Rory Voltaire

Rory shoved his cold hands in to the conjoined pocket in the front of his hoodie. The hoodie was black and helped him blend in with the darkness of their surroundings. He planned to spend a bit of time with the others at the bonfire and then he planned to sneak off and get drunk. He had put a lot of hard work in and deserved a break, or so he thought. "Alright, Jayson. All you have to do it make sure you don't get in to any trouble. Have fun. Make friends and don't talk about virginities.

Emilie Kiden

After having been given the eyes of the deer carcass back at the bonfire and watching the only one who seemed to challenge her for food leave her attention wondered and she found herself moving with it. In to the darkness was where her pale body went. To an untrained eye she would look like a ghostly figure flitting through the trees but in reality she was simply a backwards albino child in search of something to entertain herself with. It wasn't until the sound of footsteps treading carefully through the fall leaves could be heard that she paused and listened.

He wasn't sure why he was here with his roommate but it seemed that it was customary to 'hangout' with his friends, not that he had any. Urban dictionary gave some really weird definition on some slang words he had been hearing. Tonight it was a white shirt with a multi-color monkey on it wearing headphones on it. Even Jayson had his own set of red colored headphones around his neck.

"How much trouble can I get into?"

He asked with a roll of his eyes and he followed alongside Rory. Sliding his hands into his own pockets a shake of his head. As they walked he heard the rustling of bushes and glanced around. A sharp pain struck him in the head but it was gone just as quickly as it came. He didn't react to it much but it hurt like a mother fucker.

"You and your virginity talk..."

Emilie Kiden

Having shucked off her platforms a while ago left the girl barefoot, save for the black opaque stockings she wore. This allowed her to move more quietly and quickly, or at least it would if she managed to walk up right. It was only on rare occasions that Emilie pulled herself up to two feet and began toddling along like a child learning to walk. She wasn't sure why she was this way but it was just another source of frustration for her and those around her.

That only seemed to be the case when she didn't have something that drew her attention and forced her to focus in order to get it, like her powers or abilities demanded of her. There was something in the woods ahead of her with a familiar scent. It walked on two feet and seemed sure of itself for this act, unlike her. Emilie crawled next to a tree, her hands sought out the rough bark for hand-holds to help her up. Pressing a hip in to the solid plant helped her to remain balanced as she stood and leaned in to it.

Lavender orbs were scanning the area for any sign of movement no matter how small and any sound that was out of the ordinary..but she heard nothing. Whatever was out there had paused, like her, and was listening too.

Jayson's steps never faulted as he walked alongside his roommate but as he turned to look and say something else he noticed Rory had taken off somewhere. The soft breeze in the air caressed the side of his face. He wandered the bonfire the silver in his eyes catching the glint from the yellow and orange flames. He seemed lost in it as he walked around it a little. Turning his head away he smiled at a few of the students he had passed. They waved but he waved back with a shake of his head. He didn't want to attract attention to himself by making unnecessary friends here. He had one job and that was to find his other half. Someone bumped into his shoulder, jerking him back a little. He pulled a hand out of his pocket to right himself as a hand came up to steady him.

"My bad dude." The guy said and Jayson lifted a hand to say that it was fine and continued walking. Rory was drinking already but he figured the boy could figure things out and didn't really need him around. The warmth of the bonfire was calming, the crackling of the sticks and leaves were drowned out by the talking and chattering between students. The clinking of bottles the laughter filled around his mind. He logged it all into the back of his mind before turning and left the close warmth of the bonfire. It was probably best to head back to the room, his mind wasn't at all into it tonight. He hadn't realized that he had left in a different point of the bonfire and when he had taken notice as to where he was, he wasn't sure where it was.

"Shit." He muttered, the air growing cooler around him. A sharp course of pain struck his head, as though someone had taken a really thin needle and slid it into the side of his brain and was now turning it around. A hand raised to the area of the pain, a small wince, before it was gone again. What the hell was it? Why was he getting them now? He had never had them except a few times that he was in the lab. The sudden feeling of a presence let his eyes wander the area around him. He wondered if he was being followed by something or someone.

'Wait for it..' she thought.

