Cordelia drew her hand back, wincing. The flames had licked it and it hurt!!! She looked at the red flesh that was slowly turning black, biting the inside of her lip. Owie.... she thought to herself. Being a teacher had its perks, but this was one of its downfalls.

"Soahc, let go of the rope. Come on. It's not going to help you! What will your guardian think if they see this? Come on. Let go of it and I'll help you, alright?" She was horrible at this, but she had to try. She had to find out when his guardian got home, too... she didn't know how long she would be away from Suna.

He thought to himself looking at her threw the flames and back at the rope lying in his hands...was death realllly worth it? He didn't know...his sadness slowly faded...very slowly...as the flames were dying down since he had no control of his powers

Soahc looked at her no longer feeling anything the rope slipped out of his hands and dropped to the floor before him...he was still staring where it used to be not knowing what he was going to do...was he really going to kill him?

"Come here, Soahc," Cordelia pleaded softly, glad that he had at least dropped the rope. "It'll all turn out ok, I promise you that. This isn't worth it. Are you really willing to throw your whole life away at the age of seven? Come on. There'll be a lot more happiness if you just forget about death."

He looked at her unable to hear her because of the shock he had went threw but he did see her motioning to him and felt his own body betray him...he began to walk toward her very slowly.

Ok, good. This was good. He was coming toward her. She got down on her knees so that she would be at his height, knowing what she had to do. Hugs always cheered children up. "I promise you that I'll help you," she told him. Cordelia may have lied a lot, but promises were one thing she usually kept. "I'll do everything in my power to make sure everything turns out alright."

He stopped before her hearing her muffled voice...he was still in shock and not knowing what was going on or what he was doing because of how paranoid he was at the moment.

Once he was in front of her, Cordelia quickly, but gently, wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "I promise," she said again. "I'm proud of you for not doing that, Soahc. Very proud." She offered him a smile as she released him. It was the whole truth — she was, in fact, proud of him for not trying to end his life.

He did nothing as she held him. She would feel scars in his tattered clothing and threw them from being hit by his father or others who were larger then him...he knew that she wouldn't approve of his father coming home at about midnight but he couldn't really stop him.

He looked at her as he was being hugged...it was the first warmth the boy has felt in years no one else seemed to care for him. His teachers sometimes would ask about his home life but he would always make up a lie so his father wouldn't get into trouble because he was only trying so hard to keep his son well. He couldn't imagine his reaction if he knew about his grades...
