"I-I can't go home with new clothes and being clean." She couldn't hold back any longer, she had held back since the two first meet. "If I go home like this then he will know I have disobeyed his orders and punich me." punichment that could break her entirely, while it had been her choice to stay by him and her silently revolt against him she needed to act like a good pet when he was awake.

A good pet that takes all the punichment while pretending to serve him does take a more psycological toll then a physical however punichment also served to breaking her mind one part at the time and so long she was determinded to stay at his side she had to play the part, it was a vicious circle.

"My friend have two personalities, one bad and one good." a single tear fel down her check "I stand with Light, his gentle personality, he is the nicest in the world and he cannot lose to Dark or we are all doomed as either pets or cattle." Darks words of describing humans, cattle, tasted disgusting as the word left her lips.

"You can't?"

Jacob was a little perplexed by Lavi's insistence that she couldn't go home in the state that she was in. Little did he know that there was something more sinister and troubling behind that particular bit of strange behavior.

Suffice it to say, Jacob was reflexively disgusted and angered by what she said. Not at Lavi. But at the other person, the male, that doled out punishments to her for daring to be clean and well-clothed. He nearly dropped the plates he was carrying when it images of Lavi being beaten and abused at the hand of some callous boyfriend or trusted companion, and he immediately pictured himself meeting that man and bringing along his sword. But he suppressed the violent thoughts, and settled with simply being angry.

"Th-That's atrocious!"

His words were preemptive. Lavi explained her situation in detail. For a moment, it did nothing to assuage his anger, and he approached Lavi with his best Protective Dad look on his face. But when he pieced her words with her previous explanation, Jacob suddenly felt more mixed feelings. The relationship was indeed abusive, but it sounded like it was another case of "two spirits, one body".

"I'm sorry to hear that. But there's gotta be something you can do."

Jacob's expression softened and he gently wiped away her tear.

"Listen, I work at the Academy. Maybe there's a spell or something that can be used to... get rid of the Dark personality. I wouldn't know it. But there are others who could help."

The academy? That's where he worked? That wasn't good, he was bound to bump into Black sometime, no matter what personality was active. Light worked as a teacher there though he couldn't look into spells or such to help him or Lavi because if Dark where to awaken he would be supplied with a clue as to what happens when he time lapses. Dark took the guise as a teacher and scanned for eventual prime cattle or a good subject to turn slave.

"You cannot approach him or you risk exposing Light" What was more she needed to warn him "I don't know if i was lucky or not but before he got his power to turn anyone a willing slave, he manually trained me so avoid his eyes." She was sure she didn't need to explain what manual training meant when it came to making a slave wether or not this was so she feelt that she couldn't explain without risk of flooding her eyes.

There was nothing about Lavi's situation with the Dark, or whatever she called it, that Jacob liked. Even with all the magical influences and the presence of wolf spirits, they did not change the fact that it sounded like she was in a heavily abusive relationship. All evidence was there, and Lavi was not even doing anything to hide behind veiled words and hints at possible love. To him, she sounded like she was just plain admitting that she was in an abusive relationship.

Jacob was fighting with himself with every word she said to describe how she lived with the Dark. Every part of him wanted to do something, anything, to help her. But her circumstances beyond conventional aid and whatever chances were left were too risky. Jacob looked frustrated, yet concerned.

"Well... Dammit... Lavi, there's gotta be something I can do to help."

He put a hand on her shoulder, to show that he meant well for her.

"Try to understand. None of this sounds good in my ears. You're being trained by him, to avoid his eyes. That's abuse. I just can't let you go back to that. Not without trying to do something."

"It is abuse." She confirmed, a thing not necessarily as easy as it sounds. "To stay with Light, I have to stay with Dark. I can't fight Dark because they share body so the easiest thing is to pretend to be what Dark want me to be and then I can be with Light." The words, the explanation where harder then in her mind, she had to fight the tears the entire time while speaking but when she mentioned Light's name last time she couldn't hold it anymore and released a few tears.

She saw two choices, one where she would leave Light and in turn leave Dark and the other option was to stay by Light's side even if it meant that she had to swallow her pride and ferocity. She had chosen the latter, she still remembered way back in time when the two personalities erupted, when Light looked at Lavi with a tear in his eyes saying he had a nightmare. That nightmare was the first and only time Light knew what happened when he wasn't in control but it was most lightly that Dark hadn't awoken fully at that one time.

Lavi probably had absolutely no intention of striking Jacob's weak point, but she was doing so with great skill and accuracy. The moment more tears hit her cheeks, his heart melted and he had to restrain himself from making comforting cooing noises like he might do for a dog or small child. What he did not restrain himself from doing was reaching out to the poor young woman and wrapping his arms around her in a warm hug and holding her head to his chest.

"Oh, Lavi..."

The way he held her and spoke was exactly how he might have held his own daughter when she was troubled and sad. There was closeness and comfort in it, and no sign of any ill intent. He just wanted to make her tears go away.

It was obvious that there was almost nothing Jacob could do for her and her situation. Not alone anyway. To push the issue, even to save the Light person she kept mentioning, would result in greater punishments for her. There was always a time to try and help someone in a bad relationship, but the direct approach was not always the best. To some it sounded cruel, but sometimes it was a better option for someone to wait it out for another chance instead of risking worse.

"Okay... Look. If you ever need someplace to go to get away from Dark, you can come here. It's safe here. And if you want, I can talk to other people for you and see if we can get something done about this whole mess, okay?"

Lavi hugged back and dried of her tears on Jacobs clothes, not even thinking she accidentally hugged a little to hard with her super strength "Sorry". Jacob sure was a nice fellow but could she hope, would she dare hope. She believed in him, he wouldn't betray her "Perhaps you would join me and fight for Light, without Dark's influence" Dark's influence was what she called his need for control over her.

She had felt safe for far to long at Jacobs place, so much that she had left her guard down "Black stops working soon so I have to go, do you want your clothes back? you know i can't go home with them." She looked at Jacob curiously with some moist left around her eyes from her tears, what would his answer be.

At first Jacob thought that Lavi's hug was simply extra snug, born of a need to find comfort in someone even though Jacob was mostly a stranger to her. That was fine until it got a little too tight and he started to find it difficult to breathe. Fortunately she stopped before he started struggling for air. He just assumed that she was just hugging really hard out of emotions, and did not think much more of it.

"I think I can or, at least, I know that I'll be on your side when it comes time to get you out of this mess. You'll just have to come find me."

Jacob was just realizing that he was promising a lot to Lavi, but all she really knew about him was where he lived and what she had gleaned from her time with him. Between that and knowing that he worked at the Academy, hopefully it would be enough to find him again.

"Keep the clothes, I have no need for them. It'll draw less suspicion than a half-naked girl leaving my apartment."

Any girl leaving his apartment that was not Lenn was going to be a hassle enough.

"Just ditch them when you got the chance, and be safe out there."

Now Lavi really had to go home, lest Dark returns from school to find her not there, that wouldn't be such a good idea, not now that she had gained an ally.

"Thank you again"

She walked to the door, opened it and turned to Jacob showing a hint of bowing before leaving, it was the hardest thing she had done in awhile since she fought getting tamed, bowing was a bad thing. She eventually turned around though to return home.
