"Yeah, I guess that does make sense," he said. There was this sort of unspoken code among necromancers when it came to proper ethical use of their powers. He understood how magic worked, he never actually had any real magic of his own to practice. That would explain why angry spirits get angrier when disturbed. "I just shoot fire and turn into a monster," he muttered as he scribbled some more notes down. "The only rules I have are don't be too scary and try not to maim anyone," he rolled his eyes. He loved his powers, but they seemed so simple compared to something like necromancy.

He found himself getting lost in the book he was taking notes from. "Holy-" he stopped and looked up. "There's an entire underwater society like right near the islands," he said looking up from his book. He skimmed a little more, "So back when they were settling here a lot of ships were lost to sea monsters," Monta Carlo was definitely something significant. "Of course, I'm sure that could happen anywhere but the frequency," he turned his book to Iridian to show her the timeline. "What's so special about this place?"

"I bet you don't turn into a monster," Iridian replied to his mutter with a small smile. "If you did, there'd be so many more rules." He sounded like he needed comforting and Iridian had practised many times at reassuring people. She turned back to her book, trying to remember the name of the thing he turned into. It was a bit like a dragon... but not completely. A dragon in itself sounded awesome.

She was distracted by her reading with the word 'holy' coming from Travis' mouth as he was reading. No spiritual presences without a body were around. She watched him, which was good because he began to talk. An underwater city? Woah. She wanted to go there. But then sea monsters. She should've known. Upon seeing the book, Iridian was impressed. "That much?" she questioned rhetorically. Add another reason why this place was seething with deceased. "Well, everybody has a magical quality and most are here to protect the ordinary people of the world. It's not possible for normal people to see the island, and it's never been marked on any map. Once you're here, you normally don't leave."

"Well I get four heads, claws, wings," his voice trailed off. He knew what she was getting at and he didn't dislike his other form. "I'm not feral or anything so my personality is still me, but in terms of body it's a little monstrous," he shrugged and sat back in his seat, balancing his pencil on his nose. He never really felt like a freak, or at least he hadn't for a while. He was who he was and there wasn't anything he could or would do to change it. "But thanks."

"Well, I mean when there's a chance of an angry kraken dragging your boat into the briny deep why bother?" he smirked. He actually liked the island. A nice hidden cove where abnormal things were the norm. "But honestly, why leave? This place is nice," he said returning to his books.

"No problem," Iridian shrugged, before realising that she was having a long conversation with a living person. "If you have four heads, do you have four brains?" she asked thoughtfully, wondering how intelligent he must be if that was true, or whether three heads lacked it and got told what to do by his head. Either way, four heads was extremely interesting. If that was him, what was his parents? A hydra?

"Bother because it's a place everyone can belong," Iridian answered, "I mean, who knows what normal people would think if they saw us. We'd probably be killed or something." She couldn't give a justification for the next question. Personally, she'd never leave, but lots of people would... "Ambitions. If you want to be an Olympic athlete, you're not doing it here."

"Well, yeah I have four brains," his voice trailed off as he tried to think of a way to explain just what went into becoming a chimera. Of course it was hard due solely to the fact that the transformation was something he'd been doing since early childhood. At this point it was just second nature to him. "I don't really have a head that's dominant, it's more like my consciousness is spread into all the heads. So it's like being in different places at once. I don't get smarter but I do process things a lot faster."

"But there are like super people sports, why try and enter the Olympics," he rubbed his chin. The average person wasn't aware of all of the supernatural phenomena that went on in the world and for good reason. Taking into account all of the events that could have ended in doomsday scenarios. Not to mention humans feared anything that threatened their perceived place at the top of the food chain.

"That sounds cool," Iridian said honestly. Especially the fact that there was different heads and consciences. She imagined being Travis for a few moments, before turning back to her notes. "Who do you think checks for any sea monster troubles?" A water rescue service? Not every wreckage may have a survivor. Would they have to swim down there in scuba diving gear to check it out? There was many possibilities. Always so many choices. Iridian hated decisions.

"They're the biggest sporting event in the history of the world. To play for your home country is a huge honour. And people have families, I suppose. That don't live here, maybe can't live here," Iridian suggested with a thoughtful tone. She loved the sports on Monte Carlos a lot more than the sports around the rest of the world, because she got to watch people use their powers in a friendly game.

"There's probably some arrangement between the local government and the ocean people. Based on this relations are kind of tense at best," he jotted some notes down. The underwater societies were interesting due solely to the diversity of the sentient life. Not everything was humanoid or human sized for that matter. He thought about it a bit, there had to be some other creatures down there that actually did what they could for people. "The only way I can really describe their system of government is a monarchy of organized chaos," he shuddered to think what all that entailed.

"Well my mom doesn't live here, but she's seriously considering moving out here," the thought of holidays came to mind at the notion of people having families to visit. When he thought about it, his mother could probably get a cozy teaching job with her skills. "What about you?" he looked up in curiosity. She probably had someone back home too.

"Maybe we should check it out. There'll be newspapers or something," Iridian suggested. "Audio diaries, ship logs, journals..." She thought aloud with a quieter tone. "The ocean itself. Sirens. Mermaids. There's lots of information just floating around." A monarchy of organised chaos didn't exactly sound safe, but she did think that the more they knew, the better. Iridian didn't just want to know for the project, but also for personal knowledge too.

"My grandad raised me," she replied with a smile. "He's also the person who got me into this school. Though I doubt he'll ever live here. He's a busy man." She sighed at that. There was always something for him to do. "But it'd be cool if he did." Iridian hoped Travis' mum did move to Monte Carlos; it wasn't nice when you first moved and didn't know anyone.

((OoC: I might not be able to come online for the next week since I'm going on holiday but I'll try))

"I wonder what kind of magic they use down there," Travis thought out loud. Then again, he was sure some of the creatures down in the deep didn't even require magic like people on the surface. If nothing else they probably used it for simple. "I guess it's my feral side, but I kind of understand the appeal of their governing systems. You just get a couple simple ground rules and you're free to do whatever as long as you don't anger the biggest guy," he shrugged. "I don't that kind of thing could work up here where things are a little tamer."

He listened to her talk about her Grandfather. "Well I mean you still keep in contact with him though right?" he asked. Even he phoned home every so often. "And I guess you'll slip back home over the summer to visit too wouldn't you?"

((It's all fine if you're going away try to enjoy yourself. I won't get too stir crazy =P))

"Probably hydro-related magic... charming spells... maybe even fire users... and some can rely on size." Iridian thought about that. She knew a few underwater legends, but none really mentioned what magic they used apart from sirens. She thought about the governing system carefully. Iridian knew nothing of politics, but she understood what Travis' idea was. "I doubt many people really get into fights. Or kill people." There'd be a few. This world wasn't completely free. Evil lurked in a lot of places. She tried not to let her mind wander to the villains of Monte Carlos.

"I've got ways of contact," she was rather simple. Iridian found that ghosts liked to travel. So she gave them an option. "So far, I haven't visited back yet. But I will when the chance comes."