The darkness shrudded her existance despite her pale skin. For some reason the darkness in the forest seemed to take engulf everything like a living creature, it held no light, it was as though light came to lose itself here. She liked that. Something about it was a comfortable feeling for her but she also knew that, no matter how great of a preadure she had been made to be, there would be bigger and stronger creatures out there just waiting for her to let her guard down. It wasn't going to happen though. The girl wondered and had a one track mind at times but she wasn't stupid.

Crunch.

That small sound under the boy's shoes was just the thing she needed to pin point his location and to take him down. Cut from the herd and left to defend himself alone while new was the worst possible position for him to be in when confronted with a hungry creature such as Emilie. The girl drew in a quiet breath and held it. Tilting her chin up she would check for the direction that the wind was blowing to move herself down wind, scent unable to be detected. She had no way of knowing they had a link that laid beneath the skin and neither could fight against.

Tip toe...Tip toe..

The female redistributed her weight so that she could travel upon the balls of her feet. Being that she was unstable while walking up right she had to resort to pausing behind trees like one some sort of bad spy to keep upright. This actions did aid in keeping her cover as she moved closer to Jayson's location. She wondered if this was what her creators had in mind when they created her but she doubted it.

The sneakers he wore led him deeper into the forest. The boy would eventually end up somewhere right? Or he could live here forever, it wouldn't be hard to survive but all in all it wasn't exactly safe out here either, and he needed to be alive. Another jolt of pain coursed through his head, goodness he would have to ask someone about the pain in the infirmary. Give him something to tide over for a little bit. The crisp leaves and the dry little branches snapped and crunched beneath his feet. The air had stopped moving almost as if the area around him had decided to hold its breath.

It was then he stopped and listened for any other sound. The crickets had stopped chirping, the owl had stopped his hooting. The sound of the other students had long since disappeared. The burning of the flame nowhere to be found. It was awkwardly silent, and the only reason that it was so awkwardly silent meant that there was something that the creatures of the night was fearing. The jab of pain was closer between each episode. The creator hadn't spoken of how he would meet his other half. Just himself tucked away in a prison cell and he dumped here. Was his other half even here for him to become the key to? He another step, this time a tad bit more careful where he moved. Was he being hunted now? Was he just being watched?

He breathed quietly releasing the breath in slow motion as to not make too much noise or steam from his nostrils. Eyes peeled and ears open for any noise of danger, he continued his walk. Whoever or whatever it was that he had a sense of following couldn't be smelled or seen. It was too dark for him to look too far out. He only saw a few feet before his eyes before everything else was faded into the darkness. He could feel the fear knocking on the door to his body. He pushed it away from him willing the need to be brave to fill him. Instead all he felt was nothing wondering how much further he had to walk to get out of the woods.

It was glorious really. The darkness was like a creature all it's own. It sucked unsuspecting victims in with no intention of allowing them to get back out. Some did, of course, but others weren't so lucky. What really called this area home was something Emilie might like to meet one night but tonight was not that night.

The girl pressed her back firmly against the roughened bark of yet another tree. The kind didn't matter but she knew her clothing was well on it's way to tatters. The one thing she did have going for her was the season. The season helped to reduce the plants to mere shells of themselves and pieces to break off and die thereby allowing her to run in to them without much incident since they broke right off, however it was a double edged sword at that. The same branches that broke and gave her a free pass also made a small yet audible noise that gave away her position. Emilie did not possess great night vision and wasn't immune to these things.

What little light did break through the canopy of tree tops was slim to none but would have to do. She capitalized on it and tip toed around the beams but knew a human would need them to navigate their way out of the forest again. She leaned sideways and finally let her gaze fall upon the prey itself. He seemed to be bothered by something but it was too dark to tell what that might have been. She didn't let it sink in or give it the opportunity to change her mind.

The girl crouched low and crawled the rest of the gap towards her prey. It was a mad scramble through the thick of the fall leaves but she felt the boy's shoe beneath her palm and let her claws dig in to the soft flesh of his ankle through his pant leg and sock. She was kneeling and letting her face aim upwards to look in to his own should he decide to move in to one of the threads of light. The scent of blood was in the air, peppering it for all the beings that haunted the darkened woods.

