I really just don't want to be here.

His face brightened considerably upon hearing that she was who he had thought she was. So, this was Nikki's girlfriend? She seemed really nice so far, so he was sure his brother did have good reason to love her. "I'm Sabriel," he said, the tone of his voice becoming much more cheerful than it had been before. "Sabriel Phyero. You're my brothers girlfriend, right?"

Mery smiled. No wonder Pooka had been so friendly. This was Nicolas's brother! "Only if your brother is Nicolas." She said brightly. "Unfortunately, he didn't tell me he had any siblings here. But I didn't ask, so...you know." She shrugged.

Sabriel laughed, acting completely different than he had been before. "Yep, Nikki's my brother!" he said, smiling. He blinked and tilted his head when she told him that Nicolas had never mentioned him. He wasn't ashamed of him, was he? No, that wasn't possible, and the young male shook his head, not going to allow his paranoia to start making him think up false things about his only family. "Well, I sort of just arrived, so he really didn't have any siblings here before," he said with another laugh. "So, are you feeling better, Mery?" he asked, only knowing because Nicolas had told him that the female had been sick with some disease he had trouble pronouncing.

Mery nodded understandingly. "Ohh, I see. Anyway, we never really talked much about family." She told him.
"So, are you feeling better, Mery?"
Again, Mery was taken slightly aback. "Yes, much, thank you. I suppose Nikki told you I had mono then?" She asked.

Oh, good, they really hadn't talked much about family. That made him feel better. That probably meant Nicolas wasn't ashamed of him or anything. He shouldn't have even thought such a thing in the first place. "Oh, ok," he said. He smiled when she said she was feeling better. "Oh, good!! I'm glad!" he said, though an eyebrow raised when she asked if Nicolas had told him that. "Yeah, he did. Was he not supposed to?" he asked quietly.

Mery shook her head. "Oh no. I don't mind. Did he, uh...tell you anything else?" She asked. Truthfully, she was wondering if Nicolas had said anything about her being blind. She didn't mind if he had.

Sabriel thought for a while, trying to remember if his brother had mentioned anything else. Nothing really came to mind, except for little things, like what they had done that day and the like. He almost laughed when he thought about the encyclopedia incident, but didn't. Even then, Nicolas hadn't mentioned his girlfriend being blind. "No, nothing really..." he told her. "Why?" He hoped that his brother wasn't going to get in trouble because of what he was telling Mery right now, seeing as how that was the last thing he wanted.

Mery shrugged off handedly. "Just wanting to make sure he hadn't said anything bad about me." She said jokingly. "Um...how old are you?" She asked.

Sabriel shook his head, a smile upon his lips. "He would never say anything bad about you," he told her. "He loves you, after all." When asked how old he was, he shrugged his shoulders. "I'm thirteen," he told her. "You?" He was sure she was around Nicolas's age, seeing as how she looked it, and the two of them were going out.

Mery smiled at Sabriel's first words. "I'm 17." She replied. "So how long have you been here again?" She asked. She wondered why Nick didn't even say anything about Sabriel coming.
