and weak, she had used a stronger spell than she had wanted to, taking a breathe to steady herself, Zora pushed herself up slowly. After a second, she got to her feet and stood there surveying how well the spell had worked and to see just how much damage she had actually done.

**Damn it all.
