I really just don't want to be here.

An eyebrow raised when she said that she couldn't see anything. "You mean... you're blind?" he asked her. He had finally figured it out, but he had needed her to tell him that first. If she hadn't, he probably wouldn't have found out until much later on.

"Nicolas trusts me, doesn't he?"

Sabriel's eyes filled with fear when she took his arm and he immediately began to try and pull away from her. However, when she mentioned that Nicolas trusted her, he began to calm down. That was right. Nicolas loved her, he trusted her. If his older brother thought that, then there was no way Mery could be untrustworthy. Nicolas was always right in Sabriel's eyes, after all. The thirteen-year-old nodded, taking in a few deep breaths to get him back to his calmest level. "Right..." he said quietly.

"... I still see no reason to laugh at you. Please calm down. I'm afraid your making Pooka nervous."

She really wasn't laughing, was she? Oh, that was a relief. She wasn't laughing at what everyone thought were his problems, which helped to calm him down even more. "Sorry..." he said softly to her comment about making her dog nervous, and looked down, not having meant to. He just couldn't control his mood swings, he really didn't mean to do these kinds of things.

Mery nodded, rather impressed with herself that she pretty much had to tell him that she was blind before they figured out. And it was the same way with Nicolas too. "Blind as a bat." She told him."[/color]

"Sorry..."

"It's alright. You should see ME sometimes." She said comfortingly. Generally she was a calm and quiet person, but she could get wound up and crazy sometimes.

Sabriel's cheeks became just a little bit pink. "Sorry for making that comment before, then..." he said, referring to his comment about asking her if he looked like he was alright. She wouldn't have known, and he hoped he hadn't made her remember anything painful because of it. He hadn't been able to control what he said, though, so he just hoped she would be able to forgive him. Even if she didn't seem too angry, he still felt the need to apologize for his actions.

"It's alright. You should see ME sometimes."

The boy smiled, actually feeling a bit comforted by this. He didn't think that she had mood swings like he did, since Nicolas might have brought that up. But then again, his older brother probably wouldn't have. After all, his mood swings were kind of a touchy subject. "You act like that sometimes?" he asked, blinking a few times.

Mery shrugged. "It's alright. It's not like you knew. But now you do." Without thinking, she reached up and touched the scar on the bridge of her nose as though she were brushing it away.

Mery nodded. "Oh yes. Most people do sometimes you know. Especially when they get scared. And you probably get..." She stopped talking before she got 'shrinky' again. "Ah, yeah."

Sabriel looked at the scar on her nose, and raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything about it. It may have had to do with the reason she was blind, and he didn't exactly want to talk about that anymore, just in case Mery didn't like the subject.

When she started talking about how people acted like that, he sighed inwardly when she said 'sometimes'. He acted like that almost all the time. He was about to get defensive again, but didn't when she cut herself off and didn't say anything. "I guess you're right..." he said quietly, looking around, his cat-like tail moving back and forth now more than it had before. "So... um... what do you wanna talk about?" he asked her, trying to bring up a different subject.

Mery shrugged. "Um...Do you like reading?" She asked the boy. Reading was a favorite topic of hers, though she had mostly read the same books over and over again.

Mery nodded. "I love reading. I just don't have many books that I can read." She said. "What about movies? What's your favorite movie?" She wondered if it was the same as Nicolas's. Sometimes siblings had the same favorites.

"Hm... I really like The Corpse Bride," Sabriel said. "And The Nightmare Before Christmas." Well, it turned out that he did have the same favorite movies as Nicolas. He wasn't really one for movies, though... he didn't know why, and he thought it was actually sort of odd. "And yours?"

Hm. He did like the same movies as Nicolas. "And yours?" Mery shrugged. "Oh I don't know. I like Singing in the rain. And Anastasia." She said the second one, even though she thought it was a bit of a childish movie to like. Well, at least for a 17 year old.

[Sorry. Me could no resist.]
