Max shrugged, laughing quietly. "You're really not that heavy, compared to the stuff I've had to cart around in the past."

"Besides, you'd be surprised what you can think you're feeling, hearing, seeing." He paused, and then "not that I'm prone to hallucinations. But, I'm sure they've got to be realistic for people to believe they're real."

Max shrugged, wondering why she cared enough to ask. "I dinna know. Normally non-voluntary hallucinations" - He paused, winked - "are unpleasant - death, monsters, that sort of thing. So, logically, this conversation wouldn't be happening unless you were some sort of undead monster who was trying to bite through my neck." He ran a hand through his curly brown hair, finally shrugging. "I really don't know - I haven't had hallucinations in months, and back then I didn't really have the means to research them." He laughed, only a fragment of humor in the action. "But anything especially pleasant, welcome, or even slightly normal would probably give one a clue that they were not, in fact, hallucinating." He turned back to her, an eyebrow arched questioningly. "Why?"

Max shrugged. "Methinks it'd be a bit easier to believe that you're carrying someone then to believe someone's carrying you." He shrugged, winked. "But, what do I know, eh?"

Max grinned. "Ah, I can see it now." He pushed back his hair, one hand dancing about as if writing the words in the air. "carried girl to the hospital wing. Spent the entire time trying to decide if she was real or not." He paused, laughed. "They're gonna love that one."

A pause; he turned his head back to glance at her worriedly. "How're you feeling, anyway?"

Max frowned, trying to figure out what she said. A long pause, and then "distraction!" he announced, face brightening. "Of course. Right. Does it have to be insanity, though? It really doesn't present itself in interesting ways..." He sighed, shaking his head as if disappointed he hadn't gone an interesting sort of mad.
