Isn't it lovely?

Max laughed, pausing a minute to determine the best way to transport her and then crouching down hesitantly for her to get on his back. Carrying someone in your arms, although much less awkward, was out; he knew from carrying Kadia back home time and time again that it was extremely tiring. "Don't you want to try breaking every bone in my body while I'm standing?" He laughed quietly, wrapping his arms around the backs of her knees and standing up easily. Sure, he was joking, but he had to admit her sudden arrival had been a bit painful… Ah well, she’d gotten the worst of it.

She smiled... "Well I didn't mean to fall... I mean how was I to know that I would be in a tree.... And hey you should always be prepared..." Callie said with a laugh... "Especially when interesting people fall out of trees and into your lap..."

Max shook his head sadly. "So defensive!" He yawned, wriggling his wings to get them in the most comfortable position possible.

"So, Miss. Callie." He glanced over his shoulder at her, arching an eyebrow. "What were you doing out here, anyway? Beside from teleporting into people's laps, hoping to give them an interesting discussion, that is."

She smiled... "You win... I was just practicing and I didn't mean to fall into your lap though I have no complaints only that I sprained my ankle... Mr. Max."

Max glanced back at her, a sheepish grin pulling on the corners of his mouth at the way she'd enunciated the 'mister'. "What, so addressing young ladies with proper respect isn't fashionable either?" He sighed, shaking his head lightly. "Anyway, my name's too plain to sound good with mister tacked on to the front." He grinned, pale blue eyes sparkling with laughter. "Now, Callie... Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean 'most beautiful'?" He raised an eyebrow in silent respect. "Whoever named you had excellent foresight."

Callie smiled blushing lightly.... "Well Mister Max... proper respect isn't heard often..." She said with a laugh... "But it's nice to hear a miss in front. Now about my name... I have no clue if it does mean most beautiful... But I do know that you are very sweet."

"Am I, now?" He replied, one eyebrow raised, laughter in his voice. "Well, the same could be said for you, Miss. Callie." He laughed, and then "and if I must insist; Max. Please." He glanced back at her, winked amicably.

Callie smiled... "Then call me Callie, it would be weird for you to keep saying miss when I say just Max... And besides I did fall on you, so that gives you permission to call me Callie." she said with a smile....

"Does it?" He laughed. "I suppose I'm not up to date on the falling-on etiquette, either." He cooled his hand once more, touching it to her ankle to keep it from heating up. "Sorry about that, for what it's worth."

She smiled... "If it wasn't for you I'd have to walk all the way back alone by myself if you weren't underneath that tree... I might even be more hurt... And besides your cold hand feels good on it..." She said with a smile...
