"I guess because I can." She paused and looked down a bit. "To think I guess." She loved being out here, to think, worry or be puzzled by questions that she asked herself. "Get better with my reflexes and hearing. Have to be safe." Even though her brother trained her, and she was good, there was always room for improvement. She looked down at her feet, and redid her hair. "A few reasons."

'What a mysterious girl,' Max thought deeply, twisting the end of her hair that was not tied and was loose and wirey. She needed a hair cut but she didn't know where to get one and she had lost her knife and deer bone comb in the woods before she came to Starlight Academy and she hadn't seen any deer around here recently, it was always so busy. Not busy as in full of people but busy as in residual energy and the noise from the out of the woods. The hustle and bustle of students and staff, too much residual energy for her body and weaponry to cope with, let alone her powers.

Lucy redid her hair quickly and looked around. "What do you want to know about me?" Lucy put her hands on her hips and tilted her head a bit. She wondered what this other girl was thinking. "I am Lucy by the way." She extended her arm slowly, not wanting to get hurt, even though she knew she wouldn't. What would this girl ask her? Personal questions? Or just normal questions? Would this girl like her if they got to know each other? She was thinking about all of these questions, having a puzzled look on her face.

"You read minds I take it," Max assumed and introduced quickly "Max. Just Max." She suddenly felt like a little girl when she was asked for her name.
"Maxine?"
"Just Max"
It saved all the misleading assumptions that she had a shortened name, when, in reality her name was actually Max.

Max grasped the outstretched arm and gripped it tightly and shook it vigorously."I don't mind, I'm a little conserved but I can be very curious at times so go wild," she answered looking surprised at herself for talking like that. Opening up within a few tense moments of contact. She automatically shrunk back to the way she had been before, a solitary lone wolf. Roaming the landscape blissfully at one's own pace; threatening and tall, dominant and wild.

Lucy laughed. Reading minds? No she couldn't do such a thing. "No I can't read minds, I just guessed." She paused and smiled just a bit. "I like your name, it is pretty." She put her hand over her mouth quickly, hoping that what she had said didn't sound weird. Pretty? No, it was beautiful. She had always liked short names for some reason. They were easy to remember and easy to write. "I mean, is there anything you want to know about me?"

"You guessed right. Thank you. I guess it's plain and simple like me. What you see is what you get. No fuss. Nothing fancy." Max wasn't, she never spoke in riddles. She said what she intended to say and did not pussyfoot around with words. There was no need to talk in long complicated sentences unless she had a point to prove and a reason to explain. Or was flirting. But what was she to know about flirting? She pursed her lips into a thin and weak smile but warmer than her frown nonetheless and proceeded to blend into the trees behind her, she wanted to subtly show Lucy that she was not fun. She did not want fun. She was serious and if she was threatened or Lucy did something stupid and unforgivable then there was a girl prepared to retaliate in whatever seemed fit at the present moment.

"Okay." Lucy went backwards and leaned on a tree behind her. Lucy closed her eyes and sighed, wanting to fall asleep. She had not slept in a few days, three days. All she wanted was to fall sleep, but she could for some reason. She opened her eyes, and fell down to the bottom of the tree, trying to get comfy. "I ain't fancy either. I am just a girl with a good aim, that is all." She felt a bit sad saying that. Is that all she thought she was? A girl with a good aim? She was so much more then that. She was special, unique, though no one had seen her like that. So maybe saying what she had said was right. To other's, that was all she was, until they got to know her.

Max could see the slight sorrow and hurt in Lucy's eyes and she didn't know what to do. She couldn't offer sympathy, she hadn't ever used the emotion for a long time. She could skin a rabbit without wincing and shooting the elegant fallow deers was no longer a problem, it was strangely soothing to see their dead corpses on the natural ground as she used their body for what Mother Nature intended, survival.
"I have good aim too, and I can blend in," Max piped cheerily.

"I can't blend in as much, but I am fast, and agile." She smiled a bit, happy with that response "I love nature. It offers so many opportunities for anyone." She more of less meant people that had experience with weapons and the wild, and not people who have no knowledge of what they are doing. At one point, she had no knowledge of how to kill something, or how to even use a weapon. Now though, she was the exact opposite. "I grew up fast." She stated.

Max had the urge to be argumentative and shout. She fought the feeling to shout but couldn't stop herself from arguing against Lucy... "You think you had to grow up fast. I had to grow up in an instant, my own terrible fault. It's hard for a 7 year old girl, I'm still innocent in so many ways," Max growled, "try explaining quantum physics and I will shoot you," she laughed hoping it lightened the mood, she may or may not have purposely done to spite her accidental friendly episode a few moments before.
