"You ready to go, dweeb?"
Ava grinned and stretched a bit at the other end of the gymnasium. Orsick was on the other end, they were here to spar and both wanted to train their new powers.
Ava was literally burning to try these sweet new skills she'd been working on desperately. It was damn humiliating she hadn't been able to partial shift. Well, that was different now, and had come with other awesome powers on the side.
"I'll try to hold back for you, don't worry."
Ava poked and snickered, Orsick didn't really need her holding back but teasing was Ava's way.

"Sorry but, I don't know what restraint means. So this might hurt," Orsick grinned, cracking his knuckles. He needed to see what all he could do with this new set of abilities he'd gotten. Partial shifting was still a ways off for him. There was also the matter of his shadow energy not being the best element for sparring normally, he didn't actually want to hurt Ava. There was also the fact of his regular sparring with Titus he'd see how this went.

"I'm ready whenever you are."

"I'd be disappointed if it didn't hurt."
Ava laughed and she herself finished up stretching. And since Orsick gave her the go ahead Ava smirked and got right to it. She built up heat from inside her, and instead of spitting it out she gathered it in her legs and arms. And she started shifting, but concentrated on her limbs alone. Ava watched her skin grow in thickness and get covered by a few centimeters thick layer of lava. Her feet and hands became claws of hardened lava and she grew her tail as well because Ava wanted to boast. The tip of Ava's tail was a flame that burned 1500 degrees celsius.
Thank goodness she had worn fire resistant sports bra and shorts.
Ava laughed again as she looked at her transformation, she fucking loved this. She'd never get bored of it.
"Ready."
Ava said with a confident grin and boosted herself off the ground, zooming towards Orsick. If they were on ground Ava's kickoff would've left two small craters on the ground.
Ava swung her lava claws at Orsick, they weren't sharp(yet) and Ava had lowered her temperature to 40 degrees celsius. So if she did make contact Ava would just smack Orsick away with force that he could withstand.

Ava came at him with her new fancy partial shifting. She'd be hard to deal with considering she was covered in magma. Still, he had a whole bag of tricks up his sleeve thanks to his regalia. For this attack though he'd dodge it. Orsick was wasting no time in launching a counter attack. He formed a sphere of shadow energy, and threw it at her.

Assuming it hit she'd find out he wasn't kidding about the pain. It would fire off all the pain receptors and feel a little like everything. It wasn't a fun energy to get hit with, definitely not for sparring since there was no way to hold it back. Still if she was going all in then so would he.

Of course the little twerp dodged, he wasn't that stupid. For a moment Ava considered swiping with her tail, but for some reason she couldn't lower the temperature of her tail flame and that shig would instantly set a human aflame. Ava didn't want to seriously harm Orsick, so she let him get out of reach and counter attack. It was a ball of that shadow energy Orsick had, and for a moment Ava wanted to take that attack so she'd see how it felt, if she could withstand it. But Ava rejected that thought, she could get hit by it later down the line just as well. So Ava dodged the ball with a quick side step, her expression was serious now.

"Are we playing catch or something? Try and hit me."
Ava said and let the lava skin creep up to cover her cheeks. She had big magma claws on both her hands now and Ava punched her fists together, beckoning Orsick to attack.

"Well, alright then, if you insist," Orsick grinned and decided to try one of his new tricks: Location swapping. He tossed another glob of shadow energy into the air above him, then swapped places with Ava. The feeling was weird and instantaneous. He'd practiced it on his own though, it wasn't disorienting to him.

Orsick began radiating his shadow energy, gathering it around his hands and feet. Then he hurled several more at her. "Hope you did good with dodge ball, otherwise this is gonna hurt."

Ava could almost sense Orsick was going to do some trick and braced herself, but that didn't really do much good. Because one moment Ava was in her original spot, and suddenly she and Orsick switched places. Or at least that's what Ava suspected, judging from the surroundings. She blinked a couple of times but tried to stay focused, as Orsick started tossing a whole bunch of that energy of his towards Ava.

"For your information, I rock at dodge ball. But I don't need that."
With that Ava crouched down and created as much lava as she could, forming a kind of protective bubble around herself. Her magma was barely enough to cover her whole body from all sides. Ava cooled the lava enough it was almost hardened but not enough so she wouldn't have been able to control it. And after the energy hit the wall Ava gathered the magma on one spot and hurled a similar attack towards Orsick, multiple masses of magma.
"Now how about you dodge? Don't wanna get burned!"

"No thanks," Orsick said, and opened a portal for the magma to fly into. The exit would pop up right in front of Ava, hitting her point blank. Probably. He was keeping her at a distance, he'd prefered close combat but... magma would make that route difficult. He'd have to get Vega to teach him some phasing techniques at some point.

"Party rogue!" he shouted, then he vanished without warning. Completely silent, and unseen.

Ava saw the portal open, and just in case jumped back since she didn't know where the exit would appear and backwards was just as good a direction as any. Good thing she did, because the exit popped right in front of her a moment later and Ava was able to take control of most of the magma flying at her. One of the magmas hit her on her stomach, but it safely assimilated with her lava layer without any damage done.
"Nice try."
Ava said with a small smirk.

Ava cocked a brow at the yell, and snorted a bit. Orsick vanished, and Ava couldn't see or hear him anymore.
"Party rogue? Seriously? Laaame."
Ava said and did what she had wanted to do ever since this spar began. She concentrated and sprouted her lava covered wings, too small to carry her on her dragon form. But in human form? Ava flapped them once and they shot her in the air. Ava had the happiest expression, she had wanted to be able to fly ever since she was small.
"This is fucking awesome."
Ava laughed to herself as she flew up and took a position where she could see the whole gymnasium without having to watch her back.
"Come on, party rogue, give me your best shot."

At the point where he was, flying away from him could only do so much for her. Orsick was still cloaked for Ava, but it was time for some new tricks. She'd smell any approach he'd make anyway. So why even approach her at all? Orsick shifted into his dragon form while maintaining his illusion. Then he switched locations with her, so he was in the air, and she was on the ground.

Then he flew at her. Between his scales, and the fact that he'd wreathed himself in shadow energy he'd probably have enough protection against the magma. At least to fight it in close range. His wings were practically arms in and of themselves. He'd grown a couple feet over the past couple months, now he was bigger than most average humans in his dragon form.

Orsick dropped his invisibility and rushed at Ava, letting out one of his signature vicious sounding roars.
