In The Shadow Of A Party

They were ushered away by the man covered in punch, for the best he supposed. Once away, he turned to the girl with a small smile, "well...anyways, I'm James, call me Jim if you want." He wasnt overly good at social stuff, but he was friendly and handsome.

Grabbing a few drinks from the table he offered her one, "looks like the party's getting a little crazy." His gray-silver eyes glowed slightly as he talked, they'd been doing that once in a while since his new powers started developing. Reaching out, he gently touched her wrist, where shed been grabbed, "you ok?"

Indeed the backyard was beginning to fill with more and more people, the noise level was rising quickly.

"Good to meet you Celeste," he gently bumped her drink with his, in the way people would for a toast, "good to see you're having fun." He took a swig of the drink, he was happy he'd found someone to talk to, parties just weren't fun when alone, "how long have you lived here? Surprised I haven't seen a cutie like you around school," tipsy/drunk James tended to flirt a bit.

"Though the school is pretty big," he chuckled slightly, and used a shadow tentacle to throw away his empty bottle and grab another.

As they talked a group of newcomers were moving through the yard, they were already drunk, probably party hopping. As completely drunk people usually did, they more stumbled than walked. James moved close to Celeste and gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders to mover her away before the drunks could mow them down.

"Wanna head inside?" he looked over at the growing crowds, the increasing number of drunks, "don't want to get knocked about by them."
