Lucy laughed a bit. This girl did have to grow up fast. They were kind of the same in that way, though she didn't ever let her guard down, no matter how nice she seemed. I grew up fast, but in different ways." She paused. "My older brother, he trained me from a very young age to be a fighter, a killer, though I never asked for it." She looked up at the girl with a old look, not liking the feeling of remembered the experience. "I just wanted to be normal, but I never was, you know?"

Max sighed in contentment, she understood. It's not fun to grow up so quickly and not have a real childhood and she would do anything to have it back, though she wouldn't trade it for everything she had learnt over the past 10 years. Those lessons were valuable and made her who she was today and even though she regret on a daily basis not seeing her mother and father everyday, breakfast in a bed with a roof over here. And a family. A real life family. Not past memories. And then her wee little brother, he was only two years of age.
She could feel herself slipping off guard and her eyes welled up and she bit her lip until she could taste the metallic iron in her mouth and she pulled her bow and arrow out at lightening speed and aimed it at the tree and let it go, piercing the tree's bark sharp and with extreme precision.

"I am sorry." She had probably brought up a horrid memory for her, and she felt a bit sad for what she had said. She frowned a bit, then put a smile back on her face. She looked down and though of her own family. They were nice, but this life, she had never wanted it. She wanted to have a brother that she could look up to, to one that she had a love and hate relationship with him. She put an angry face on, not wanting to remember the feeling or the memory. She sighed and nodded at the girl, then put her head back on the tree. "She didn't want to fight of argue with this girl. They were too much alike in some ways. for her to be mad.

"It's not your fault, just reminded of stupidity that's all," She smiled back walking over to the tree and pulling the arrow out and smoothing the bark of the tree before kissing the palm of her hand and pressing it to the bark, mumbling an apology as she went. The cold bark chilled her and awoke her bones.
"Family huh? It's amazing what a family means to you. You shout and curse at them (well I did at a young age, y'know rebellious and stubborn little cow) and then as soon as their gone; you're praying for them to come back. Humans are very dependent on human interaction, trust me, I've gone mad," Max beamed at Lucy who was looking a little like she felt. Sad and memory-full.

"Yeah, but sometimes being alone, is good." She paused and looked up, wanting to know what she felt like. "I guess you can get sick of people if you see the same people over an over again. At least I did." She then looked down and redid her hair. She liked to be alone most of the time, it gave her time to think. Even though she hardly really had anything interesting to think about or to do. She usually just thought about what she could be doing, though she never did do it.

Max stared at her, watching her every move. This was, what, the third time she had redone her hair? Was she vain or something? She was under the impression that she was. Had to look and feel perfect whilst the girl opposite, Max, looked like a shambals to the human race. Horse hair tie, loose braid, eyeliner made out of coal not even soap washed face and ragged but comfortable clothes.
She coughed, "Am I boring you sweetheart?" Max said maliciously, "I don't want to keep you waiting," she hissed.

"No, your aren't boring me." She looked at the girl. "You are actually entertaining me, which is rare." She wondered why the girl thought that she was boring her. Was it because Lucy kept moving around? Changing her mood? Or maybe it was her hair, redoing it all the time. "The hair thingy is a habit." She answered. "I just, do it." Lucy really had no idea why she always felt that she had to redo her hair. She didn't care that much about her looks, so what was it? "Am I boring you?" She shot back half nice, and half meanly.

"No, you're humouring me," she spat, "I don't mean to be mean all the time but sometimes trust is a little hard to regain." She wasn't sorry, nor was she going to apologise. And she was annoyed, she couldn't keep still, she was a little vain. It was the fact that she made sure she was perfect, maybe she was egotistical and obnoxious. If that was the case then Max wanted to teach her a lesson; Max was quick to assume such things and she had to remind herself occasionally that there is always a reason as to why someone is like that.

"Oh, okay." She glared a bit at he. "Trust is hard to get." She never fully trusted people, even if it seem that she did. She always kept her guard up on the inside, but she also let people know that she wasn't all serious. "I know what you mean." She nodded a bit and got p, not feeling to least bit tried anymore. "It is good sometimes to just, relax, though I rarely ever do." She looked in her eyes.

Max saw her move around a bit and seem to not be as tired or bored as she had presented herself before, which in turn did annoy her but she would rather talk to someone who at least pretended to be interested in her as opposed to someone barely staying awake. Maybe this was a cause for Max's own hostility which resulted in Lucy being equally rude and nasty. Though, Max did not think she was nasty, she was just being fair and herself.
Weren't you ever told to just be yourself? That's exactly what she was doing, maybe a bit reserved and meaner that occasionally intended but her patience was thin and she wasn't entirely sure there was a purpose for Lucy's crossing of paths with Max.
