The flow of green and brown was disrupted by a red and white checkered cloth that rested on the ground. There was a small, woven basket on the blanket, the top of it closed to prevent ants and the like from getting inside of it. If that were to happen, this whole surprise would be ruined. The last thing the immortal wanted was for this surprise to be ruined. Enelya was so amazing, and only deserved the best... he didn't want anything go wrong, especially tonight. Allen may have been incapable of reaching the physical grave, but the death of the heart was very possible. As long as that wonderful Plant Lady was happy, though, then he was too.

From the moment she had entered his life, there had been something different about her. Just the way she carried herself, the way she had danced along that beach... a smile tugged at his mouth when he remembered calling her a rebellious teenager.

-

"Mmk, so you nearly bump into me with your foolish dancing and all you can say is a hello? Not a 'oh, I'm so sorry!' or anything? Just goes to show, once again, that you children have no manners! And what's with the blue hair? You think your a rebel or something with dying it that color? And the petals... what, did you fall into a flower patch or something?"

"I'm sorry. I get a little carried away sometimes... The beach was lovely, and I couldn't help but dance to the music of the ocean. It's wonderful today... "I was born with blue hair."

-

At the memory, Allen finally laughed aloud. She was far from a rebellious teenager who just wanted to stand out in the crowd. Enelya was a kind, caring soul, despite all the pain that had happened in her life. She hadn't been born, but instead, created in a lab... and even though the Botinates tracked her down as though she were some animal, even though Kotah had abandoned her... she was still a wonderfully cheerful girl. She had problems and became what he considered insecure at times, but that was why he was around. He was there to make sure she didn't completely fall apart, to make sure for the rest of eternity that she was happy with her life. He would fight the Botinates away from her if it killed him in the process. It most likely wouldn't happen, considering the person he was, but even if it did... he wouldn't be sad over dying. To die to make sure Enelya was safe was the best way he could think of to end his time on this earth.

No matter what Enelya wanted, he would get it for her. Allen was completely and utterly devoted to her. She had come into his life at a crucial time, and shown him that this world wasn't as cynical a place as he had always found it to be. Enelya had shown him that there was still kindness in the world, even though there was enough hurt to match it. Such an amazing thing, this world... such an amazing place that he was only truly beginning to see...

Allen raised a hand and pushed a lock of black hair behind his ear, gazing at the small pond that was a few meters away. There was a convenient little boat near it, so hopefully after the little picnic he had planned they could go on it. A grin spread across his face when he put a hand in his pocket and felt the black, velvety box that would hide it from her eyesight.

Looking down, the former knight simply waited for the woman who he loved, unable to come up with any words in the English language to fully describe how he felt for her. She was Enelya Norvayn, though; it was impossible to describe her character.

For a time, Enelya walked along the branches of the trees, completely unaware of what Allen had in store for her. She hummed a bit, thinking about how lovely the shades of the leaves were turning out to be, and how big that Donar had grown! Things just seemed to grow up and change so fast around her. Though things were under different circumstances with her; she would never change, and she would always be around, and in the same condition. Enelya loved that about herself. No matter how much the world changed, she’d always be there to watch it and help it grow.

Though she soon grew bored of only walking in the trees, so she wrapped a vine around her wrist, and jumped out of the tree, almost as in a bungee jump. Bouncing above the ground, she let go, and landed on the ground with a soft ‘thump’. She brushed herself off, removing the occasional twig, as usual, and wiped her face of a random dirt smudge her cheek had acquired on her travels.

As Enelya ventured through the woods, she thought about what Allen could possibly be up to. The Tin Man had been so mysterious about the whole thing, and despite her poor attempts for seduction, she was unable to persuade him away from his secrecy. Maybe he had some sort of performance prepared with his guitar that he had to get ready for her. Or maybe, he was just bored of her and needed a break. No, that couldn’t be it, could it? No, not her Allen. Her Allen loved her immensely. Right? Right. The ocean was sure of that from the very beginning, before Allen even knew Enelya’s name. Silly Ocean.

Enelya pondered the subject, and found it quite funny. This whole thing was the ocean’s fault. If it hadn’t insisted upon her becoming friend with him, despite his cold ways, after she had bumped into him, Enelya was sure she probably would never have met him. A sad thing that would have been, indeed. All because of a coincidence, the assertion of nature, and a little persistence, and Enelya and Allen had become quick friends, despite his Tin Manish qualities. She was glad he wasn’t a Tin Man anymore, though she had to admit, his reluctance to hug her when they first met was pretty adorable.

Enelya neared where Allen had told her to meet him, and wondered where he was…

Quiet footsteps reached Allen's ears and he grinned, looking in the direction he heard them from. Perhaps it was a bit weird, but he could tell it was Enelya just by the way she was walking. He had learned in all his years that people walked differently and carried themselves differently. It was like fingerprints... none of them were ever the same.

