Alessa was a bit excited, maybe some tea would be able to calm her nerves. "Oh yes id love some tea. I dont need anything else though.". Honestly she was a bit hungry, but she felt bad taking food from people so she decided not to.

She rubbed her hands together in her lap, she was still a bit nervous but figured things would get better.

Emily smiled back at her guest, keeping her demeanor pleasant and calm as she prepared the tea. "Alright then, I'll have that right out." Several minutes passed in silence as Emily set out some tea cups, and prepared the drink.

Carrying the arrangement of the cups, some sugar cubes and a little pitcher of cream, Emily reentered the the room and set the tray on the table. A few more moments as she took her seat again. "Now... Would you like to tell me about your reasons for wanting this meeting?"

Alessa took a small sip from the tea cup she had been given, "Very good, thank you very much.". She placed the tea cup back on the table and stared into it as she spoke. "Before I was moved to the island my parents and sibling were burned to death in their home. Im not really sure what your supposed to do when things like that happen, so I contacted you, since youre a counselor and all..." her voice shook as she spoke.

Emily sipped at her tea, holding the cup in her hands as she listened. "Death can be a traumatic experience, especially when it is someone as close as a parent or sibling... Everyone has their own way of coping with things like that... How do you..." She searched for the correct words. "... How do you feel about this event?..."

She kept staring at her tea "Well... I feel angry, and terrible, like it was my fault. If I had shown up earlier then maybe I couldve stopped it, I shouldnt have waited in the line I waited in at the store, I shouldve gone to self checkout so it couldve been faster..." her breathing sped up.

"It was my fault..."

Emily reached over and placed her hand on Alessa's shoulder, shushing her lightly as she sensed the panic beginning to rise from her. "shh shh shhhh... It's okey Alessa..." She scooted her chair a little bit around the edge of the table so she was in a better position to comfort her patient.

"Why would it be you're fault?... What could you have stopped?... Will you tell me? You don't have to if you don't want to?"

Alessa took a deep breath, Emilys hand on her shoulder felt comforting. "Well... my family has magic in their blood, were witches and wizards and all that. And this group of people found out and burnt out housedown, I was out getting grocery's and by the time I was back it was too late..."

Emily listened carefully until she finished her description of the event. She placed her other hand on Alessa's cup and lifted it slightly, forcing her to at least pause for a moment whether she took a drink or not. "It doesn't sound like you would have been able to do anything..... it... do you feel like it's a bad thing that you lived?..."

She stuttered "But I couldve done something about it... I couldve stopped them... I couldve used my magic! Or or or..." her whole body was shaking again.

"Well... I guess im happy I survived but... I miss my family, im angry, I want to get back at the people who did this."

"Shhhhh" Emily gently rubbed her shoulder, guiding her through her emotions. She licked her lips a little idly, try to keep careful track of the rise and fall of Alessa's feelings.

"It's alright to feel this way, Alessa. It's perfectly reasonable." She paused, searching for the next step she wanted to take. "...You can't blame yourself for the actions of others. There was no way you could have known what would happen." She moved her hand from Alessa's shoulder to her knee, patting it lightly. "Are you alright Alessa? We don't have to do all of this right now, we'll only go as fast as you feel comfortable with, okey?"
