Lucas had taken to using his demon form. To he honest he wasn't exactly sure he had ever walked around school in it minus a few times. This was big for him, he understood the pressure that being demon put on demons. You were automatically the bad guy and there was rarely room for improvement. That's why he had made a bunch of signs and hung them around the courtyard. It was time to actually have a message of some sort.

"My Aspiration for this election is to Inspire all of you to challenge Stereotypes, rumors and of course common misconception of every and all species located here on the island."

All eyes were on him, don't choke don't stutter. He had to keep this up, he was doing good. He had ordered pizza, soda and cookies. He had even invited the younger years and lured them there with promises of candy. Was that wrong? Probably but he knew that even though they were younger it didn't matter. Every vote counted and he was not about to offer the kindergartners longer nap times. He didn't want to insult anyone.

"This island is supposed to be a safe Haven for those discriminated against in various parts of the known and unknown universes, and I would like for the school to reflect that. "

He looked out towards the crowd that had formed. Was this what elections were about? A week of speaking in front of crowds and the meetings everyday. He would have to talk, he would have to be..smooth? Ugh. This was horrible, he hadn't wanted to read off cards. Nor did he want to seem like he didn't know what he was talking about. He was not inwardly panicking, no he could do this. After all his niece had worked hard on the posters and he wanted to show his appreciation, she had so no stuttering. They were in this to win this.

He had even invited students from the DSU to join his rally. Because thats what it was.

Shay was sitting in the front row for Lucas' speech. She was like Vito, a mask of neutrality on at all times, but she did give him a thumbs up and nod approvingly at the points he made. It felt nice having someone to route for. It felt meaningful. Despite that she called the Rosales' her family, Shay always felt she was intruding like she was a passing phase. She didn't feel that way now.

One of the students in the crowd raised his hand and waited for Lucas to motion at him before he asked his question. "How do you plan on getting people to challenge these misconceptions if you win the election? How are you going to enforce fair treatment of all races?"

Lucas was glad that people were asking and questions and listening to his message. He was also extremely grateful that Shay showed up. He didn't really have anyone besides his girlfriend and family that he was truly close to on the island so it did give him confidence.

"That's an excellent question, its my strong belief that part of the reason there are so many misconceptions is that there is not enough factual information is being spread. I propose that we reach out and speak to these individuals. I will also be starting a program that addresses these stereotypes and helps set them straight. This has become about misinformation and sometimes hatred. That should not have to be tolerated. I believe that those mistreating others based on sexual orentiation, gender, race, species, color, fashion sense or any type of bullying should face displinary actions."

Lucas took a deep breath and gave a firm but serious smile the passion I'm his voice very apparent. He had never felt so strongly about something before, it was his power. He was being affected by it, even if he couldn't see it he could it was suffocating him. He wasn't sure he wanted it to stop, was this election turning him into a rights activist?

"This is about more than just election, its about making sure that we give everyone the chance to learn and thrive in an environment that they can feel safe in. We shouldn't be pushing others away based on myths and rumors. The golden rule is treat others the way, you would want to be treated and I support that."

Lucas was inwardly surprised that hr had so much to say based on such a small question. He finished the answer and pointed at another person for a question. He was fired up and he had no clue how to turn it off.

Shay, too, was surprised that Lucas had so much to say on the subject, but she was happy too. She could feel his magic working into her bones and warming her center. It wasn't as strong or off-putting as Klaus' magic, but it was less subtle than Vito's.

The next person to ask a question was a girl no older than Shay. She looked like a lamb, fluffy white hair in an afro and large, ram-like horns sprouting from the sides of her head. Her eyes were large, black and doe-like.

"C-Could you make it safer around the school? Not just for bullies but there are rumors...and certain people are s-scary. Plus, since the tsunami, everyone is a little shaken up."

Lucas had to fight the adorableness of the small girl. She looked so..innocent that Lucas thought long and hard before he answered her question. That was a perfectly good point and Lucas wanted to make sure that he gave a realistic answer.