She was getting closer. The immortal started off in her direction, wanting to make sure she saw nothing of what was in store for her tonight. He looked down quickly to make sure that the box wasn't too big in his pants pocket, and though it was slightly, hopefully she wouldn't notice. Either that, or think is was a wallet, possibly. If she asked, he could always lie. The thought of lying to her pained him deeply, but it would be for a good cause. He couldn't tell her that there was an engagement ring in his pocket — that would just ruin everything!

Allen soon reached his beloved and smiles genuinely. He loved her so much... he might not have lasted for so long in this world if she hadn't come along. Enelya had renewed his faith when he had needed it. If it wasn't for her, then he would have dived deeper and deeper into a world of depression and pessimism that he might not have climbed out of.

"'Ello, darling," Allen said, stretching his arms out and hugging her tightly against him. He stayed like that for a few moments before backing away a tiny bit, allowing enough room so that they weren't right against each other but so he could still have his arms around her waist. "I have a surprise for youuuuu!" he sang in a slightly childish tone, giggling. "Close your eyes! Close them, close them, close them!" He was about ready to start jumping up and down, but he wouldn't do that for her sake. It would be best not to freak her out.

The urge to start jumping was written in his eyes, though. Allen made the choice to at least partly skip on their way over to the picnic blanket.

Once her purple eyes were closed, Allen took her hand and hummed quietly, a skip in his step as he walked toward the picnic blanket. He placed her a few meters in front of it, then let go of her hand and went behind it, standing near the little pond. "Surprise!" he finally exclaimed, throwing his arms up into the air slightly, grinning. Hopefully she would like this, since they hadn't gotten to have their picnic earlier.

Was she in the right place? Enelya looked up in the trees, to make sure that for whatever reason Allen wasn’t up there. He could be quite goofy sometimes, so who knew that he could be up to… She giggled slightly as an image of Allen climbing up into the trees flashed through her brain. Silly Allen…

Before she knew it, Allen was in front of her, with a surprise! Enelya smiled brightly as he hugged her, and she embraced him in return. “Hey!” She laughed, and raised her eyebrows in excitement. “I’m so excited!” she exclaimed. She really had no idea what tonight would bring, and that it would probably be the happiest night of her life. A man stood before her, completely changed from the day she first met him. And, to a certain extent, she believed that he had changed her in some ways too. She was definitely not as scared of the Botinates as she once had been, now that she had her knight in shining armor to protect her.

"Close your eyes! Close them, close them, close them!"

Enelya bursted into laughter, and nodded, closing her eyes, although still a bit confused about what was going on. “Where are you taking me?” She questioned, though still allowed him to guide her through the forest. As they started to skip, Enelya giggled a little, and held onto her beloved Tin Man as they did so. She didn’t want to fall down, after all. Though Enelya knew Allen would never let something as clumsy as that happen to her, despite actions she might bring upon herself. She squeezed lightly on his hand in excitement and giddiness, and gave a playful hunch of her shoulders.

She finally opened her eyes, seeing the wonderful picnic before her. Her hands flew to her mouth, and she smiled brightly. “Oh Allen! It’s our picnic we wanted to have!” She threw her arms around his torso, and kissed his cheek. “I love it!” She leaned against him, still enwrapped around him, and she looked at the wonderful picnic, enthralled that they were finally having their picnic. She then let go of Allen, and sat on the corner of the blanket, and looked around, seeing all the beautiful food. She blushed, and looked up at Allen. “Thank you, Allen. You’re definitely my favorite Tin Man.”

“I’m so excited!”

Allen simply smiled, glad that she was excited for this. Hopefully it wouldn't turn out to be a disappointment. With everything he had planned, it most likely wouldn't. The only thing that could possibly make tonight awkward was if she rejected his question. It was doubtful that would happen, but even if it did, he would try not to let it get to either of them.

“Where are you taking me?”

The man giggled, not bothering to stifle the small laughter at all. "That will ruin the surpriiiiisseee!" he said. She would have to find out for herself. It would be more effective fr her to find out for herself than for him to tell her. anyway.

“Oh Allen! It’s our picnic we wanted to have! .... I love it!”

He smiled and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her forehead. He was filled with absolute joy by the fact that she loved her surprise. "I'm glad you like it," he said, eyes turning toward the small body of water near them. He let go of her and took her hand, taking a step toward the small boat that rested on the shore. "Shall we?"

Enelya couldn't stop smiling as Allen wrapped his arms around her, giving her a kiss to the forehead. She giggled a little, and nodded, completely and utterly surprised.

She had no idea, and it was so sweet of him to do something like this for her. She wondered what the special occasion was. If he was going to start making a habit of silly little surprises like this, she'd have to work on her surprising abiltiy as well!

As he took her hand, he showed her to a boat, and Enelya's eyes went wide. "Oh my goodness... Allen... I feel so spoiled!" She said, blushing. She loved the water, though she'd seldom been on a boat. She didn't really know how to 'boat' but did that make a difference?

"Shall we?"

Enelya smiled, and nodded, taking a step towards the boat, and nervously stepping into it, and sitting on the end. She was looking to Allen, making sure she was doing whatever it was she needed to do correctly.
