Soren slipped into the crowded lunch room, his lunch held in one hand. He normally ate on the roof, but the pouring rain had ruined that prospect.

He moved a bit further into the crowd, his wings vanishing in a white shimmer, his shimmering turquoise eyes looking around as he tried to find a seat, this was why he never ate in here.

Yasmine was sitting where she always did, at the head of the table closest to the line. Her uniform was immaculate, her hair styled just right, everything was perfect. The yammering sycophants, mostly girls her age, were all talking among themselves about the latest styles and who was sleeping with who. She ignored them for the most part, watching the incoming crowd.

There, just a flash, a young male with ... wings. His wings shimmered slightly and vanished. Curious. She tapped the shoulder of one of her worker bees, and the girl turned as fast as she could.

"Yes Lady O'Haire?" She asked, eager to please. Yasmine tried not to roll her eyes.

"I want to talk to him." Yasmine ordered, nodding to the lost looking boy. The girls all looked at one another, surprised. The one she had spoken to nodded once and got to her feet, walking over to him.

"Hey you." The girl said to the boy with hidden wings. "Come with me."

He turned to the girl in surprise, despite his friendly nature he didn't have a lot of friends. Seemed it would get him a seat at least so he followed the girl back to the table.

The table held a group of people, at the head was a girl around his age, he recognized none of them, which the begged the question as to why he was here.

His eyes went to the girl at the head of the table, "I assume I can thank you for the invitation," he said with a calm yet confident smile.

Yasmine clicked her tongue and gave as pleasant a smile as she was willing to give to someone who's social status she did not yet know. He was confident though, despite being in the presence of 'school royalty'.

Whispers spread throughout the cafeteria as she looked him over for a moment. "I am." She said, and nodded to a seat to her immediate left. "Take that seat, and tell me about those wings of yours."

Her eyes flashed just once and the food belonging to the girls to her left slid as one down the table, moving over exactly one seat before stopping. The girls knew better than to complain, they got up, moved seats, and resumed eating.

His shimmering turquoise eyes watched at the girl moved down, as if a command had been given. He couldn't help but be interested in the sway this girl held over the others.

He took the seat, his calm smile never leaving his face, "my wings simple angel wings," making sure no one was behind him he made his wings appear in a shimmer of white, he kept them close to himself to not bother the others.

They the purest of white, beautiful, "there nothing special," he said with a small grin, he was being humble, though he did take some pride in them, "though flying is awesone, you should from the air, nothing like it."

Yasmine reached out and ran her finger along the vein of one of his feathers. Her eyes flicked up to look him in the face. "Nothing special?" She turned and looked at the girls who all began to laugh. She didn't. They slowly fell to silence.

"They are incredible." She said, shifting a bit and pointing toward the seat. "You should sit with us." She said firmly, holding her head high. "You belong with other incredible people."

He was an extraordinary person, just like herself. Superior. Which meant that he didn't need to sit with the rabble. It seemed like he didn't quite understand that, so she would help. The added plus was that he was pretty good looking.

He had never considered himself incredible, he wasn't the only winged being here, he wasn't even the only nephilim here.

He smiled and took the seat, folding his wings neatly against his back, "thank you." He looked to the girl, beautiful, gave off a sense of power and confidence, a very attractive combination.

"My name is Soren Haine, I'm nephilim, half human," he had never hidden what he was, sure he wondered if being half human affected his powers. "It's a pleasure to be here."

Yasmine assessed him for a moment, her eyes glittering. He was half human, which was a black mark, but that could be forgiven thanks to his angelic blood. It was far more rare than he probably realized. She crossed her legs and looked at the other girls.

"Well Soren, welcome to our table." She said just as a girl approached her from the right, she handed Yasmine a note and the heiress of the O'Haire family read it briefly before putting it down on the table face down. She looked to the others.

After making a decision she nodded to the girl at the end of the table, furthest from her. "Go to the faculty offices and let them know I'll be speaking with them this afternoon." She ordered. The girl, who hadn't yet finished her lunch, hopped to her feet and made her way out of the cafeteria.

"Anyway." She said, flipping her hair and turning back to Soren. "Where were we?'

"Thank you," he said honestly grateful, it was nice to sit with others, and the hostess intrigued him. She had an air of power and control.

He watched her interaction with the other girl, it was clear this girl had some sway to the going ons of the school.

He smiled as she turned back to him, "introductions I believe, I still don't know you're name." There was something about this girl.

One of the girls at the table stood up and slammed her hands down. She glared at Soren with a look of frank irritation. "Excuse me? You don't know who you're talking too?!" She demanded, pointing a finger at Soren.

"This is Yasmine O'Haire, Heiress of the O'Haire family of high-breed psions, one of the leaders of the Premier Club and one of the top students at the school! Know your place!" The girl said harshly, while the other girls turned their noses up against Soren. Yasmine's lip twitched and she looked at him.

"Excuse them, they get overexcited." She said, though she didn't look sorry for the outburst, it fed her ego after all. She crossed her legs and placed a hand on his arm. "Be polite, ladies." She said sweetly, though it came out as a whip crack. The girls all backed down.

"Yasmine O'Haire. It's very nice to meet you Soren."