Jayson had thought of turning back but the thought of someone or thing following him would have been a bad idea. He could double around for safety and end up back at the bonfire where he could probably end up dragging a drunk Rory back to the dorms. The air grew slightly colder, the headphones that were set on his shoulders seemed a bit cold when parts of it touched his neck. Turning around behind him one last time he scanned the area behind him then back around to the front. Taking a few more steps not knowing that his movements and noise had masked the beings he stopped to silence again.

The feel of sharp claws cut through his newly given pants and socks, the flow of his blood couldn't be felt at first. Jayson moved to turn his head to look at who or what it was only to feel to be what was a hundred needles perhaps being shoved into his brain and out the other sides. His thin body twisted and he fell towards his knees where Emilie's face just so happened to be staring up at him. The moonlight above them caught the back of his head illuminating his face just slightly. Those slate colored eyes bore into the face that was before him. For the split second that time had slowed for him another pulse of needles cut into him. Both hands reached up and grab hold of his head as the pain radiated from his head and down into his body. Was this an ability she had? He hadn't done anything to her why was she attacking him? The pulsing of the needle like pains were once every 3-4 seconds now and he wanted to reach out and shove her or something to get her to stop but the pain was too much for him so he clung onto his head, hoping that it would help, when it most definitely would not.

"S-stop!"

Emilie didn't stop. His cries, whimpers, or any other form of distress or pain fell on deaf ears. It was as though someone had pushed the mute button on life but only for him, not that there was much else to be heard. All forms of life were silenced this far in to the forest save for the footsteps of those lost or the ones that lived here. Emilie was merely borrowing their hunting grounds for her own but surely robbing another creature of a tasty meal.

With her claws dug in to Jayson's leg she leaned sideways when he fell to his knees and then tugged them, with a bit of pull, free. She gazed unblinkingly at him with her head tilted in that odd and unnatural angle she possessed. He was struggling and completely incapacitated by whatever unseen force there was. She couldn't believe her good fortune but had no one but herself to thank for that.

The pale creature lowered her face to his injured leg. The rips allowed the scent of blood to float up more freely to her nose and she pulled it in. Never was there a more satisfying smell than this. Not even the deer carcass' eyes could compare. She had to wonder why that was but didn't think too hard. Widening her jaws the girl revealed two rows of small, sharpened teeth capable of cutting through denim and cotton or flesh like a hot knife through butter. Emilie sunk her teeth in to the boy's lower calf, crunching straight down to the bone but not pushing through it, no, just grazing it with the large bite of flesh.

The sharp pains were getting worse, the beast was human, with two rows of sharp ass teeth! Before he could stop her, those two rows of sharp teeth sank into his calf. "No!" The pain shot up his leg which doubled the pain in his mind. His hand struck out at her the force of a 5'9 that was now incapitated, swung at her head. He needed her off of him and swung his arm back to hit her again for good measure. What the hell was the school doing with a feral little girl in the forest? Was there a lab here as well?!

Falling back he winced as his tailbone hit the ground but now wasn't the time to pay attention to that. He could the heat of the blood and the drip drip drip as blood gushed from his wounds. Was he going to die here from this on the first night out? The survival and combat training clicked into place and he scrambled back as fast as he could. His hands propelled him backwards as he dragged his half bitten calf with him using the other leg as support to push him backwards. He glanced to and from waiting for his eyes to pass something big enough for him to swing but not too big where he could not wield. His hand brushed over a branch and felt his fingers wrap around it. He yanked it up ripping it from some loosely attached roots.

His next thing was to back himself into a tree. Close one side of the attacking area and focus on the thing in front of him. His back hit the bark of a tree, and Jayson. Had never been so happy to feel a tree touching his back. Talk about being happy about wood. He relaxed slightly for a moment and checked out the wound on his leg, there was a chunk missing, dried leaves filled it and dirt. Talk about infection central. He panted trying to catch his breath and calm it. The girl was out of sight just barely. He could see her form if he watched hard enough but that was becoming unfocused. He readied, the stick poised to strike to keep her away. He wasn't sure how long into this he was going to last.
