The apartment was normal. That was the point. Jude wasn't even in it--he hadn't been inside--but staring up at the building made a swirl of emotions fill him that he wasn't at all used to.

Home. This was going to be home. Home in a way that no place had been since his childhood home--the place he'd grown up in--had burned to the ground with him inside.

Jude was bundled up tightly, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he waited for Gabe to arrive. It wasn't a far walk. A few blocks down from where Gabe himself lived, practically within spitting distance.

He wondered if that was intentional. If his father had picked a building not too far from where most of the Halcyonites had found their homes.

Gabe was wrapped in his usual assortment of thick jackets. He was never going to be a fan of the cold, but Angelo was worth it. He had been excited for their second date, although some of the excitement had shifted. Diego had abruptly left after being told about Angelo and the fact that he and Gabe were dating, and he couldn't quite figure out why. Was Diego disgusted that Gabe was into both guys and girls? Maybe that Angelo was the one that had electrocuted him back in Halcyon? Maybe he didn't like that. Or was he worried about being replaced? That his attention wouldn't be focused as much as it was normally?

Or maybe...

Gabe pushed that thought out of his head. It wasn't realistic and was only a fantasy. He huffed, watching his breath fog into the early evening air. Angelo had wanted to meet after class was done, so Gabe had rushed home, changed into more casual clothes, then dashed out the door once more to meet his boyfriend. After wandering for only a few minutes, he saw that familiar set of blond hair standing outside.

"Angelo!" Gabe called, picking up his pace and stopping right in front of him. He pulled his hands from out of his pockets, wrapping them around the waist of the teen. "Give me your warmth. The tree demands sacrifice." He teased, locking his arms tight.

Jude waved when he spotted Gabe coming--he was hard to miss, bundled up like he was--and let out a small laugh when Gabe immediately nuzzled against him, demanding sacrifice.

"You're not going to get much through my jacket," Jude said, grinning wickedly. "Guess I shouldn't keep you out in the cold too long, huh?"

Probably a good idea, considering how Gabe felt about cold, so Jude turned his head to the side, nodding towards the building, unable to hide his grin.

"It's here. We don't have it yet, but we'll move in on the first. Just me and my dad. It's not going to be very big or anything, but... home."

"God no. Most plants don't thrive in the cold. I'm honestly ready to jump into a hot bath or something out of desperation."

Gabe continued to cling onto Angelo, head buried into the teen's chest as much as possible. It wasn't that much warmer, but it did protect against any of the cold winds that might blow their way. He did pull away to look at the apartment building that Angelo would be moving into. It would be very nice to have to only walk a few blocks to see his boyfriend instead of however far Big Angelo's house was.

"Good. It'll be nice to be able to see you more often. And I'm sure it'll be just the right size for you and your dad." Gabe grinned, looking up towards Angelo's face. It was a little odd being the shorter of the two as when he went on dates prior, he was the taller one, but Gabe didn't mind as much. He liked the idea of being enveloped in hugs versus him being the enveloper? Is that the word? Who knows.

Jude wasn't used to the cold, but he wasn't weak to it either. He was doing just fine in the chill, his jacket warding off the worst of it.

"That's the idea," Jude said. "We're not going to have a ton of space or anything. No guest room for now. But... you know, my own space. I'll decorate. Help fill it up. All the stuff you're already doing."

He couldn't help but laugh a bit at the idea, because he was preaching to the choir, wasn't he? Gabe had already moved in to his own place. He was probably already doing all that. It was just Jude that wasn't, because Jude was... well, struggling a bit with the whole idea of living in the house of him-that-wasn't-him.

He didn't even really note how small Gabe was, just the fact that he was being physically affectionate.

"Do we want to head somewhere before you turn into a treesicle?"

"Tons of space is overrated anyway. It's much easier to manage your life when you don't have a gigantic room to clean up."

Gabe grinned, still clinging onto Angelo. Apparently, he was easy to please as long as he was holding onto the blond. Moving was always stressful, but coming to the island had been a little simpler. Gabe and his mom didn't have anything to bring over through the portal. No clothing, no books, not a single possession beyond the clothing they were wearing. But Angelo had already arrived on the island prior. He had had a little time to have things of his own. Depending on what he had, moving could be super easy or a total pain in the neck.

At the mention of heading somewhere to escape the cold, he couldn't help but laugh and let out an over-exaggerated sigh. "Dear god, yes. The struggle of being a nature child is that the cold is my enemy. Take me away, Angelo, otherwise you'll have to wait until spring for me to thaw out."

"I wouldn't know," Jude admitted. "I only ever lived in two places... my house, which was super spacious, and then a dorm in Sentinel Square."

Which, being called a dorm, had more in common with a tiny hotel room then it did with an actual house.

Jude let them in the entrance. He wasn't used to not just being in a house once he went inside, but he was adjusting. He took the elevator, mostly out of consideration for Gabe, and hit the third floor button.

"We don't have much set up yet," Jude admitted, looking sheepish. "Not that we have much stuff in general. I don't have much to put in my room. Bookshelf. Bed. Desk. Some odds and ends."

Gabe hummed as he followed Angelo into the elevator. Small spaces had never really concerned him; being in his Ent armor was like constantly wrapping himself up in a cocoon so it wasn't terrible. The building was notably warmer than outside and the teen smiled faintly as the blond looked embarrassed about the lack of things in his room.

"It's fine. You're barely moving into this place so why would you have a lot of things anyway? Unless you've been hoarding stuff since you got to the island." Gabe chuckled, adjusting his scarf to let it hang more loosely. "And having it empty is nice! I share a room with Diego, and it's honestly getting a bit messy. It's not" terrible though, just... needs some extra work." At the mention of Diego, the plant manipulator looked mildly uncomfortable for a moment before relaxing as if nothing was wrong. The elevator dinged at the arrival of the third floor, and he took a careful step out.

"Lead the way, Angelo."

He shared a room with Diego? Jude paused at that, not moving right away as the door opened, but did step out after a moment, heading down towards his apartment.

"I didn't realize Diego was staying with you again," Jude admitted, somewhat reluctantly. They didn't talk about him much. Jude had always had the distinct impression that Diego didn't like him much, and he couldn't quite tell if it was Diego being exceptionally salty over Jude having shot him that one time, or if there was something else going on he was oblivious to.

He unlocked the front door with a key produced from his pocket, leading Gabe into the large room. The entire apartment was more or less a single room, with a living area in the front and a kitchen in the back. Doors along the left wall lead to two bedrooms and a bathroom between them, and Jude left his shoes on.

"Shoes on. My dad has to wear his in here anyway."
