Konpeitō barely minded their intertwined hands. This was his comfort zone: relaxing through physical contact and conversation. If they weren't in the middle of conversation, he would purr. For now, he had his tails raised high, twitching once in a while as they spoke.

"Everything has mystery depending on how far you're willing to investigate. I'm sure we can get all the answers we need if we asked. Or used the internet." He laughs. "Most controversies surrounding a business can be found on the internet. I haven't found any on Owen's when I looked into it, so don't worry. The closest is no one knowing who Owen, the supposed original owner, is. Now that's a mystery," he continued with a mischievous smile.

And as he said that, the meatery entered their sights. Two people were eating at one of the tables outside. Konpeitō eyed an empty table nearby. Cool air after a workout was always nice, but Osmond might not think the same. He wasn't the one covered in fur.

Oz shook his head all this talk of mystery, but Kon's enthusiasm was infectious and it pulled a slight smile to his lips. Slowly, Oz began to relax and could enjoy their walk to the meatery. "Shall we sit outside?" Oz said, noticing the way Kon eyed the open tables. He kept his tone light, casual, but internally Oz felt tense. He avoided public restaurants for a reason and had to resist the urge to fiddle with his aura warning bracelet.

Once inside the meatery, Oz took the time to study the menu. He couldn't say anything was particularly two his tastes, but the less appetizing items were the ones that held the most nutrition and energy to him. "Order what you'd like," He told Kon and put in his own order for two stinger scones.

Konpeitō failed to notice his eyes being followed. If Osmond was fine with sitting outside, then that was more than perfect. "That would be great. If you get cold, my hands won't be available while eating, but my tails on the other hand..." his two tails curled upward before hitting Osmond's back lightly, "they're available."

The warmth of the inside was welcomed, however. Summer made the nights warmer, but it was a distinctly different kind of warmth than an air conditions building. He ordered a mix of several Kraken Sweet Breads and Sweeter Than Meat Buns.

Once their orders were taken, he turned towards Osmond "Aaaare... you paying? I thought this time we would pay for our own orders." He rubbed the back of his neck with a smile. There was the possibility that he was completely off base, but what Osmond said sounded more like someone planning to pay than someone potentially disgusted by whatever Konpeitō wanted to eat. "It's not like I gave you anything. I don't want to just take from you."

Oz sighed, "I don't think I have to worry about being cold." Not in this weather. After the two placed their orders Oz pulled out his wallet and card. "I was the one who invited you out for a meal." Oz said. Though they may have agreed to paying separately next time it didn't sit right with him to ask someone out and then not offer to pay. "I do not feel that you are taking anything from me." He continued, "But if you wish for us to pay separately then I have no problem with that either."

Whoever paid, Oz would take their orders and carry them outside to an empty table. Oz selected a spot that would put the most distance between him and the other dinners. There was a nervousness about him as he sat down. Normally he avoided eating out due to his aura. He kept the hand with his aura warning bracelet on the table, and where it could be clearly seen.

"No no, if you insist," he spoke teasingly. "I'll have to repay you some other time." He knew he was being stingy, and he accepted that, but he also wasn't the type to do back and forth on who gets to pay or "No you hang up first" type of shit.

When all was done, he happily seated himself at the table Osmond picked. Konpeitō wasn't able to get a bite into his food before he picked up on Osmond's nervousness. Not wanting to draw attention to the obvious problem, he purred as his tailed curled upwards.

"You're such a gentleman, you know? I badger you into going to yoga with me and tease you afterward, then you hold hands with me to a place I picked and pay for both of our meals. I thought you'd be easy to predict and I keep getting surprised." And as if he said nothing at all, he took a bite out of his meat bun, careful to not get any fillings on his fur.

Oz wasn't much for that coy game either. It was nice to know that neither was Kon. Other time. . . it implied there would be other times, and that thought stuck with Oz as they went to their seats. He picked at his scones, pinching off pieces to eat. Kon's purr caught his attention, and Oz's eyes follow the curve of his tail, expecting more mischief.

It was not mischief, but a rather heartfelt compliment, even if Kon tried to pass it off as nothing huge. Oz popped a bite of scone into his mouth before he replied. "Here I thought I was predicable and clearly a gentleman. I shall have to reconsider my outward appearance and attitude." His tone was light and teasing, but also clearly fond. Maybe Oz was feeling bold but it was Kon's compliment that solidified what Oz felt.

"We should go out." Oz said, and then because that wasn't exactly what he meant, "We should see each other. As in date." Oz was always bad at this part.

Konpeitō was mustering up a teasing reply when Osmond slapped him in the face with a few simple words. Or maybe they weren't simple, considering how off-kilter he suddenly felt.

"I'd like that." The reply came out fast and certain. Not sounding desperate wasn't something he learned over the course of his life. He let out a smooth laugh, taking the chance to recenter himself. Not that it helped hide Osmond's effect on him. His pupils were wide, the entirety of his body became a little pinker, and his tail stood up twitching. "Way to prove my point. I can't say no when a unpredictable ungentleman man asks me out. I have to take the opportunity to help your reconsideration."

"I'd like that."

Oz heaved a sigh of relief. The gap of silence between asking someone out and their reply felt like a tortuous eternity. The question had left him emotionally vulnerable in a way he never felt comfortable with. Much of Oz's life operated on predetermined path. The hard part was over, Kon had accepted, eagerly so. "And you can pay next time if you'd like." Oz said with a slight smile.

He hadn't noticed, but Oz had relaxed, his mind completely off his aura. "And maybe I can pick the place. I promise no where too expensive." It was a light jab, something to tease and continue their easy banter.

"Never mind," he replied immediately. His smile was playful, but restrained. It was testing, seeing how Osmond would respond. "I changed my mind. I think I'll find myself another handsome teacher on Bleedr. Someone who will buy me all the meat buns I could wish for. He would ask for nothing but my love. A fair exchange, I'd say." To hide his smile from getting bigger, he ate another one of his buns.

Never mind? Oz faltered, then leveled Kon with the flattest expression he could manage. Such an awful way to tease him after bearing his heart like that. Kon thought he hid his smile but Oz caught it. "What a shame." He said in a dry tone, "Now where am I going to find a colorful catboy to date and buy food for?" Oz shook his head, "To think my only mistake was an offer to pick the next date location and let my date pay, after he made the offer to."
