Is This How You Date?

"Well, often times we didn't go out like that, but yeah. It'd be my mom and my uncle and I, my mom would manage to bake me a cake and we'd spend the day watching movies, if it was a school day she'd call and tell them I couldn't make it that day." Malvoes said this, recalling a few times where his mother would burn the cake or they'd get a cheesy movie to make fun of.

He'd idly be making small circles on her legs with his fingers, "Why do you ask?

"Well, I suppose-"pausing as he changed to tracing out squares, "-when you have so little like I did, you appreciate what you do have, because that's all you got." He'd think on this for a few moments, wondering if he'd end up similar to Eli if he were raised with money.

He'd wear a bitter smile, changing his pattern to triangles.

"Rocky road honestly, a lot of rejections, two who cheated on me, one who just used me for sex, which admittedly was okay till I started developing feelings for her and one that just broke my heart because it sounded fun to her. But other than that, nothing, I stopped after the last one because it stuck with me, but new place, new me." Malvoes wanted to keep with this idea that he'd try to be a different him on the island, going to school, making friend and doing some normal and abnormal stuff.

Malvoes would chuckle, switching back to circles. "You know, I don't know, it seems like that's all I can attract, so maybe that is my type. Explains you." He'd add with a wink.

He'd nod slightly, "I hope so."

"Outdo you? What do you mean?" Malvoes would ask, still doing circles on her legs.