"Yes Tsunami has left a very serious impact on island just not the school. I assure you I will do my best to get to the truth in these rumors and see to it that the students at the school can feel safe from anything bullies or otherwise. There are a lot of students that live of campus and they deserve to feel safe and at home" he said making sure to stick to his previous stance on rumors.

"If certain students are making you feel uncomfortable don't hesitate to come forward to the proper authority. You shouldn't feel as if you need to walk on eggs shells or miss out on things because of certain students" like ones giving away spiders, but he didn't say anything of the sort.

There were nods and murmurs of agreements; then one large boy stepped forward. He sneered, looking Lucas over. "You're just all about this indiscrimination stuff because you're a Demon and have a family of criminals. Why should any of us trust you to look after our needs? You people are selfish and chaotic."

Lucas paused and blink towards the individual that stepped up. After all everyone was welcomed to voice their opinions and he would not belittle them at all. However his family was not now or would it ever be up fit discussion or slander. How dare this large idiot insinuate such things about his family.

"Well you are right about one thing. I am a demon, in fact half of my family are demons. However it's mentalities like yours that make it harder for people like me to be seen for who we are or are achievements. If your only reason for not thinking I will look out for your needs is because I'm half demon, than your way of thinking is no different from the people who have persecuted so many if these island inhabitants."

He didn't allow the absolute anger he was feeling show on his face. No he would not let someone make him the bad guy at his ralley. "Demons are known for being Selfish and Chaotic, but you know what, so are humans. I'm not setting here telling you that all demons are good, what I am standing here telling you is that all demons are not bad. Don't let rumors, myths, and people with loud mouths. Classify entire species are something horrible, any one person place or thing can be horrible, but that doesn't mean all places people or things like it are as well "

Lucas wasn't sure if he had handles that correctly. He was to busy picturing turning the looud mouth jerk I to pure gold and tossing it into the ocean. He picked another person, before the loud mouth had another chance to speak.

Shay listened carefully to how Lucas handled these situations. He was doing better than she had expected and, dare she say it, she was proud of him.

There were a lot of misconceptions about Demons. Shay wondered if it had been because Klaus was a Demon or a crime boss that she had originally been wary of him. It might have had something to do with coming across his brutal murder scene. Hrm.

"What about an outreach program for other creatures, not just Demons, on the subject of prejudice?" Shay asked, loud enough to catch attention. "There was that controversy about that app with Vampires to find willing victims to feed on. We have groups like anti-vampire associates in vampire hunters, and I'm sure if there were more shapeshifters there would be an anti group for them, too. The point is, allowing for these types of organizations are stopping species from grouping together and having support systems in packs, seethes, covens, etc."

Lucas once again was thankful that Shay had decided to help him. Even though he knew that he probably was no going to win, there was always next year. "That's a very good point and I don't intend for this outreach program to just help demons. I want to reach out to everyone, no one is barred or left out this program. Everyone is effected by stereotypes and prejudices against them. I want this program to focus on leveling the playing field so to speak. All who join and participate are on equal footing, no one species is favored over the other."

Lucas wanted to make sure they understood that he wasn't just talking about fairness for Demons. He wanted everyone to feel like they could be themselves, they could express themselves and their heritage without worrying about other people stoppiing them. Freedom of Expression was one thing that Lucas lived for, thrived for, it's what his mother spent her whole traveling the world to preserve, whether it was simply artistic or otherwise.

Shay nodded approvingly before she sat back down. It made Shay wonder about things, this little speech and she thought, one day she might look into her magic a tad more, but today was not that day.

The crowd murmured among themselves. More agreed than disagreed, but there were always those assholes who didn't want every race to be fair. Shay watched people, speaking when anyone looked at her (which was rare), but she was distant, lost in her thoughts. She looked directly at Lucas, meeting his eyes and pursing her lips.

Shay stood and walked over to him, seeing as no one seemed to be asking questions, instead debating among themselves. "That was good," she said. "You got people talking; that's the best thing you can do."
