Zora. A part of Jude felt like Zora would be better to have waited, but at the same time... Maybe it was better to get it over with. To get it out of the way.

But the moment Broen said he had a confession?

Good god. Jude had no idea what he was going to say, but he was stressing over it anyway as he nodded, getting up and heading into the hall where he absentmindedly rubbed his hand.

"It is," he agreed.

Zora just watched curiously as Jude and Rory left the room, not sure what Broen could have to say that the others could not hear. Looking at him concerned when they closed the door, Zora let Broen continue.

"So..." Broen said once the door was closed. He looked at his feet and held his breath, trying to build up his courage. But it wasn't courage that was making him do this. It was guilt.

"You're... probably gonna hate me. And I get it, if you wanna press charges after you know."

He looked up at her for the briefest of moments, but couldn't manage to maintain eye contact. He'd chicken out if he didn't just say it. But despite him trying his best, he still mumbled.

"...I was the one blackmailing you. From that party..."

Zora just stared at Broen for the longest time, not quite knowing what to say to his confession. She had frankly been expecting something much worse than that. Hell, she had thought the blackmailer was her own brother so to hear that it was Broen shocked her... but for some reason, after all the shit that had gone down today, and the fact she was simply glad he was alive, made it all rather amusing.

Hiding a grin, she found that she actually wasn't angry with him. She knew she should be, but she also had a feeling that the Broen right now in front of her was not the Broen of a few hours ago.

"Thank you for telling me that... " Zora said as she regarded him calmly, "Why confess though, and more importantly, why did you do it? You know I would have just given you the money if you needed it, no?" she said keeping her tone gentle.

Broen stared at her, feeling his stomach flip again. He grabbed the pillow from the bed and hugged it tight, trying to force down the queasiness. "I did it before I started working for you. And there was no easy way to just make it stop without implicating myself."

He growled. "Zora I need you to take this seriously. I didn't need the money, I thought you were a dumb rich cunt I could milk for cash. And then I started working for you because I figured I could get more money that way. And frankly being s bodyguard was more fun than going to fuckin college."

Broen grimaced. "But now I just feel... guilty. And I don't feel better for confessing. But I at least feel a little less like I'm gonna vomit."

Zora raised an eyebrow at Broen's words and sighed, "Okay..." she said, "I get that. I suppose it's easy to think I am an easy target - a dumb rich cunt as it were," she said as she looked at him, not sure what to even think or say.

"Do you still think I'm that?" she asked pointedly. Zora had always suspected Broen barely respected or even liked her, but this straight out confession left her a bit at loss for words. She wasn't mad, just slightly taken aback by his words.

Angelo was a man on a mission. He'd been forced to stick around work, making his reports and getting his hide tanned by the bosses. Only once they'd signed off on him had he been able to head back, picking up a few things and then heading out to grab Travis at work.

He was still more or less dressed in his work clothes, only he'd thrown a (very large) hoodie on over top, and left his badge in his pocket. Short of sticking a baseball cap on, that was the most I'm not on duty he could manage, and with the brown paper bag at his side few would make the mistake.

He was directed almost immediately, letting out a hmph when he realized Jude didn't have a room of his own, but the relief was palpable when he spotted Rory and Jude standing awkwardly in the hallway.

"Thank god," Angelo muttered under his breath.

"Please be fucking angry at me... fucking please!" Broen threw his pillow across the room, seething now. "Why aren't you fuckin mad?"

Broen got up, pulling his IV out of his arm. Fuck that thing. Fuck this place. Fuck everything. He went over to the window and pressed his face against the glass. Huffing. Agitated. His heart rate up.

Rory stood taller when she saw Officer Genovese approaching from the hallway. "Hey, Officer Genovese. Uh, Broen had to tell Zora something so we're giving them some s--"

And then she heard yelling. Indistinct yelling, but yelling all the same. She dragged a hand down her face, turned and immediately threw open the door.

And any and all calm energy Rory had floating around her right then was fucking gone. This was a fucking mess did not begin to describe it. Too many people were here and this was completely uncharted territory.

"Dammit, Broen. You have to get back in bed."

She was about ten seconds away from telling him she'd drag him there herself. Be fucked if he got angry. He had to get well and his anger would be a small fucking price to pay for that.

Travis came onto the scene with Angelo. He wasn't really sure how to react to anything, because it'd been one hell of a day. He was immediately at Jude's side when he saw him and Rory in the hall.

"Thank Christ, man," he sighed and hugged him. He looked like shit but he wasn't dead. He looked him over before stepping back. Then he heard yelling from Broen's room. He sighed and figured he'd go check on him now. Rory was already steps ahead of him.

"I'm gonna see what that's about..." and with that he headed in.
